MESSAGE
Writing is the most valuable literary expression. The inculcation of passion for
creative thinking and writing amongst the students is one of the major objectives set by New Al Wurood International School. ‘E-petalia’, the online newsletter has been a step towards it and it has served as a great platform to vent out students’ passion for writing and encourage original thinking within them. Our student
authors have put across some amazing pieces of writing displaying their creative thinking and writing skills.
The publication of the online magazine included a lot of team work and the school is lucky to have a team of motivated students and teachers who played a strong role in envisioning the layout of "E-petalia".
We hope to use this newsletter partly as an additional tool of input to enrich the parents connect with the creative world of their children. Parents have been
partnering with us well in ensuring that our vision and mission succeed. We hope for your continued support in this regard, and wish that you would put this
newsletter to good use.
We hope you will welcome this new effort of ours to connect with you.

ASSOCIATION : SESSION 2
GAVEL’S CLUB SESSION
ON A RAINY DAY It was a Friday afternoon. My friends and I decided to go to beach. There were
six of us- Shavn, Mickel, Joel, Jeeva, Vicktor and I.
The climate was so impressive. The whole sky was dark with clouds. We thought
that it would rain and we would play enjoying it. In an hour, as we expected it
started raining.
We thought of a fun game we could play in the rain. I suggested of playing
‘Treasure Hunt’ and my friends agreed to it. We fell ourselves in two teams.
Jeeva, Joel and I are together and Shaun, Mickel and Victor as team two.
We looked for a stranger with whom we could entrust our treasure to be hunted.
Joel spotted a man and told him our plan. Fortunately, he agreed and Joel handed
the brown ball to him.
Joel asked him to hide the ball. The man went far from us and hid the ball. We
started hunting for the ball in teams. We searched for it for almost two hours. By
then, the rain became stronger.
Both the teams sat together and discussed different strategies. I suggested that
each one of us should walk in different direction and find the ball. The other
team also did the same. But all efforts were vain. No team could find the ball. Fi-
nally, we decided to quit and went back home in the afternoon.
That day was a memorable day in our lives. I wish I could go back to the day
once again and find the treasure!

ARE WE TOO DEPENDENT ON
COMPUTERS…?? It’s obvious we are! Why? The answer is simple. We have been so lazy to make
any effort by ourselves. For every obstacle we come across, we search on the
internet for solution.
People nowadays get 70% less oxygen compared to last 30 years’. Not just kids
but adults as well show the signs of fast fatigue. Child obesity is becoming a
worldwide issue because most of the time kids spend their time after their
school on their computers which may include laptops and desktops to play
games, watch videos. People use computers in every walk of their lives.
In a few years, majority of the people across the world will depend on comput-
ers for all their works to get done. If it happens this fast, in a couple of years,
computers will control the modern world, where we keep on fighting for our
freedom and rights, by using the power of artificial intelligence. What is the use
of the hard-earned freedom if we are again going to be controlled just by ma-
chines?
I do think computers are helpful and entertaining, but at the same time I too feel
dependent on computers for my studies. It is high time now that we should
break the barriers of dependence and try to make the world feel our impact.

THE LOST DREAMS
We see faces, every day, all the while
Most of them are plastered with smiles
They look happy and maybe they are.
But how many of them are really
content with where they are?
Did that little girl who wanted to be an astronaut reach the moon yet?
or is she trapped behind a desk,
in front of a computer instead?
A wall of responsibilities crashing down on her.
And does she even have the time
to gaze at the sky anymore?
Where is the boy with his superman
cape dying to save the world?
Does he even care about his family anymore?
We think that everyone has reached
their goal and perhaps goal by
society has been met.
But what about all their dreams?
Are they ALL shattered and lost, beyond reach?
Where DO all our dreams go?
Is there a somewhere we could
go and get them back' Cause if we could
I'd want to go there and never come back.
What a heavenly place must it be,
A place full of lost dreams
a place where there still is hope.

I OPENED A BOOK I opened a book and in I strode.
Now nobody can find me.
I’ve left my chair, my house, my road,
My town and my world behind me.
I’m wearing the cloak, I’ve slipped on the ring,
I’ve swallowed the magic potion.
I’ve fought with a dragon, dined with a king
And dived in a bottomless ocean.
I opened a book and made some friends.
I shared their tears and laughter
And followed their road with its bumps and bends
To the happily ever after.
I finished my book and out I came.
The cloak can no longer hide me.
My chair and my house are just the same,
But I have a book inside me.

ATROCIOUS
There she laid, cold and pale
Watching her host close the door,
She knew danger was coming forth
But felt helpless, and could endure no more.
She could not fight back, as her hands were tied
Tears were dried,
Could not give up either but as he laid his eyes
Upon her, she wished she died.
Second by second,
Step after step,
He came nearer,
And upon her he leapt.
His haste was low,
Her screams were high,
She begged him to stop
When he abused her that night.
The morning arrived,
The sun shined bright
But due to the last night’s deeds,
The little girl had died.

SUCCESS Success is the result of hard work, confidence and learning from
failure. Success depends on your efforts. If you fail 99 times, then get
up at the 100th time and achieve success. Failure is the stepping stone
to success. It seems to be difficult until it’s done. Winners are those
people who never gave up and achieved success. Failure is the
powerful success if you learn from it. Success is the first step towards
our life. Success is the journey not the destination. Believe in yourself
and nothing can stop you. Behind every successful man there is
unsuccessful efforts. Success makes your life beautiful. Great works
are not done by our brain but they are done by heart.
~ NAJWA JUHANA FATIMA
Value of time
There is a saying “time and tide waits for none.” The saying is indeed
true. Every moment brings with it thousands of golden opportunities.
Every minute is a store house of chances. As we go through life, we
realized for ourselves that if there is anything in the world that will
never come back, it is time. Once time crosses into the threshold of
the past, it never returns to the present. Those who have realized this
basic truth of life, never allow time to pass by unused. Unplanned
living is the surest way to kill time. Those individuals who plan
beforehand seldom fail; they are able to start their work on time and
able to complete their work on time. The best way to utilize time is to
make a time table to do everything on its right time.

THE GOOD
TREE Trees are a gift for man
Helpful, it is to all humans ,
preserving it, is our duty.
Before you cut down my trees,
Look up high and see,
Branches moving with the air,
Green, healthy and beautiful.
Moving in the morning sun,
The Creator made the trees,
We should not really try,
To let the good tree die.

PEACE

If there is harmony in the family,
There will be order in the nation.
If there is order in nation,
There will be peace in the world.

YOUR SMALL LIFE IS SOMEONE
ELSE’S BIG DREAM. We always want to live life of others without even knowing how lovely our life
is. Title says it all...most of the time what we want doesn't become our dream.
We rarely appreciate our own life and strive hard to get the life which may
not be meant for us.
While you hate your life just because you can’t get what you want, someone is
praying to have a life like yours. When I hear somebody saying that life is
hard, I am always tempted to ask compared to what?.
To find the beauty of life, don’t complain but compliment . When a beautiful
reality looks unusual, you will realize that the beauty of reality is superior to
any dream what so ever. Be happy with what you are….
