ACTIVITTIES IN SUPPORT OF MIGRANT ,ADULT, CITIZENS
THREE SEPARATE LOCATIONS

2) HOUSE OF DETENTION OF VERONA/MONTORIO
primary-school and lower-secondary school teachers

3) SARTORI SCHOOL For adult handicap people
Primary school: teachers impart teaching of Italian language and civilization aimed at migrant adults ( more than 16 years)
Courses cover different areas, from illiterate to advanced (lower-secondary certificate)
Special classes are conceived to lead to the university-certified qualification of “Italian as a foreign language” (Cils degree- University of Siena)
7 Italian languages teachers primary level
(3 + 1/2 specific for detention house)
4 for the lower-secondary certificate ( both schools)
Upon filling in the form all applicants are given an appointment for a reception interview.
All relevant information are recorded and through individual assessment of language mastery the applicant is entered the suitable class (around 10 hours /week)
Lower-secondary teachers provide teachings in different subjects taking the students to the lower-secondary certificate which is the basic qualification to find a job (Italian English- math, science, - 14 Hours /week)
Foreign languages Computer studies and computer
repair Applied arts Yoga Italian Literature
Above considerations apply a great deal also to the House of Detention since the same teaching staff run similar classes.
On account of the singular environment of detention, some teachers are involved to supplement the basic courses with a series of other educational and entertaining events.
One teacher is appointed as an institutional coordinator between school and prison in order to:
Make and discuss educational proposals
Circulate all relevant information about students and teachers and our school manager
Around 200 offenders /year in the Italian languages courses
Around 50 offenders/year in the lower-secondary certificate
Around 60 offenders /year in the short courses (chess – forein language courses)
We calculate that around 30% people living in Montorio detention house is involved in our promoted courses (long or short)
