All full day courses will start at 10.30am with half an hour for lunch, unless otherwise stated. If you are likely to arrive more than
half an hour after the scheduled start time, please let the local administrator and the venue know. Please make arrangements
taking into account that training will finish no earlier than 6pm.

Mental Capacity Act & Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS)
Initial classroom based training during Induction. Following this, the full standalone day of MCA & DoLS must be completed within 12 months of employment. No update required. If knowledge needs to be refreshed, e-learning is available for all staff.
Medication Administration Initial classroom session and minimum of 3, recorded, successful observations before being deemed competent to administer.
Annual, recorded, successful observations of practice in the workplace are necessary to maintain competence. Observations should be recorded and evidence kept in the staff members’ supervision file. Update required every 3 years, but staff must be aware of their
local policies as they may differ slightly due to Local Authority contractual requirements.
Safeguarding Update every year: initial classroom session and then e-learning update. Moving & Handling (care and non-care)
Update every 2 years: initial classroom session and then e-learning update.
Food Safety in Catering (Level 2 Award)
Delivery by e-learning or classroom (classroom recommended as initial method, particularly if the staff member’s job role has a large percentage of food handling). Update every 3 years by e-learning.
Emergency First Aid in the Workplace
Initial classroom session, update every 3 years by classroom.
Fire Safety E-learning and full annual fire drills in the service to maintain competence.
Infection Control Initial classroom or e-learning. No update required but recommended every 3 years.
This training is coupled with Food Hygiene training and both are delivered in the classroom on the same day.
Health & Safety Awareness Initial e-learning or classroom. No update required, but recommended every 3 years.
Data Protection and Information Governance
Initial classroom based training during Induction for all staff. E-learning is mandatory for all staff. Update recommended every 3 years.

Acquired Brain Injury Awareness Embrace e-learning These courses are e-learning alternatives for courses that we do not often run at
Head Office. Please remember that if you wish to utilise any of these, you will need to follow the external training booking procedure. This is important as the booking process is used by the Training Team not only for validation but to ensure that the
training is reflected in your training record.
Please ensure an external application is completed, authorised and sent to training for approval before completing the course.
