Congratulations to RFL footballers Jed Lawton and Glenn Vardanega on their selection in the VCFL squad to play South Australia Country last Tuesday. Unfortunately for Vardanega he was named on emergency. Lawton was an emergency last year but, good performances, with both the RFL and Ganmain Grong G rang Ma tong enabled him to go one

better this year and, win a place in the starting lineup.

These two players along with Greg McKelvie (Coolamon), Barry Suckling (East Wagga-Kooringal) and Philip Beames (Narrandera) were selected in a squad to represent NSW against Queensland on July 16. McKelvie, Suckling and Beames were Riverina's most outstanding players in the recently completed NSW Championships.

A 32 man squad has been named for Riverina's allimportant VCFL semi-final against Geelong Football League. Although declaring themselves unavailable for representative selection earlier in the season, Mark Fraser (Turvey Park), Les Parish (Griffith) and Wayne Carroll (Turvey Park) have been nominated for the squad.

Last week's games were one-sided with the exception of Wagga v Ganmain GGM. After leading for most of

the day the Tigers were outpointed in the last quarter to go down narrowly in a hard-fought contest.

Match of the Round this weekend should be Griffith's home game against Wagga Tigers. Tigers have had a bad run with injury and it remains to be seen just who will be available this week. Griffith had a most convincing win over lowly Leeton last Sunday.

Shane Ruyg booted 8 goals and received good support from Gerry Toscan who notched 7 majors. Wagga will need to closely guard both players.

On their home ground the Swans have a distinct advantage and should take out the game in a close tussle.

The other Sunday game brings together Coolamon and GGGM at Kindra Park, both lost start winners. Ganmain will start favourites but Coolamon at home will make life difficult for the Lions.

The other two fixtures are set down for Saturday with East Wagga meeting Turvey Park and Narrandera at home to Leeton.

Phil Cahalan is in terrific form for the Hawks but he will need plenty of support if his team is to worry Turvey Park who have a dynamic full forward in Wayne Carroll.

Narrandera were disappointing lcist week but have a chance to make amends against a determined Leeton.

Selections: NARRANDERA v Leeton; East WaggaKooringal v TURVEY PARK; Coolamon v GANMAING.G.M; GRIFFITH v Wagga.

last Sunday saw us venture oul 10 Kindra Park Coolamon of which saw us lose both 1st aM 2nd grade games but coming up trumps rn Ille U 1 Bs.

The First grade went down by 1 o goals after again gelling to within 2 or 3 goals a few t ,me_s alld lhreatening to make a real game of II but could not continue on which let Coolamon slip away iust before hall time and e~ch lime w3 looked to begetting a run

on. Phil Conalan was rn everything all day in a superb all round effort to win the mug and Wagga Central Seafood Award. Steve Absolum playir,g strongly in the centre to collect the Turvey Tops petrol award (thanks very much Huthy) and Jamie Ross relishing his on the ball chance taking out the Wagga Engineering b ~ .

Our 2nd 18 were right in the game until midway through the third quarter when Coolamon got a break which eventually pro· ved the diflere11ce. It was good to see the good roll up against Coolamon. Keep it up fellas. Dave 'Mary· McLintod< took out the mug with a top game at full back, Timmy (our new hero) Lo·1eshack winni1g the Wagga Engineering Award and Andrew (BungenJ Dore coming off a Pavillion Stair ride to take OJI the coke award. .

Our shining light in the football was the U1 8s as they ran out convincin9 winners with Ma·k Armstrl)l1g winning the towel afte< his frne 7 goal haul, Chris David keeping up his consistent season to fake out the socks alld Dale Perry getting the coke. .

The netball girts had a mixed day with the A gradewinning 27· 12 and the mug going to the prolific coke drinking Trish Carroll whilst 8 grade went down 9-18 with Emma Huban! continuing her good formandtheJuniorsand going cown 13· 18 with Tracy Logan as best player.

Coogratulations go to Barry, Karer and Mathew Sucklmg on the birth of their daugllterisister Jessica Grace.

Players and supporters don't forget our Funny Money Night tonight after the game. Let's get a good crowd together for a great night, also there will be a clut meeting to be held oo Thursday 13th ,une in the hall starting at 7.30pm. all supporters, players, past and present are urged to attend.

This week we play host to Turvey Park.

In a seesawing game we struggled for three quarters but found something in the final quarter to record a good win over the Wagga Tigers. Steven Carroll with a solid game at centre half forward won the Sports Club Award from David Currie who won the Strouds Towe I award with Jamie Crozier taking out the socks. Miltons Gear Award votes were: 3 - Steven Carroll; 2 - David Currie; 1- Scott Hamblin.

The Reserves had their chances to win but couldn't go on with it in the final Quarter. Bowling Club Award went to Glenn Evans, Fairless Towel Award to Mark McCarry with the socks going to John Beasley.

The U 18s also had their chances but had a sleep lor a quarter. Four Hotels Award went to Michael Hoogveldt, the Towel award to David Holgate with the socks going to Steven Holgate.

A big (and long) ~ay last Friday cateriiig for Gilmores Clearing Sale. Many thanks to the workers who assisted on the day.

The new toilet block has been completed and not before. lime as they were needec years ago. A big improvement to the ground as well as new changerooms and showers for the netballers. With tractor driving being the main order of the day there is not much news.

This week we travel to do battle with our old rivals the Coolamon Grasshoppers.

NEWS FROM THE VCFL

AFL Stars go Bush

Not only does country football produce more than 50 per cent of recruits to the AFL competition, it is now attracting a large number of former AFL stars.

Players selected in a team of AFL players playing country football have more than 3,000 Senior AFL matches between them. Eight are members of the prestigious AFL 200 Club, ten have played more than 100 senior AFL games with only Premiership player Leon Baker (Essendon - 86 games), Les Parish (94 games) and players selected on the interchange bench Gary Odgers (91 games), Peter Bradbury (72 games), Michael Reeves (63 games), Daryl Cunningham (41 games) and Ruckman Alastair Ford (39 games) having played fewer than 100 senior matches. Many have also represented Victoria at senior State of Origin level.

The Victorian Country Football League is delighted with the move by these players to bolster country footy and by taking leading roles within the local communities provide a boost, not only to footy, but to the country communities in general.

A recent agreement between the AFL Players' Association and the Victorian Country Football League has seen the implementation of a procedure to assist country clubs and AFL players in the transition from AFL to country football.

The influx of experience and talent from AFL players has given a vital boost to the standard of country football which allows the VCFL to provide a significant service to the Victorian community and, in particular, to the Victorian economy.

Country football generates in excess of $1 OOM to the economy of this State each vear.

The team titled "Former AFL Players Playing in the VCFL" has been selected as follows:

Backline: Ron Andrews Essendon/Collingwood (158 senior AFL games) CFL Club: Wentworth - Grant Lawrie St Kilda/Fitzroy(168 senior AFLgames) VCFLClub: Tatura - Robert Elphinstone St Kilda (157 senior AFL games) VCFL Club: North Ballarat.

Halfbacks: Mark Bos Geelong (195) Tooleybyo - Bill Picken Collingwood (240) Hamilton - Gary Foulds Essendon (300) Mooroopna.

Centre line: Robert Neal Geelong (220) Merve Neagle Essendon/Sydney Swans (204) Sale Geoff Cunningham St Kilda (224) Traralgon

Half Forwards: Wayne Blackwell Carlton (110) Portland - Jim Jess Richmond (223) Balranald - Xavier Tanner North Melbourne/Melbourne (111) Shepparton.

Forwards: Les Parish Fitzroy/Melbourne (94) Griffith - Tony Morwood Sydney Swans (229) Rye - Phil Carman Essendon/Carlton/Melbourne/North Melbourne (101) North Bendigo.

Followers: Alistair Ford St Kilda/Footscray (39) East Ballarat - Leon Baker Essendon (86) Maffra -Jim Buckley Carlton (164) North Ballarat.

Interchange: Gary Odgers St Ki Ida (91) East Ballarat - Steven Carey Essendon (112) Warragul - Peter Bradbury Essendon (72) South Bendigo - Michael Reeves Fitzroy (63) Cobram - Bernie Harris Fitzroy/Brisbane Bears (107) Terang - Daryl Cunningham Essendon/St Kilda (41) Maffra - Paul Morwood St Kilda-Rye.

RIVERINA UMPIRES ASSOCIATION Sponsored by Wagga Mutual Credit Union

It was lucky we gave Dick Judd a mention in the notes last week because he has now retired from umpiring. Dick will be missed by the Umpire Association of which he was the senior vice-president, umpires fitness training coach and the umpires advocate at the tribunal. Let's hope Dick makes a comeback one day, because he was not only a top u;npire but he put a lot of work into the association as well.

This week we will look at one of the great highlights of the game: MARKING CONTESTS

Spirit of the Law: "The player whose prime objective is to contest the ball shall be permitted to do so."

(a\ Where an infringement is observed, a free kick must be awarded.

(b) Where there is a co-incidental interference (no infringement' when the ball is the prime objective -play on.

(c) When a player leaps early, the attempt must be realistic.

CHEQUE ACCOUNTS Members are reminded that your credit union now offers cheque accounts. Costs associated with these accounts are kept to a minimum, e.g., $7.50 per book of 25 forms is the only charge. 100 form books and pay-in booklets are also available. All government charges are met by the Credit Union, and the account pays an attractive rate of interest as well. It is worthwhile comparing our cheque account with those at the banks. Members who already have a Wagga Mutual Cheque Account are already enjoying the cost saving convenien_ce of operating such an account, however please do not wnte cheques against uncleared funds. Processing of _member cheques is quite rapid and we are experiencing a_n increase in the number of cheques written against either nonexistent or uncleared funds. Please take care and keep a close watch on your account balances.

\\l;J!)!J;J ,\\11t11;1I

(d) The laws are to be interpreted to provide every opportunity for players who are legitimately attempting to contest the ball to do so.

One of the most common infringements that occurs at marking contests, is when a player who is trying to punch the ball away puts one hand on his opponents shoulder. Even if there is no pressure on the players shoulder this is an immediate free kick.

The other common infringement at marking contests is the push in back before the ball arrives, this is a free kick, but a player who is standing under the ball can put his hand out and prevent a player from backing into him. As long as he doesn't push the player forward, he is allowed to hold his ground in this manner.

Let's hope we see plenty of marking skill, and umpiring skill displayed this weekend. Good luck to all those taking part.

FINANCIAL COUNSELLING Are you having difficulty in making ends meet? Perhaps you are, but are reluctant to ask anyone for help. Your Credit Union is able to offer advice which may help you overcome difficult times with your finances. It is most important to face up to financial hard times sooner rather than later.

Loan repayments - there is increasing evidence to suggest that many borrowers hesitate to contact their lender when difficulties arise. At Wagga Mutual we stress the importance of talking about any problems ~ou may be encountering in making your loan repayments. It is so much easier for everyone if this is done quickly - as soon as a problem arises, or better still - if you know in advance that a problem may be ahead. Your Credit Union will assist you - perahps by renegotiating your loan or coming to some other mutually satisfactory arrangement.

55 TOMPSON STREET, WAGGA WAGGA- PH 069 215044

This season is certainly not · one for reigning premiers. Collingwood's success (or lack of) this season has been well noted, but locally, too

· Farrer League's reigning premiers are also having their problems.

MCU, Division One premiers of the past three years, have made their worst start to a season for more than ten

years. With only two wins from five star.ts there are some who, even at this stage, are being rash enough to suggest the Goannas won't even make the final four, let alone the grand final in which they've appeared for the last ten years. • .

Then there's the Rock-Yerong Creek Reserves, backto-back premiers of 1989 and 1990, currently in only fifth position. The Magpies didn't lose a game between the second semi-final of '89 and this year's first match, but have won only three this season. . ,,...

The only 'Division One' reigning premier still in top form is MC U U 18s. The young Goannas are without loss and head the points table with Temora.

South Wagga-Tolland, Division Two Grand Finalists of the last three years, winning the'title in 1988 and 1990, haven't had it 1easy either.

Prior to last Saturday's win - their second only for the season - the Dons were bottom of the Division Two Seniors' ladder. Whi 1st they had been bottom of the ladder in Division One in 1985 and 1986, they had never suffered that dubious 'honour' previously.

From all reports, their win over Uranquinty-Kapooka may have indicated a turn for.the better, but certainly, prior to that victory the Dons, as reigning premiers were 'doing it hard'.

Not so the South Wagga-Tolland Reserves who-have maintained their permiership-winning form of 1990 by being undefeated leaders of the Division Two Reserves competition.

So, with several of the 'regular' premiers having the job ahead of them, grand finals in Farrer League, 1991, could feature some 'new' cast members!

Congralulations to our First graders 11] tor their much needed, morale boosting ·win. ft Shows what can happen when :he right attitude, confidence and discipline _ _ __ are applied. It was greal to watch and ni ue & w><1E musl be carried on because that was sT•1•es only lhe start. Thanks to lhe ladies fer the 'magic b1eakfast'. .

The 18s had anolher good win and are in fine touch with an excess of numbers. Steve Pellow and Gary Edwards led the goal scoring. Wall tells me it was a great team effort in front of a good crowd.

For once we had an abundance of numbers for lhe Seconds after heavy recruiting during the week.

We compleled well except for the last Quarter. Beller players were Simon Harpley. Scott Cornford,_Warren Block, Wayne Krause, Jan Miller (1slgame-6 kicks1n last quarter) and Jamie Coleman. 6ig Mill collided with a goal p~st and 11 was still shaking on Tuesday. Rumours are circulating aboul more secret signings for this week.

As mentioned a good team effort by the Firsts wilh many players going hard all day. Polly took many grabs and rue· ked lirelessly to share besl on ground with Thommo who made more dashes oul of the backline lhan .Gazza·s GreyhOunds al feeding time. Keg was mercurial along with Oags. Bushy and the always entertaining Philip Block. After one of Pip's goals the ball caught on fire re·entenng lhe earlhs a1mosphere and landed on top of the Bulkhead. Think aboul that one!! .

A big welcome back to Cag's for his first game. Th1s_week we meet our close neighbours/old rivals/arch ener11es at Ariah Park so let's give them everything and have some more wins. Don't forget the CommitlEe meeting this coming Tuesday. GO THE ROOS

wllo started the game with only 14 players. Surprisingly they really put it to us for a qua,ter but nur:ibers and talent shone tllrougll in tile end.

Skinny Grant had an excellent game, !l3~~~~5e. lilting the standard of Bare11ans footy to

Amid tile msh of camera crews. the excited jargon of 1V reporters and the roar of the crowd, Barellan Firsts fell asleep. The three weeks rest and tile big win previously lulled us into thinking we were a bit alright. Ardlethan played well. We played atrociously and unbelieveabty we won'

Who won tile socks? Shawn did and if he didn't he should have. Shawn pulled down a few good marks and was very mobile around the ground. Well done.

Peter Inglis had a good first ha1f taking some lovely marks. Damian Conlan won tile towel with a gutsy powertul game.

MANGOPLAH HOTEL

Don & Malle Baker welcomes all.

Our third loss for the season and third at home. Let's hope it's the last at home and away. On a brighter note - congratulations go to Leigh Brown on his selection in the N SW Squad. It's a big effort and we wish him well.

The Seniors although beaten did have HLua & Gl>L□ some good players. The M ii tons Gear •11N□~ Awards went to Andrew Bucllnom with 3votesand tile towel. Two votes and the mug went to Leigh Brown (he might as well go and start picking out clothes). Rick 'the dick' Collins won the Lyn tivin Hair Studio award.

The Reserves just keep impro~ing and Aow are eQual ladder leader5. The Riverina Spraying Service Towel went 10 Mick Wheeler. The mug went to William Lloyd with young Mark Vincent getting the one vote. A big thanks to the U 18s tllat filled in from the Bush Barrassi.

Netball: Our Junior girls U 15s had an enormous win against me new opposition team with Cheryl Smith giving all her ~est. well done girls. B Grade had a win! The filler-ins were a great help. but our defences Jodie Denton and Corrina Weir played well too. A grade were beaten though played and fought better against some tall opposition- isn't that right Julie Baker1 Donna Hudson and Milessa Edwar~s and Wendy Maher (the 3 pointer).

This week we travel out to Barellan and it's time to stand up and be counted.

THE ROCK-YERONG CREEK MAGPIES There were a few surprises everywhere

m over the weekend gone but ii was a toss up whether the Liberals or the Magpies received the biggest kick in the bum. The only consolation that Nick Greiner h~s is that he played a draw whilst we finished miles behind. It was a game that probably should have been well and truly won but

BLACK & WHITE credit must be given to Temora who showed STRIPES m•Jch more desire and spirit. Still there

were a couple of good things to come out of the game and the obvious one was Mick's return to form and he won the mug. Jimmy and Barney once again put in their usual gutsy efforts and they won the Sandman Mug and Riverina Spraying Service Towel.

The Seconds had to rely on the 18s to back up and were glad that they did. The five that did all contributed more than their share. This was amplified by Andy Terlich winning the Mug, Scott Lewington was solid all day and he won the Porky and Verdo Award. "Dags" showed his class whilst John Bauer was his usual solid self and both these won $1 O from the Ladies Auxiliary.

The 18s were up against some taller timber but were far from disgraced. It was pleasing to see a full contingent so keep up the training, listen to Terlo and the rewards will come. Andy Chaplin won $1 O with "Strawbs" and Lee Sonneman -each getting $5.

Belated ·congrat~lations go to Terlo on making the State Squad. This is just reward for a person who tries so hard on his game and is a player that any young boy could model their game on. Well done Teri's.

The netballers were successful in 3 out of 4. The mighty midgets won 10-3. The 15s went down 4 9-3 with award going to Sharee Leaver. B grade won 41-39 with award to Katrina Hannam. A grade won 52-26 with Anne Mingay winning the award. Whilst on netball don't forget their Trivia Night tonight in the clubrooms. A tea will be served prior so everyone stay and join in the fun.

Today we welcome the Marrar boys in a game that we hope is very unsuccessful for them. We must return to the winning list tc restore some well overdue confidence and club spirit. We al know we are capable of much better than we have beer showing.

How close can you get! The boys only missed out by 5 points but we proved that North Wagga are not unbeatable. I thought they may have shown us a bit more respect after the game but their attitude and language proved otherwise. It may be to our benefit later on.

Gav Graetz played a ripper and took Dick Carey apart for the first award, he

■ BLACK, RED SASH

was even handicapped with his shorts being around his knees most of the time, Val; braces, a belt, anything please! Jimmy Corbett proved he can play with the best and took out the 2nd award, it looks as though the seconds will have to do without him for a while yet. Gerald took the third award.

The Seconds also went down narrowly. Big Jack was welcomed back and took the mug. The other awards went to: Daryl I Floyd and G inge Bennett. Jack and Horse's conversation at the pub later went something like: "Did you see the goal I kicked?" - "Yeah but who gave it to you, anyway what about my goal?"

The Thirds were again beaten but put up a good fight. Their awards went to Nick Kouges and Andrew Beck. These boys are improving every week, and still need encouragement from all supporters.

We must congratulate all league reprsentatives and especially Gerald who made the state squad.

Please remember that all memberships are now due and don't forget that Grant Luhrs is at the pub tomorrow.

DONS Club Notes

The Dons are back!' ... Well, if Saturday's form is any indication, that's certainly the case. Of course, each week is a new ball game, so it's important not to just think things will go better with the return of players from injury - we will i1ave to work at it!!

On the wide spaces of Maher Oval our oft-reported 'lack of speed' was certainly not prominent when the Firsts blitzed Uranquinty-Kapooka in an opening quarter unparalleled for some time. Unfortunately that fine effort wasn't maintained for the remainder of the game, but it was certainly a start which won the match for us.

Players man-of-the-match was Dean Palframan from Col Parmenter, who won the Video Ezy award. Eric Frazier was the recipient of Huthy's Turvey Tops Car Wash. But awards could well have gone to a good many players, as it was, indeed, a top team effort!

The Twos set the scene for the Ones with another fine win to remain undefeated, and on top, after one-third of the competition. ~

Awards went to Pat Murphy (Mug), Jeff Jackson (Video Ezy) and 'Jack' Currie (Turvey Tops Car Wash), but, as the coach said, there could well have been awards go to all players such was the TEAM performance.

Saturday night's "Games Night" was a real success in every way and it's once again congratulations to Stewie, Carol and their 'crew' for organising such a top show. The support was much greater than the last social outing so let's hope that practice continues.

On Saturday our mighty U11 s went to the top of the table when they beat the previously undefeated Wagga Tigers. Congratulations kids!!

Thanks to all those who (a) contributed to: (b) helped the Street Raffle this morning.

On a less pleasant note we wish former President, Pat Crouch a speedy recovery to good health following his recent heart attack.

Today, RAAF. Remember the first meeting, Firsts?!? Let's make amends with another display like last week's ... and Twos? just 'keep on winning'!

ROSELi.AS Club Notes I have not much at all to say this week. Both our

Firsts and Seconds were soundly beaten by better sides on the day.

Both Rosella outfits had to play catch up football all day and no side, however good they think they are cannot afford to do that. The Seconds lost the game from the start due to SWT getting the jump on us

POLL I E'S

immediately, from then on catch up footy was the name of the game. There appeared to be no 'togetherness' and individual football prevailed with some good performances by individuals. The Rosella Mug went to Johna and the Courage Mug to Patto - well done.

In the case of our Seniors, we got the initial jump but could not carry it on, or was it the thought we were going to win? If that was the case, the answer is clear, never think that about ANY side. I hear around the club that we need big men. My answer to that is, sure, we haven't got big men at this stage of the season so therefore it is up to our small side to carry the flag and run with it. To be fair there were good patches of footy by our players, but patches are not good enough.

All players in both teams must listen to Bruce and Coco and follow their directions to the letter. Until we do this we will not have the success we all deserve. All supporters are behind everyone of you and it's only YOU working as a team that can get us into the finals in 1991.

The Rosella Mug once again went to Darren McDonald and the Courage Mug to Bruce Leaver.

Let's really turn it on today against Whitton/Yanco amt-show everyone that we are a force to be reckond with.

See you at Bruce and Sandra's after the game and let's be able to sing OUR song for both Firsts and Seconds. R.J.M.

BWES Club Notes

. Our Reserve grades started the day off last week wI_th a resounding victory over the Tigers. Again Michael Walker played an outstanding game to take out the mug. Mark Penna grabbed everything in sight to win the Graham's Mensland award, Casey Turnbull took out the Trims and Simon the Video Ezy award.

Others to stand out in a fine team effort were young Wally, Larry Turnbull and Mark Best. . The Senior match whilst not being as convincing was 1ust as satisfying with the boys having to fight every inch of the way to record a well deserved win.

Awards went to Rod Knagge (mug), Michael Morton (Rudds), Brent Milthorpe (Trims) and Dave Louttit (Video Ezy).

Good performances were also put by Don, Craig Morton and Fester.

Congratulations to Peter and Maureen on the birth of their new centre half furward Patrick Thomas.

As everyone knows by now the date was changed for the Slave Trade Evening mentioned last week and it will be held tonight at our clubrooms beginning at 7.00.

Today we welcome the Bushpigs to Clarke Oval for what should be two high standard and entertaining matches.

DIVISION TWO CLUB NOTES ··························································································· BUSHPIGS Club Notes

The Pigs played strongly in both grades showing strength and depth all over the field. The Firsts showed their fitness to outplay a very keen RAAF side. In a highly standard and fast moving game players to show out included the .'rock' of centre half back, ugly dog kicks who had an initial deadening effect on many RAAF attacks. Don Lane led hard all day and was rewarded with a bag of eight goals.

Goals must have been coming easily, even Moose managed to snare a couple. Simms once again showed his guts and stamina. Encouragement awards went to Raymond Bryce and the chocolate mouse: Final score Pigs 18.12-120 d RAAF 15.11-101.

The Seconds showed fine form on Saturday with a 102 point win. Players were strong all over the ground and a great deal of pressure is being placed on several first grade players. Ben Adams enjoyed his walk in the pantz at centre half forward his strong and skillful play earned him the mug. Bill 'The Bride' Reid was unnwaveringly solid in the last line of defence and once again the dashing sibes had more runs than an overfed Pakistani. Final score Pigs 21.15-141 d RAAF 6.2-38.

It's great to see the club going from strength to strength. The pressure is on and everyone has to work hard to get a game. This weekend is the start of the second round and should see titanic tussles in both grades at Cootamundra.

All the best piggies.

TIGERS Club Notes

Although beaten it was a pleasing effort as for as the future of the club goes. Many expected Cootamundra to give us a good drumming but the Tigers pulled out something extra to push them right out to the finish. Michael (Redman) Wright couldn't take a trick, everywhere he went the ball followed him making him one of the Tigers best with 8 goals. Phil Ryan once again played an important part tacking 6 goals.

Ron (Bugs) Gordon played superbly around the ground to win the Greg Eckley AMP Insurance award. Rick (Mr Gym) Young took out the mug after another top performance. Woody (sore ankle) Longford played strongly as did Errol Boots, Mussy Gordon and Keith McBean.

The Reserves were given a football lesson but as long as you keep trying things will come our way. Mick Weymouth just keeps plugging away all day to receive the mug. Chris Murphy not only enjoyed himself on the field he did a good job of it off the field. Well done Murf.

Big Steve talked and chased hard all ay for a top effort. Jim Bradley tried all day as did Errol (I'll deliver anywhere) Cochrane. Tony Wheatly showed us the art of grass skiing slightly damaging his back. Terry Emmerson also had a top game.

This week the Whitton-Yanco (have 2 sides will travel) Football Club go to Uranquinty to take on the Rosellas which is a vital game. So two victories is a must.
