MBA Program

The ICFAI University, Mizoram (IUM) offers the two year

MBA Program (Industry oriented) for corporates on

distance learning mode. The MBA Program is a broad-based

management program which will provide good

understanding in different aspects of management, relevant

to a working executive. This program has been specially

designed for working executives keeping in mind their

requirements and other aspects so as to enable them to work

towards a management degree while working. This program

is not offered to individual students and can be pursued

only through a corporate tie-up.

Objectives

• To provide the students a broad knowledge of concepts,

policies and techniques applicable for effective and

efficient management of business.

• To familiarize students on applying management tools

in real business situations.

• To impart skills necessary for successful managers.

Module System

The program has 20 subjects divided into four modules of

5 subjects each. For each year two modules can be studied

and completed.

Student Handbook

Each student will be supplied with a Student Handbook

which contains all the rules and regulations of the respective

programs, including detailed curriculum, academic calendar,

etc.

IUM reserves the right to change the curriculum, program

structure, choice of electives and the rules relating to

administration, admissions, examinations, fee structure and

all other matters relating to the program.

Eligibility

Bachelor’s Degree (any discipline).

Duration: Two to four years (depending on the subject-

wise waivers a student is entitled for and the frequency of

appearing and qualifying in the examinations).

Medium of instruction: English.

Validity of enrollment

The students are required to complete all 4 modules of

the Program within a maximum period of four years from

the date of enrollment.

Distance Education Program

The MBA Program is essentially based on self-study,

assignments and examinations.

Self-Study: IUM provides a detailed study plan and

prescribed books specially designed (as per the curriculum

of the IUM) and meant for self-study.

Contact classes: Students have the option to attend contact

classes. Details are given on page no.6.

Assignments: Subject-wise assignments will be provided

to all the enrolled students. They are required to complete

and send the same to the University for evaluation. Based

on their performance they can appear for the examinations.

Assignments carry a weightage of 30%.

Examinations: The examinations serve to finally assess and

certify the students' understanding of the subjects. For

examinations 70% weightage is assigned.

The examinations are conducted four times a year in January,

April, July and October.

Model question papers with suggested answers

The model question papers with suggested answers based

on examination pattern are included in the respective

workbooks.

Enrollment dates

In order to become eligible to appear for the examinations,

the students are required to enroll into the program on or

before the dates given on page 5.

The examinations are held at test centers, as indicated on

Examinations are generally conducted on Saturdays in

January, April, July and October. The schedule of the

examinations is given in the table below:

Online registration facility

All students are required to register for their examinations

(including payment of fee) using the online facility only, as

the operations of examinations department are fully

computerized.

Test centers

Eligibility for appearing in examinations

Students will be eligible to appear for examinations for the

first module (comprising of 5 subjects) six months after the

date of enrollment. Subsequently, students can complete each

module once every six months.

Students will be required to progress in the program

module-wise, sequentially. In order to advance to the

next module students should not have more than one

backlog in the ongoing module. This backlog must

be cleared along with the next module. However, a

backlog subject cannot be carried forward beyond one

module. For example a backlog subject of Module I

cannot be carried to Module III. Within a module

students can appear for examinations in any order of

the subjects and for any/all subjects at a time.

Grading System

Performance of students in examinations will be

evaluated through the following grades:

A = Excellent

B = Very Good

C = Good

D = Unsatisfactory

E = Poor

The system of converting the grades to percentage

equivalents is as follows:

A = 80% and above

B = 60% to 79.99%

C = 50% to 59.99%

D = 40% to 49.99%

E = Below 40%

The scores in the assignment and examination will be

added and a composite grade is determined.

Passing Criteria

For successful completion of a subject, students will be

required to secure at least 'C' grade. In the event of

securing 'D' or ‘E’ grade in any subject, students will

be required to re-appear for examination of that subject.

Students with prior qualifications are eligible to get waivers

What the qualifications refer to:

• CFA means a person, who is a Chartered FinancialAnalyst from the CFA Council.

• CA means a person, who has passed the finalexaminations conducted by the Institute of CharteredAccountants of India.

• CWA means a person, who has passed the finalexaminations conducted by the Institute of Cost andWorks Accountants of India.

• MA (Economics) from any University.

• MCA from any University.

The contact classes and interaction with experienced faculty constitute an important stagein the learning methodology by enabling the students to gain better understanding ofthe subjects and also to clarify any doubts in the respective subjects. Such classes supplementthe students efforts through self-study.

They are especially beneficial for working executives who may not find sufficient timeto prepare and plan for the examinations well in advance. The contact classes of eachsubject will have about 12-14 sessions per subject covering a total of 15-18 hours.

Benefits of attending the contact classes

Regular attendance of the contact classes enable students to:

● discuss and clear doubts and queries pertaining to the topics covered in the subjects.

● gain better understanding of the subjects covered.

● understand the concepts well.

● understand the examination pattern and obtain tips on preparing well for theexaminations through discussion of previous question papers.

● get into a disciplined mode and regular study.

Contact classes: The contact classes are optional and are conducted by the Federationof Universities subject to registration of a minimum of 25 students per subject/perlocation, as per the MOU between IUM and the company.

Fee: Fee for contact classes will be based on the MOU entered with the respectivecompany. The classes will be conducted at the premises of that company, subjectto registration of a minimum of 25 candidates per subject per location.

Contact Classes

The Council of Icfai University MBA Graduates (CIMBAG) was established in 2007 as

an Alumni Body for the benefit of all those students who successfully completed the MBA

Program under the distance education mode. Currently, there are over 3,500 such alumni

working with various blue chip organizations all over India. CIMBAG is committed to

build a strong network among its members by establishing Chapters at various cities.

Mission & Governance: CIMBAG is primarily focused to help the members through

multiple membership services; and also works to promote and disseminate the philosophy

and values of the ICFAI University by interacting closely with its members and the corporate

world. CIMBAG functions under the overall guidance of a Board of Governors. Chapter

Executive Committees (CECs), consisting of alumni members from different batches and

of varying backgrounds, guide the functioning of CIMBAG at the chapter/city level. The

CECs are responsible for organizing and conducting all local events and activities.

Enrollment

Applications received from the students are checkedfor the basic eligibility criteria and the eligible studentsare enrolled into the program under the distancelearning mode. The decision of the Universityadmissions committee is final in this regard.

The enrollment for this program will bethrough the corporate tie-up only. Thisprogram is not available to individualstudents directly.

No enrollment of foreign citizens

The admission into the distance learning program isnot open to foreign citizens due to visa restrictions.They may write to the Registrar for guidance on thismatter.

Fee remittance

The fee per student for the program is indicated inthe Fee Schedule on page no.10. The remittance canbe done by way of Demand Draft. Demand Draftshould be in favor of "IUCF A/c IUM" payable atHyderabad. The respective company will be responsiblefor collection and payment of the fee to the University.

Please note that there will be no reduction in fee evenif a student is eligible to claim subject-wise waiversbased on prior qualifications as indicated on page no.5.

No refund

The amount once paid is not refundable under anycircumstances.

Right to amend rules

The University reserves the right to amend the rulesand regulations wherever considered necessary andappropriate. Such amendments will be intimated tothe students. Therefore, this publication and thedescriptions contained herein are not to be construedas a contract binding the University to any specificpolicies. Possible changes include, but are not limitedto curriculum and course content, passingrequirements, eligibility criteria for examinations,fee schedule, refund policy, examination pattern,certification and designation, and such other mattersas may be considered relevant.

Guidelines

The students are advised to read the followingguidelines carefully before completing the ApplicationForm for Enrollment.

a. The Application Form should be filled in Capital

Letters.

b. Please respond to all the information sought.

c. Additional sheets may be used, if necessary.

d. Ensure that the Application Form is signed.

Subject-wise waivers

Applicants who are eligible for subject-wise waiversbased on prior qualifications (as indicated onpage no.5) have to submit proof of those priorqualifications like marksheets, certificates, etc.

Photocopies of certificates

a. Photocopies of certificates regarding date of birthand educational qualifications shall be enclosed withthe Application Form for Enrollment.

b. Original Certificates should not be sent.

The Coordinator and students are advised to take noteof the validity date specified on the Application Formfor Enrollment and ensure that their Form shouldreach the University on or before the validity date.

Guidelines governing corporate tie-ups

• Companies interested in offering this program to their

employees will have to enter into an MOU with the ICFAI

University, Mizoram. This MOU will specify the terms

and conditions in this regard. The University will provide

the MOU to the company.

• The batch size from the company should be a

minimum of 25 students per location.

• The company will identify one coordinator from

its side to deal with the University. The

University will also nominate one coordinator

for this purpose.

• The students who wish to enroll for this

program will submit their Application Forms and

fee through the company coordinator only. They

will be granted admission into the MBA Program

(industry oriented) subject to satisfying the enrollment

requirements of the University.

• The enrollment of the student will be valid

as long as he/she works for the company

through which he/she has enrolled. The

enrollment will stand cancelled in case the

student leaves the company for any reason.

• Transfer of the student by the company

to another location will not affect the

enrollment of the student as long as the

student is employed in the same company. However,

certain services such as contact classes, examinations etc.

may not be available at the other location.

• The students are required to deal

only through the company

coordinator for all matters

pertaining to their enrollment

in the program.

2. The students enrolled into the program

will have free online access to the Effective

Executive magazine for a period of

24 months, from the date of enrollment.

3. Contact classes will be held solely at the

discretion of the Federation of

Universities, subject to a minimum

number of students registering per

subject/ per location as per the MOU

between IUM and the company.

4. Currently an amount of Rs.5,000 is

payable towards membership in the

Council of Icfai University MBA

Graduates (CIMBAG) and it is

mandatory. The membership fee (as may

be prevalent at that time) is payable before

registering for Module IV examinations.

5. The company has to ensure that all fee

is paid as per the stipulated schedule. In

case of arrears of payment, the students

will not be permitted to register for the

examinations or their examination result

will not be released and their mark sheets,

pass certificates will not be issued; further

such students will be considered as

inactive on the rolls of the University and

their names are liable to be removed from

the records.

The ICFAI University, Mizoram, is established under sub-Section (2) of Section 4 of the ICFAI University, Mizoram Act 2006

(Act No.4 of 2006). The ICFAI University, Mizoram (hereinafter referred to as the first party) has entered into a MOU with the company for

offering the MBA (industry oriented) Program to their employees (The company and its employees hereinafter are referred to as the second

party).

The first party reserves the right to change the body of knowledge, prescribed books, the curriculum, examination pattern, evaluation

system, rules and regulations. The second party will be governed by the latest regulations applicable to them during the relevant academic

year. This document is designed to provide the company and the prospective students with information only. The first party assumes

no liability of any kind to any person for providing this information, whether or not such persons rely on it and even if they inform

the first party of their reliance on it.

This document may contain forward-looking statements like, but not limited to, general market, macro-economic, governmental and regulatory

trends, technological developments, legislative developments, court decisions, scope for further studies, career opportunities for graduates

from the first party. Such forward-looking statements contained herein are subject to certain risks and uncertainties that could cause

actual results to differ materially from those reflected in the forward-looking statements. The first party undertakes no duty to update any

Enrollment Agreement: The "Application Form for Enrollment" is the Enrollment Agreement (hereinafter referred to as the Agreement)

between the applicant who wishes to enroll in MBA Program (Industry oriented) on distance education mode, the ICFAI University, Mizoram

and the respective company.

Entire Agreement: This Agreement constitutes and expresses the entire agreement and understanding between the first party and the second

party in reference to all matters herein referred to, all previous discussions, promises, representations and understandings relative thereto,

if any, had between the parties hereto, being herein merged.

Interpretation: The masculine, feminine or neuter gender and the singular or plural number shall be deemed to include the other gender

or numbers where the context so indicates or requires. Unless otherwise expressly provided, references to days, months or years are to calendar

days, months or years. Person or persons include individuals, partnerships, corporations, government agencies or other entities. Section headings

are included for convenience only and are not to be used to construe or interpret this Agreement.

Conclusion of the Agreement: The Agreement is irrevocably concluded after the applicant signs the application form and submits it along

with the required amount, physically, electronically or otherwise.

No Third Party Beneficiaries: Enrollment of any student into the MBA Program (Industry oriented), shall not entitle any person (including,

without limitation, members) to any rights as third party beneficiary.

Balance of Dues: The second party has to ensure that all fee is paid as per the stipulated schedule. Wherever students have arrears of payment,

they will not be permitted to register for the examinations or their examination result will not be released and their mark sheets, pass certificates

will not be issued. Further such students will be considered as inactive on the rolls and their names are liable to be removed from the records.

No Obligation to Services, etc.: The first party has no obligation to render any services to the second party beyond the period of validity

of enrollment. To clarify further, no obligation of the first party shall survive beyond the period of validity of enrollment.

Limitation of Liability: The liability of the first party towards the second party is limited only to the extent of the fee paid by them. To

clarify further, the first party shall not be liable to the second party for punitive, exemplary, special, indirect, or consequential damages,

including without limitation, lost profits.

Assignment: The second party cannot assign this Agreement nor any part thereof the first party may, without necessity of the second party

consent, assign its rights and obligations under this Agreement to a successor organization.

Force Majeure: The first party shall not be liable for delay or failure in performance of any of its obligations under the Agreement when

such delay or failure arises from events or circumstances beyond the reasonable control of the first party (including without limitation, acts

of God, fire, flood, war, explosion, sabotage, terrorism, embargo, civil commotion, acts or omissions of any government entity, supplier

delays, decisions of the University, decisions of the courts and governments, communications or power failure, equipment or software malfunction,

or labor disputes).

Indemnity: The second party agrees to indemnify, defend and hold the first party harmless from and against any and all loss, damage, liability

and expense (including reasonable attorney’s fees and costs) arising out of any third party claim, action or proceeding based directly or indirectly

on the acts of omission or commission by the member or his/her agents, the breach or alleged breach or failure to comply with any applicable

laws or regulations, concerning the practice of profession of management.

Applicable Law: The Agreement shall be deemed to have been made in Aizawl in the State of Mizoram, India and shall be construed and

enforced in accordance with and the validity and performance hereof shall be governed by the laws of the State of Mizoram, India without

reference to principles of conflict of laws thereof. Judicial proceedings regarding any matter arising under the terms of the Agreement shall

be brought in the relevant courts of Aizawl, Mizoram.

Jurisdiction for all disputes (if any) relating to the University is only/exclusively Aizawl, Mizoram, India.
