2015/16 MBJSLC – Season Structure
Meeting Sunday 7 June 2015 4pm at club
+ 2015 -16 Season Framework Sunday Club – increase focus on fun day, continue to grow
children’s confidence, teach skills in surf safety and awareness. Emphasis on ‘fun’, limit repetition to maintain interest. Encourage individual achievement , maintain attainment of ‘proficiencies’ in sea, sand and knowledge activities.
Competitive Surf Sports - provide a competitive surf sports program, focused participation in ‘Surf Carnivals & Events’ – utilising skills obtained at weekly junior club days and after school surf sport training sessions. Assist children to develop their skills and encourage individual and team participation in competition - Pool Champs, Participation Carnivals, NRC, ERC, Oceans.
Rookies – Continue to recognise the importance our Rookies program plays in the future and longevity of the MBSLC. Program focuses on providing a pathway for entry to the Senior Club – be it in competition, lifeguard patrol or as a member. Assist with Senior Club to improve integration with Rookies.
Family Surf Club - continue and improve the family focus of surf club through providing social activities for children and parents in a safe environment
Community - improve promotion of MBSLSC within the community

Weekly Junior Club Day
We need to increase the focus on fun outdoor activities that grow a child’s confidence, teach valuable life skills in surf safety and awareness. Emphasis on fun, not repetitive, keep interested.
Base around ‘fun’ not ‘hard work’, encourage individual achievement through the attainment of ‘proficiencies’ in surf, sand and knowledge activities and experiences.
+Club Day – 2015/16 SESSION TIMES
Tadpoles 9 to 10am – 5 & 6 year olds. One child to One Parent A group 10am to 11.30am - Focus is ‘FUN’ for 7 & 8 and 9, 9’s moving to
more extensive training as preparation for moving to B group B, C & Rookies group 11.00am to 12.30pm
STRUCTURED SESSIONS – Tadpole, A, B, C and Rookies co-coordinators to build template of structured sessions [month in advance] that incorporates activities, beach resource allocation. Aim is to build a junior club resource book. (Role definition, etc) Distribution of certificate proficiencies as targets for coaches training sessions.
COMMUNICATION Junior Director work with Group Co-ordinators on weekly comms for each
Co-ordinator to pass on to athletes. Sunday Session start – Co-ordinators accountable for session start of their
group – comms to coaches and managers in their group. Beach set up for water. Flags will be set up from A Group and sprints every second week on low tide. B & C pack-up.
On Sundays – Junior Director – primarily to acknowledge achievements/events.
Improve website / continued use of email, ‘closed’ facebook outline activities and up-coming events and details.

200m badge set for safety reasons, use of boards, participation in surf sports & carnivals
Carnival conditions are more demanding and we must show good capability Will set one course for this and adjust based on tide movement [more
consistency] Must be timed & recorded [we need more consistency, use of Officials] –
consistent and accurate recording by managers as part of athletes proficiency achievements
NON 200m BADGE – age group ‘certificate’ will be the focus which will include the use of boards in line with certificates.
SIGN IN – SIGN OUT Reviewing recording of attendance (capture in database ?). Look to improve our
information and stats. Continued use of different coloured beanie for each group – get beanie on sign
in and return beanie on sign out – turns as washing by each group. CLUB CHAMPS – Same format - Two Days RESOURCES – Over Winter will review boards [refurbish, replace] as well
as other resources. Co-ordinators to review their group resources and advise committee of requirements. Look for grants and fundraising options

BEACH SET UP AND CLOSE DOWN – A Group will set up beach , ie beach flags, sprint areas, first placement of buoys. B & C Group responsible for beach wrap up and equipment [incl BBQ] put away. Roster responsibility amongst groups.
CALENDAR – activity days, mini carnival, surf classic, club days at other beaches
BBQ – Need a BBQ co-ordinator, logistics and manage roster – funds for equipment.
GEAR STEWARDS - Need Gear Stewards in each of the Tadpoles, A B and C groups responsible for care, distribution, repairs. Assisting sourcing new equipment.
SPONSORS – Develop our sponsors: Paper Moon, Pitapit, Mills Reef, and find others
COFFEE – Keep existing Coffee Guy provider, chose not to get own machine
REGISTRATIONS – Will follow previous seasons in terms of notifications, email, website, notice to schools in September, North Shore Times, pre-agree cut-offs in terms of numbers for each group.
UNIFORMS – Treasurer has finalised 2014/15 stocktake, with Clothing and Uniform Co-ordinators, Confirm requirements/orders for coming year. Review providers

The focus is competitive surf sports through the participation in ‘Surf Carnivals & Events’
Utilising the skills obtained from the weekly junior club days and surf sport training sessions and entering competitions against other local surf clubs.

to join the surf sports program with the aim of bringing through keen athletes to a competitive level and developing our more competitive athletes to the best of their ability.

Away training and /or surf camps to be arranged for a better surf/wave experience especially leading in to NR Champs & Oceans

athletes will be responsible for care and repair as if they were their own Fee based, $300 - $400 depending on board for summer season,
