A – Algebra

An equation says that two things are equal. It will have an equals sign "=" like this: x+2=6

Page 3: An equation says that two things are equal. It will have an equals sign "=" like this: x+2=6

B-Binomial

A polynomial with two terms which are not like terms. The following are all binomials: 2x – 3, 3x5 +8x4, and 2ab – 6a2b5.

Page 4: An equation says that two things are equal. It will have an equals sign "=" like this: x+2=6

C- Constant

In Algebra, a constant is a number on its own, or sometimes a letter such as a, b or c to stand for a fixed number.

Page 5: An equation says that two things are equal. It will have an equals sign "=" like this: x+2=6

D- Dependent Variable

The "output" value of a function:In y = x2

x is an Independent Variabley is the Dependent Variable

Page 6: An equation says that two things are equal. It will have an equals sign "=" like this: x+2=6

E- Extrapolate

Mathematics To estimate (a value of a variable outside a known range) from values within a known range by assuming that the estimated value follows logically from the known values.

Page 7: An equation says that two things are equal. It will have an equals sign "=" like this: x+2=6

F- Factor

Factors are numbers you can multiply together to get another number

Page 8: An equation says that two things are equal. It will have an equals sign "=" like this: x+2=6

G-Graph

When I mean graph I mean linear relations. We use the graph when we use X and Y. We also use the graph when we were plotting our points from ABC, to DEF.

Page 9: An equation says that two things are equal. It will have an equals sign "=" like this: x+2=6

H- Horizontal

When I am talking about horizontal things, we add that to Linear Relations. When we do Linear Relations we need to know where to plot the point on the horizontal line or on the vertical line.

I- Improper Fractions

We use Improper Fractions when we solve a Fractional equation. An improper fraction is a fraction when the numerator is larger than the denominator

Page 11: An equation says that two things are equal. It will have an equals sign "=" like this: x+2=6

K- KM/H

When we were doing Scale and similarity we had some questions on the tests and on the homework that had KM/H. An abbreviation of kilometers per hour. A metric measure of speed.

Page 12: An equation says that two things are equal. It will have an equals sign "=" like this: x+2=6

L- Line Segment

A Line segment is the points that are at the end of each line. It’s called segment because usually the line is never ending, but the lines stop.

Page 13: An equation says that two things are equal. It will have an equals sign "=" like this: x+2=6

M-Minus

When I say minus I mean when we used minus when we did number lines and rational number. We also used it when we were doing the unit on exponent laws.

Page 14: An equation says that two things are equal. It will have an equals sign "=" like this: x+2=6

N- Negative

When we did the unit on Equations and Inequalities we learned how to do equations that had negative components in them.

Page 15: An equation says that two things are equal. It will have an equals sign "=" like this: x+2=6

O- Order of Operations

Order of Operations is one of the most important things we had to learn. It is important to learn because in almost all our units we needed to put it in our work.

Page 16: An equation says that two things are equal. It will have an equals sign "=" like this: x+2=6

P: Pythagorean Theorem

In a right angled triangle the square of the long side is equal to the sum of the squares of the other two sides.

Page 17: An equation says that two things are equal. It will have an equals sign "=" like this: x+2=6

Q-Quadrant (Circle)

A quarter of a circle (made by two radiuses at right angles and the connecting arc)

Page 18: An equation says that two things are equal. It will have an equals sign "=" like this: x+2=6

R- Radius

The distance from the center to the edge of a circle

Page 19: An equation says that two things are equal. It will have an equals sign "=" like this: x+2=6

S- Surface Area

The total area of the surface of a three-dimensional object

Page 20: An equation says that two things are equal. It will have an equals sign "=" like this: x+2=6

T- Tangent

The length of the opposite side divided by the length of the adjacent side.

Page 21: An equation says that two things are equal. It will have an equals sign "=" like this: x+2=6

U- Unequal

When the numbers in any situation are not equal.

Page 22: An equation says that two things are equal. It will have an equals sign "=" like this: x+2=6

V- Variable

A symbol for a number we don't know yet. It is usually a letter like x or y.

Page 23: An equation says that two things are equal. It will have an equals sign "=" like this: x+2=6

W- Whole Number

The numbers {0, 1, 2, 3, ...} etc. There is no fractional or decimal part. And no negatives

Page 24: An equation says that two things are equal. It will have an equals sign "=" like this: x+2=6

X- X-Axis

The line on a graph that runs horizontally (left-right) through zero.

Page 25: An equation says that two things are equal. It will have an equals sign "=" like this: x+2=6

Y- Y-Axis

The line on a graph that runs vertically (up-down) through zero.

Page 26: An equation says that two things are equal. It will have an equals sign "=" like this: x+2=6

Z- Zero

The whole number between -1 and 1, with the symbol 0. It Shows that there is no amount.
