Amity University Madhya Pradesh Celebrates 69th Independence Day Date: 8/15/2015 The 69 th Independence Day of the Country was celebrated with gaiety & fervour by Amity University Madhya Pradesh at its campus in Maharajapur. The programme began with the hoisting of the National Flag by the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor AUMP, Lt Gen V K Sharma AVSM (Retd). This was followed by the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor’s address to the large gathering of Amitians who had assembled as a mark of patriotism. Amity University Madhya Pradesh organized Tech Festival 'AAROH 2015'

Amity School of Engineering and Technology, Amity University Madhya Pradesh Gwalior

conducted its first Tech festival “AAROH 2015” on 12 and 13 February 2015 with a view to make

available a platform for the students to show case their talent along with the enthusiastic

participants assembled from assorted professional institutions of the city. The objectives of the Tech

Fest were manifold: to bring together the students from across diverse fields, to promote innovative

ideas and allow students to share their knowledge and ideas with other students and to facilitate

inter-disciplinary exchange of ideas and information.

The Tech Fest was inaugurated with the ribbon cutting ceremony by Hon'ble Vice Chancellor Lt.

Gen. V. K. Sharma, AVSM (Retd). The first day of the fest witnessed exciting events like Business

Management Plan, Logo Designing, Photography, Model Making, Collage Making,Treasure Hunt,

Case Study, Soap Carving, and Technical Quiz etc. The event were a judicious mix of knowledge,

skills & fun.

The events of day two also furthered the continuous zeal and competitive spirit among the students.

The events that set the Amity Campus alive with enthusiasm and fun were Technical Paper

Presentation, Paper Costume Design, Software Designing, Web Designing, Counter Strike (War

Zone), NFS, Soap Carving, Treasure Hunt, Rodies and Robotics etc.

Approximately one thousand students from different colleges like ITM University, Prestige

Management College, and schools like DPS, Army Public School and Pragati Vidya Peeth

participated in most of the events. At the end of the Tech Fest “AAROH”cash prizes of Rs. One

Lakh and appreciation certificates were distributed to the participants of the Tech Fest by the

Hon’ble Vice Chancellor and HoIs of AUMP. The Dean (Academics), Registrar, Director

(Administration), Heads of Schools, faculty members, staff members and students were present on

the occasion. The vote of thanks was proposed by the Dr. Sanjay Gomasta, Head MAE. The

programme was headed by Prof (Dr.) Bikram K. Bahinipati, Deputy Director and Head of Amity

School of Engineering and Technology, Amity University Madhya Pradesh. Dr. Pankaj Kumar

Mishra, Asst. Professor, Applied Physics, and Dr. Manisha Jain, Asst. Professor, Mathematics were

the Conveners of the programme. The event concluded with a mirthful DJ Evening that allowed the

coordinators and participants to relax and rejoice.

Amity University Madhya Pradesh Sponsors the

All India Ranking Tennis Tournament 2015

For the 2nd year in a row Amity University Madhya Pradesh was the title sponsor of All India Ranking Tennis Tournament, organized by Gwalior Chambal Tennis Association from April 5th to April 10th 2015 at the Tennis Complex, City Center, Gwalior.

The Tournament was inaugurated on 5th April at 6.00 PM. The Chief Guest of the event was Mr. Akhil Kumar, a boxer of international repute and an Arjun Awardee. The event was also attended by the Guest of Honour District Collector Mr. P. Narhari, Vice Chancellor AUMP Lt. Gen. V K Sharma, AVSM (Retd) and other dignitaries. Tennis players from all parts of the country enthusiastically participated in this tournament. After 5 days of healthy competition, the tournament came to an end on 10th April. The grand closing ceremony was attended by Mr. Aseem Chauhan, Chancellor, Amity University Rajasthan and Adl. President, RBEF as a guest of honour, Dr. Sunil Saran, Chancellor AUMP, Lt. Gen. V.K. Sharma, AVSM (Retd) Vice Chancellor, AUMP and other dignitaries. Mr. P. Narhari Collector, Gwalior was the Chief Guest on the occasion.

The ceremony included distribution of prizes to the winners and presenting of mementoes to the guests.

Amity University Madhya Pradesh celebrated its annual cultural festival ‘AMIBEATS 2015’ on

18th

March 2015, a traditional part of its Annual Film Festival Cineaste. The day saw an avalanche of

natural and inborn talents put together to form a marvelous evening showcasing the package of fun, frolic

and creativity.

The entire AMUP family, especially the students, actively participated in the events that left the crowd

enchanted and thrilled.The evening was graced by the presence of National award winning actor Rajkumar

Rao well known for his commendable work in movies like Kai Po Che, Queen, Shahid and Citylights. Rao

had started his career with the movie, “Love, Sex aur Dhoka” under the Balaji production house. He has

also been a part of the well acclaimed film Gangs of Wasseypur-2. However, it was films like Shahid and

Citylights that proved to be the turning points in his career, that attested to his worth in the industry as an

actor and gave him the credibility that he deserved. Further Shahid went on to win him the National Award

in the best actor category.

Ami Beats 2015 saw mesmerizing stage performances by the Amitians. The entire event was hosted with a

tint of humor which kept the audience high in spirits. A fashion show was organized with wedding as its

theme. The students put up a marvelous display of Indian and western wedding outfits. Adorned in their

magnificent attire, the students looked stunning as they gracefully and confidently walked the ramp.

The event also included singing and dance competitions that left the audience spell bound with the beats

and melody. The cultural genres included a soothing blend of Indian classical, Western and folk music and

dance. Harsh Vardhan of ALS was awarded the Best Singer of the evening award while Barkha Mathur of

ASAP won the Best Dancer award. The evening also saw a ramp walk by the members of faculty

coordinating the event.

The evening came to an end with some groovy DJ tracks which were enjoyed by the entire university.

Amity University Madhya Pradesh organizes Annual Debate 2015

Debate is one of the most powerful and unparalleled academic activities to offer creative room to the

students to voice their opinions on an issue, and also hone their public speaking skills. Amity University,

Madhya Pradesh organized the Annual Debate competition on 19 Feb 2015 for the students of first year

across all the departments of different streams. The event was hosted by the students of MBA second

semester. The topics of the debate this year were:

Ø Credit cards do more harm than good to the Consumers

Ø SEZ results in the Exploitation of the Poor

Ø Animal Dissection should be Banned in labs

Following the debate, the motion for each topic was put before the house for voting with the following

results:

A total of 18 students from across programmes were shortlisted to participate in the final competition and

Upadhyay, Ms. Tanika Mahendru, Ms. Aparajita Singh and Shahana Khan were the members of the

invitation committee; logistic support was taken care of by Mr Piyush Rajput, Tanya Gupta, Vikram Singh

Bhadauria and Mr.Gaurav Sharma; and certificate writing and prize distribution was handled by Ms.

Renaira Chandel and Ms. Shefali Gupta.

Amity University Madhya Pradesh organizes Annual Quiz 2015

Annual Quiz 2015 held at Amity University Madhya Pradesh

Amity University Madhya Pradesh organized the Annual Quiz Competition 2015 in the auditorium, Block-

B on March 30.

The quiz comprised three stages - two written rounds and the final oral round. The initial written round

was conducted by all the schools for their respective students. About 20 students qualified the initial

written round, after which the final written round was conducted. The final four teams comprising two

students each were selected on the basis of their performance in the final written round.

The Oral quiz comprised Eight rounds viz. Current Affairs, GK, Books and Authors, French, Picture,

Video and Audio round. The quiz had a rapid fire round also which made it more exciting for the students

and the audience both. At the end of every round there was an audience question which kept the interest

alive among the audience.

The Oral quiz was lively with exuberant Quiz Masters Sudeep, Dewanshi, Samarth and Anvesha supported

by video/audio/buzzer rounds with computerized marking system.

All the participating teams were awarded prizes and certificate of appreciation.

Amity University Madhya Pradesh Organizes A Three Day Entrepreneurship Awareness

Camp in Association with MPCON

Amity School of Engineering and Technology (ASET), an institute of Amity University

Madhya Pradesh (AUMP) Gwalior, organized an Entrepreneurship Awareness Camp. from

09th to 11th Feb 2015 in its premises. The Camp sponsored by Madhya Pradesh Consultancy

Corporation Limited (MPCON) with held the objective of developing entrepreneurship

skills in PG and UG students of various streams.

The program started with the lighting of the lamp. The event was inaugurated by the Vice

Chancellor of Amity University Madhya Pradesh , Gwalior, Lt. Gen. V. K. Sharma AVSM

(Retd.).The other dignitaries present on the occasion were Mr. Ashish Bhargava, Nodal

Officer of MPCON, Dr. Bikram Bahinipati, Dy. Director, Amity School of Engineering &

Technology, Gwalior and Program Coordinator and Head of Civil Engineering Department

Mr. Mohan Kantharia , ASET, Gwalior.

Lt. Gen. V. K. Sharma,in his inaugural speech, emphasized upon the need of development

of entrepreneurship skills in the young engineers in the present scenario of increasing

unemployment amongst engineers. He said that most of the engineering students see their

secured future in Government jobs but it is not just possible for any government to provide

jobs for all, and most of the students do not get Govt. jobs and in private sectors, the

employment situation for fresh engineers is not very encouraging.Private companies want

more work for less payment. In such a situation, he added that the better alternative before

the new generation is to be an employer by establishing own enterprise rather than to

becoming an employee. He further added that a determined, self employed person can

achieve great success even with a little investment. He also gave examples of several young

entrepreneurs who have been successful and have also created jobs for many other people.

Lt. Gen. V. K. Sharma advised the students to come forward to get proper guidance and

training from the institutes like MPCON, so that they can also become successful

entrepreneurs.

The Guest of Honour of the inaugural function, the Nodal Officer of MPCON Gwalior Mr.

Ashish Bhargava,in his address, explained in detail about the constructive cooperation

being extended by MPCON to the new entrepreneurs. He described that MPCON helps

new entrepreneurs at all stages right from project preparation to financing and setting up of

industry. It also provides a complete solution to various problems that are faced by young

entrepreneurs.

The first key note speaker of the function Prof.A. K. Saxena, in his speech, clarified the

exact meaning of entrepreneurship.He explained to the audience what qualities are required

in an entrepreneur to be successful. He gave many interesting examples to stress his point.

He analyzed how one can face odd situations by developing entrepreneurial skills within

himself.

The second day of the workshop had two sessions comprising interaction with new

entrepreneurs. The first session was addressed by the Chief Speaker Mr. Atul Guch. He

shared with the students some real and useful experiences of entrepreneurs and also gave

his valuable suggestions about how to establish a new industry.

The second session,after tea, was a lecture by witness a lecture by Mr. Sudeep Jain is an

entrepreneur who after doing his textile engineering, established his carpet industry. He

shared his experiences, hurdles, problems in establishing his industry.

The third day of the program started with address by Mr. Anoop Chobey, Managing

Director of MP Industry Corporation. He apprised students of many provisions of the

Department of Industry that are helpful in setting up of new industries. He explained

different schemes run by M.P. Govt. like Khadi Gramudyog. Then he explained the rebate

given in different scheme on different services and industry . Mr. Chobey also enumerated

many financial relaxations that are applicable and allowed to the young entrepreneurs. In

the second session, Dr. K. K. Dixit addressed the function and motivated all by sharing his

own experiences and examples .

The camp conclude with the certificate distribution by Dr. Bikram Bahinipati HOI ASET

and Guest Speaker Dr. K. K. Dixit to each participant. More than eighty students of Civil

Engineering and Mechanical Engineering participated along with some faculty members.

The programme was coordinated by Mr Mohan Kantharia (HOD CIVIL). The program

ended successfully with a vote of thanks by Dr. Bikram Bahinipati, Dy. Director,ASET.

NSS Unit of Amity University Madhya Pradesh Organizes Blood Donation Camp

National Service Scheme Unit of AUMP organized a Blood Donation Camp on 01.10.2015. The event was inaugurated by the

Pro Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof. (Dr.) M. P. Kaushik in the presence of Registrar, all HoIs, HoDs, Dr. Sumit Narula,

Chairman, NSS, Dr. Rachana Kathal, Program Officer & Coordinator, NSS, Dr. Sanjay Gomasta, Program Officer, NSS, and

faculty of AUMP. To mark the beginning of the event, 200 volunteers of NSS welcomed the guests with the National NSS song.

The team of 20 doctors and paramedics from J. A. Hospital Blood Bank, Gwalior was introduced to the Amity family.

The event was a mega success which culminated with 275 units of blood donated by the students, faculty & staff of AUMP. The

Blood Donation Camp was a reflection of the selfless service to the society which has always been the motivational factor for

the Amitians to donate heartily in the blood donation camp.

Amity University Madhya Pradesh hosts Brainstorming Session on Gwalior as a Smart City

Amity University Madhya Pradesh the chosen knowledge partner in the Mega Project ‘Gwalior as a Smart City’ hosted a brainstorming session to invite ideas from the young minds of the university to help shape Gwalior as a Smart City. The session was chaired by Hon’ble Mayor Gwalior, Mr. Vivek Narayan Shejwalkar. Mr. Shejwalkar was accompanied by the Commissioner, Municipal Corporation, Gwalior, Mr. Ajay Gupta & other team members.

The session began with a formal welcome extended by Lt Gen V. K. Sharma AVSM(Retd) the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor Amity University Madhya Pradesh to the esteemed dignitaries. Addressing the audience he said that it is a priviledge for Amity University Madhya Pradesh to become a part of this important mission. He also stressed that in order to bring about a change in the city, we need to first of all change our own mind set. The team from the Municipal Corporation made a brief presentation on the Smart City Project after the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor’s address. Mr. Ajay Gupta, Hon’ble Commissioner, Municipal Corporation, thereafter invited suggestions for the project from the young audience. In the lively, fruitful session, the students of Amity University vied with each other to put forth their brilliant ideas for making Gwalior a smart city. Issues like Smart Traffic System.

Smart Waste Management Systems problems of stray cattle, urban housing, energy conversion tourism facilities etc were discussed.

The visiting team distributed booklets to the students wherein they are expected to prioritize the facilities for making Gwalior a smart city.

The session ended with the presentation of mementoes to the guests by the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor Amity University. Mr. Vivek Shejwalkar Hon’ble Mayor, Gwalior, their proposed the vote of thanks.

CINEASTE 2015- A Tribute to Films and Cinema by ASCO AUMP

Amity School of Communication, Amity University, celebrated its Annual Film Festival “CINEASTE

2015” on 18th

March 2015.

The chief guest for the event was the National Award winning actor Rajkumar Rao of Kai Po Che, Queen,

Citylights and Shahid fame. A versatile actor, Rajkumar Rao shared his knowledge and experience related

to his life and work in an interactive session with the students. Calling himself a learner still, he told the

students how closely he could relate to them.

He shared the experience of his bollywood journey and got nostalgic recalling his first break in the

industry and his National Award winning performance in Shahid. He answered all the questions put

forward by the students very tactfully and even fulfilled the wish of one of his fans to have a dance with

him. His energy and charming presence filled everyone with enthusiasm.

The event was also graced by the presence of Media Expert Mrs. Rachna Johri. She has about two decades

of experience in areas of National Production and Development of Communication for Broadcast media

and Audio- visual teaching in music production and Radio Broadcast. Deeply rooted in executive, business

and management skills, Mrs. Johri has worked with Doordarshan Delhi, BIG FM, ISRO and has been a

visiting faculty at DAVV University, Indore.

The film festival invited movies and documentaries from all over the country and was successful in

receiving more than 50 entries, out of which a selected few were chosen to be screened during the event.

The event started with an audio- visual tribute to 100 years of Indian Cinema, prepared by the ASCO

students, followed by an innovative ‘ASCO Showreel’ showcasing the fantastic members of faculty of

Team ASCO - the organisers and conveners of this event.

‘Telegram’, a heartwarming movie from Indore based on invasion of modern technology on the primitive

telegram system, won the award for the Best Film. ‘Pristine Waters’ from Noida was selected in the Best

Script category. The movie focused on the importance and utility of river Yamuna in the lives of the

people and showed a contrasting phase of it getting adversely polluted due to human activities. The award

for the Best Direction was grabbed by the movie ‘Poverty Nemesis’, by ASCO, AUMP students that

depicted an emotional story of a son carrying forward the lineage of poverty inherited by him from his

father. Prizes worth Rs.50000 were awarded to the winners of Cineaste 2015.

Cinesta 15 was intended to encourage the art of film making by appreciating the efforts and vision of the

people associated with this field and also to inspire prospective film-makers among the students.

A national level photography competition ‘Click-O-Mania 2015’ was organized by Amity School of Communication (ASCO),

Amity University Madhya Pradesh on 5th

October 2015. The contest received hundreds of entries from all over the country on

the themes of ‘Revelation, Abstract, Nightlife, Struggle and Nation’s Integration. The contest mainly aimed at nurturing and

promoting the flair for photography among young talents.

The competition was chaired by the renowned Art Professor Mrs C.P. Rashmi, Mr. Ravi from Dainik Bhaskar and Dr Sumit

Narula, Director, ASCO. The event was preceded with a rhythmic band performance and on-spot Selfie competition. Mrs.

Rashmi appreciated the outstanding display of talents and emphasized on developing creativity in the youth. Mr. Ansul Jain,

spoke of the success of Click-0-Mania since its inception. The judgment was done on the basis of creativity, vision, technical

excellence and overall impact. Pulkit Sharma, student of Little Angels High School, Gwalior was declared the winner for the

competition, followed by Akash Shrivastava (ASCO, BJMC 3rd

Sem) and Ruchi Rathore (ASCO, BJMC 3rd

Amity University Madhya Pradesh organizes the Closing Ceremony of SANGATHAN 2015

The month long sports events under SANGATHAN 2015 Amity University Madhya Pradesh came to an end at gala ceremony held in the university premises on 20th Oct 2015.

The ceremony started with the arrival of Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, AUMP, Lt. Gen. V.K. Sharma AVSM (Retd.) and other dignitaries. The sportsmen and women who had participated with zeal and vigor in the myriad sporting activities then marched past ceremonially to mark the closing of Sangathan 2015 at AUMP. This was followed by the presentation of Sangathan 2015 Report, briefing the audience on the events, medals & points tally and other details. The audience was informed that 12 events including Cricket, Basketball, Volleyball, Kabaddi, Athletics, Football etc. were held. Both boys & girls of the University participated enthusiastically in these games.

The prize distribution ceremony was preceded by a friendly Tug of War for both Male & Female faculty members of AUMP, generating much laughter and cheer.

After the Prize Distribution, the Hon’ble VC addressed the students. In his address he said that “Whether you stood 1st, 2nd or 3rd in a competition, it doesn’t matter much. But what matters is that you participated and you should participate, always with true sportsmanship.” Motivating and congratulating the students, he further opined that “I would be very happy to see the students from AUMP to win the competitions at Amity Noida also, and bring home some medals.

The event ended with a vote of thanks by the Sports Officer Mr. Ravi Pal followed by high tea for the participating students and dignitaries .

The hundred and fortieth Birth Anniversary of Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel was celebrated at Amity University Madhya Pradesh by organizing an Essay Writing Competition in the campus. The topic for the competition was Role of Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel in Uniting India. A large number of students, both Undergraduate as well as Post Graduate, enthusiastically participated in the event. The entries for the Essay Writing Competition were double blind reviewed by the members of faculty of the University . The reviewers were impressed by the students’ insight and knowledge of the contribution of Sardar Patel in the formation of Indian Union. Amity University Madhya Pradesh Organizes Faculty Development Programme on Academic

Excellence in Universities

1. A Faculty Development Programme on “Academic Excellence in Universities” was conducted at

AU MP from 17th

June to 23rd

June 2015. A total of 89 faculty members attended the FDP. On the

first day Lt. Gen V.K Sharma AVSM (Retd.), VC AU MP during his opening remarks said that all

universities in general and AU MP in particular must strive to achieve academic excellence. He

spoke on the importance of creation, revision and implementation of curriculum, undertaking of

research and creation of new knowledge, and academic administration as the way forward to

achieve excellence. He also stressed on the very important aspects of innovations in teaching

pedagogy and improving the quality of faculty. The list of speakers for the programme was

exhaustive, with 10 eminent persons from academia and industry and 11 lectures, in all. A brief on

some of the prominent speakers is given in the succeeding paragraphs.

2. Prof. (Dr.) Naval Bajpai, ABVIIITM, Gwalior, spoke on Research Methodology and explained

the importance of research methodology as it is very important in conducting research. He

explained it with the help of Convenience Sampling, Sample Size and its representation, cost of

conducting research, Probability, Confidence interval, Normal curve and more. Prof. (Dr.) ADN

Bajpai, Vice Chancellor, Himachal Pradesh University, Shimla, delivered a lecture

on Academic Excellence in Universities. Dr. Bajpai stated that we lack originality in academic

excellence in higher education. Pedagogy and research methodology is all borrowed from

foreigners. He emphasized that our research should be based on societal needs, and aspirations of

regional development.

3. Prof. Dr. ND Mathur, University of Rajasthan, Jaipur, in his lecture on Fostering Creativity and

Innovation stated that for creativity in education, we need a few game-changers. Creativity and

lateral thinking is needed because change is inevitable and rate of obsolescence is fast. ASARA

MOMONA, was given as a mantra to start thinking creatively. A stands for Add, S stands for

Subtract, A stands for Alter, R for rearrange and next A for adaptation. MOMONA stands for

Magnify Opposites and Minify Other Uses and N stands for New ways of utilization and last A

stands for alternative ways of producing. He also made his talk very interesting by conducting a

number of exercises and making the session interactive. In his second session on Dynamics of

Teaching, Prof. Mathur emphasized that our teaching methodology should be dynamic in nature,

in that it must change with the type of students being taught. Present methodology which depends

heavily on use of Power Point Presentations, needs to give way to innovative teaching techniques.

4. Dr. Sandhya Gopakumaran, Regional Learning Specialist for a leading international financial

services organization and Master Trainer accredited by the British Council, delivered a talk

on Amalgamating Pedagogy and Andragogy, and focused on the apt usage of deductive and

inductive approaches to teaching and learning for adult learners. She highlighted the aspect of

taking industry feedback and also emphasized on use of practice based learning methodologies and

development of higher order thinking skills.

5. Prof. Dr. RK Singh, Head, Division of Toxicology, CSIR (Central Drug Research Institute),

Lucknow delivered a talk on Research Ethics. Dr. Singh gave examples of softwares which are

available to track plagiarism and stated that ethics, particularly integrity, involved the application

of fundamental principles of morality to a variety of academic areas, including scientific research.

He made his talk very interesting by citing live examples.

6. Prof. SL Kothari Pro VC and Director AIB, AUR, Jaipur, gave a talk on Bibliometrics and

Scientometrics and explained the concepts of Science Citation Indexes (SCI), Social Science

Citation Index (SSCI), and Arts and Humanities Citation Index (A&HCI). He also discussed h

factor and explained its relevance in research.

7. Prof. Aditya Trivedi, ABVIIITM, Gwalior, spoke on the topic Recent Research Trends in ICT

Field. Prof. Trivedi discussed Journals, online libraries, digital content and software programmes.

8. Lt. Gen. VK Sharma AVSM (Retd.), Vice Chancellor, AUMP delivered a talk on

Academic Administration and said that it was not possible to achieve academic excellence unless

we are conscious about our role as administrators in addition to being academicians. He discussed

the role of a faculty member as a programme coordinator / class coordinator / HoD / HoI He also

advised the faculty members about their role as mentors of students and also as role models for

character building and as leaders.

9. Dr. DS Rathore, Chair Professor, Wisdom for Happy Life and Advisor, Amity School of Foreign

Languages, Amity University, Noida and former Vice Chancellor CSK Himachal Pradesh

Agricultural University, Palampur, HP discussed Achieving Excellence in Higher Education in

our University System, and highlighted the significance of knowledge revolution.

10. Prof. Dr. DP Agrawal, Former chairman UPSC and former Dean IIT, Delhi spoke on the

topic Best Practices in Higher Education. Dr. DP Agrawal took a lot of cases as examples that

gave a lot better insight into best practices in higher education, and made the talk very relevant to

the topic.

Analysis of Feedback

Almost 95% of the faculty was of the opinion that the “Faculty Development Programme” was elucidating

and productive. 90% stated that topics were relevant and interesting and were adequately covered by the

speakers. All the sessions were informative but some of them were of the opinion that the sessions should

be more activity based. 98% of the faculty liked the sessions of Prof. A.D.N. Bajpai, Prof. N.D. Mathur

and Lt. Gen. V.K. Sharma.

19 Sept’2015 was a red letter day in the history of Amity University Madhya Pradesh. Not only was it the fifth Raising Day of the University but the event was made more memorable and indelible as The Hon’ble Founder President Sir, Dr Ashok K Chauhan himself graced the occasion with his august presence. The Hon’ble Founder President Sir was accompanied by Dr Amita Chauhan – Hon’ble Chairperson, RBEF and Amity International Schools, Dr Aseem Chauhan – Additional President RBEF, Chairperson Amity University Madhya Pradesh and Hon’ble Chancellor Amity University Rajasthan, Mrs Divya Chauhan – Chairperson, Amity Schools of Fine Art, Fashion Technology and Performing Arts, Mr Ajay Chauhan – Founder Trustee RBEF and a galaxy of stalwarts from Amity Universe, rightly described by the Hon’ble Founder President Sir as the ‘Jewels of Amity’.

The Hon’ble Founder President Sir arrived at the campus to the sounds of a military band and the buglers sounding

post. He was welcomed by Lt Gen VK Sharma, AVSM (Retd), Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Amity University Madhya

Pradesh and his team at the campus. Thereafter, Founder President Sir complimented the band and offered ‘ahuti’

in the havan which was ongoing. This was followed by an introduction to all Heads of Institutions and Departments

of Amity University Madhya Pradesh and a presentation of an overview of Amity University Madhya Pradesh by the

Hon’ble Vice Chancellor in the Conference Room. The Hon’ble Founder President and the Dignitaries then made

their way to the auditorium where they were welcomed with a thunderous and resounding applause by students and

members of faculty & staff for their beloved Founder President. The Hon’ble Chairperson and The Founder

President then lit the ceremonial lamp and the celebrations thus began.

Hon’ble Vice Chancellor Amity University Madhya Pradesh, Lt. Gen.V. K. Sharma AVSM (Retd) welcomed the

Hon’ble Founder President and dignitaries to the University and thanked them for having spared their valuable time

to grace the auspicious occasion with their presence. He next introduced and welcomed the beloved Founder

President and the Chairperson on their first visit to the University. He also introduced the galaxy of other dignitaries

including Dr Aseem Chauhan, Mrs Divya Chauhan, Mr Ajay Chauhan and Prof (Dr) Sunil Saran to the audience.

After the welcome, Hon’ble Chancellor AUMP, Prof (Dr.) Sunil Saran spoke of his long association with Amity Group

and the great cause that this group is working for. His emotionally charged address was followed by the address of

Chairperson, Amity University Madhya Pradesh and Additional President RBEF Dr Aseem Chauhan. Dr Aseem

Chauhan paid an emotional tribute to the vision and support of the beloved Founder President Sir and congratulated

the University on its progress. He also expressed his deep and abiding faith in the leadership of the Hon’ble Vice

Chancellor and his dedicated team. On this occasion the foundation stone of Amity International School, which will

soon begin operations in Gwalior, was unveiled by Hon’ble Chairperson Dr. Amita Chauhan. Dr Amita Chauhan

promised the audience that the Amity International School at Gwalior would be the world’s best school in times to

come.

Academic Excellence Awards 2014-15 were given to the meritorious students and toppers in various programmes of

the University for their excellent performance in academics. Also, 100% and 50% scholarship winners were given

the Dr Ashok K Chauhan Scholarship Award by the Hon’ble Founder President Sir himself on this occasion. The

students also had the opportunity to have a photograph taken with Hon’ble Founder President Sir and other

dignitaries. The anniversary issue- 2015, of monthly newsletter of the University “The Amitian” was also released

on this auspicious occasion.

Then came the moment that everyone at Amity University Madhya Pradesh had waited for so long – a chance to

hear the beloved Founder President, Dr. Ashok. K. Chauhan speak in person and share his infinite wisdom. The

saga began with the unveiling the Foundation Stone of Amity University Madhya Pradesh followed by his much

awaited motivational and inspirational address to the Amitians of AUMP. The revered Founder President familiarized

the students with the genesis of Amity as a concept and its growth thereafter. He also narrated the story of his own

struggles and success, which is surely a source of inspiration for everyone, not only at Amity but also in other walks

of life. The beloved Founder spoke of his vision, the potential he saw in Gwalior as a center for knowledge and

higher education and his plans for Amity University Madhya Pradesh. He also fondly narrated instances from Dr

Aseem Chauhan’s days as a student at the prestigious Wharton School and of his association with the Hon’ble

Chancellor. The Hon’ble Founder was also generous in his praise and compliments for the leadership of our worthy

Vice Chancellor, Lt Gen VK Sharma, AVSM (Retd) who has not only been an academician and leader par

excellence but has also led from the front in growing the University almost ten-fold in all respects in just four short

years from its inception in 2011. He concluded his address by sharing his success mantra ‘BHAAG’ with all

Amitians, where ‘B’ stood for for Behavior, ‘H’ for Hard work, ‘A’ for attitude, ‘A’ again for Ambition and ‘G’ for God.

Following the Hon’ble Founder’s address, a show reel showcasing the achievements of Amity University Madhya

Pradesh was run for the audience. After this, a spectacular cultural performance by the students of university was

put up which enthralled all the dignitaries and the audience and was much appreciated by all. The Hon’ble Founder

President also appreciated the participating students by inviting them to have a photograph taken with him and the

dignitaries. Thereafter, as a mark of respect to all the dignitaries, shawls and mementoes were presented to them by

the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor Lt. Gen V. K. Sharma, AVSM (Retd), The Pro Vice Chancellor Prof (Dr) MP Kaushik

and all Heads of Institutions and Departments. The vote of thanks was then proposed by the Pro Vice Chancellor

Prof (Dr.) M. P. Kaushik. It is noteworthy that the programme was streamed live from the Auditorium Block ‘B’ to

Seminar Hall Block ‘A’, Moot Court Block ‘B’ and Block C, so that all students of AUMP could be a part of the

proceedings.

The Raising Day Celebrations in the auditorium were followed by a press conference where the Hon’ble Founder

President Sir, in the presence of Dr Amita Chauhan, Dr Aseem Chauhan, Mrs Divya Chauhan, The Hon’ble

Chancellor, The Hon’ble Vice Chancellor and other dignitaries, had a lively and engaging discussion with

representatives from local media houses. The Hon’ble Founder spoke glowingly about the role of media in furthering

the cause of Amity Education Group and complimented each media representative on the good and noble work that

they were doing. He then enlightened the gathering about various initiatives that were underway at Amity University

Madhya Pradesh, notably the Research Center for Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear (CBRN)

mitigation, the Tribal Development Center and the nomination of AUMP as the knowledge partner for ‘Gwalior as a

Smart City’ project. That the interaction was fruitful was evident from the wide and appreciative media coverage of

the event in all local dailies the next day. The Press Conference was followed by lunch, after which, all dignitaries

visited the Exhibition on Innovations put up by the students of various institutions of AUMP. The Hon’ble Founder

President Sir was suitably impressed with student projects and directed Dr Shaleen Raizada to explore the

possibility of patenting some of the innovations.

The dignitaries then made their way to the project site for Amity International School, Gwalior for the historic Ground Breaking Ceremony for the Foundation of the School, which was performed by The Hon’ble Founder President Sir, Hon’ble Chairperson and all the other eminent guests in the campus. The ceremony was followed by implanting of the Time Capsule containing history of AUMP by the respected Founder and other dignitaries. The honored guests also planted several trees in the campus thus leaving an everlasting mark of their memorable visit. Towards the evening Parallel Track Brainstorming Sessions were also held for faculty on various topics like HR, Internationalization, R&D, Gen Administration, Placements and Academic Excellence. These were conducted by the eminent guests from Delhi who shared their insights with the AUMP faculty and staff. The visit concluded with all dignitaries departing for the heritage Fort of Gwalior to enjoy the Son et Lumiere (sound & light program) which had been organized for them by the University.

Amity Law School (ALS), Amity University Madhya Pradesh, Gwalior organized the first Mock Parliament in its Moot Court on 26th November 2015 the First Constitution Day earlier known as Law Day. In the inauguration of the Mock Parliament, the Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor Lt. Gen. V.K. Sharma, AVSM (Retd.) emphasized the role of the Constituent Assembly and asked the students of Amity Law School to follow the noble ideals of this grand document in letter & spirit. The Proceedings of the Mock Parliament commenced with the Presidential Address to the Parliament Session. The President explained to the august House the political changes the Nation had witnessed in the recent past with the installation of new Government at the Centre. The Hon’ble President had drawn attention of the Members of Parliament to the danger the whole world was facing now referring to the attacks by the terrorists in Paris by the ISIS. The President also referred to the economic situation and the healthy GDP. The President referred to the inflationary conditions

and drew the attention of the House to the import of pulses to meet the demand in the market. He also referred to the Government seriously pursuing transparency and welfare in Governance of the Nation. The students of Amity Law School actively participated in the Mock Parliament during the zero hour, question hour and the discussion of the bills. They discussed several relevant issues pertaining to inflation, Paris terrorist attacks, safety of women, Dadri lynching etc. The students of Amity Law School also debated the controversial Land Acquisition (Amendment) Bill and passed the said Bill in the amended form. This event showed the concern of Amity Law School towards the challendges before the Indian democracy.

Amity University Madhya Pradesh organized the inauguration of Inter-Amity Annual Sports Meet-SANGATHAN

2015 on September 3, 2015 at 1100 hrs to synchronize with the inauguration of Sangathan across Amity Campuses.

The event was graced by the presence of the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor of Amity University Madhya Pradesh, Lt

General V. K. Sharma, AVSM (Retd), Dr. M. P. Kaushik, Pro VC, Dr R S Tomar, Dean Academics, Registrar,

Director Administration, Dean and Deputy Dean Student Welfare, all the HODs, HOIs, faculty members, staff and

first year students of Amity University Madhya Pradesh.

The ceremony began with the ceremonial lighting of the Mashaal by the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor amidst loud

applause. The Mashaal was then handed over to the sports captain of AUMP to be taken around the campus. The

Hon’ble Vice Chancellor then declared the SANGATHAN 2015 open amidst showering of confetti, which made the

whole atmosphere festive and joyful. In his address Hon’ble VC stated that sports are essential for the holistic

development of students. In the two month long SANGATHAN 2015, students would be able to compete in

different sports and games including badminton, lawn tennis, basketball, volleyball, cricket, chess, tug -of-war etc to

clinch the much coveted trophies. He further motivated the students to use the state of the art sports infrastructure

made available in the campus by the University. Hon’ble VC expressed his desire to see the sports grounds

throbbing with activity every evening after classes. He specifically asked the girl students to take active part in

sports.

The inaugural ceremony came to an end with a promise to bring in more action, enthusiasm and display of sportsmanship in

the upcoming days.

Amity University Madhya Pradesh Celebrates MELANGE 2015, Welcomes Freshers

Amity University Madhya Pradesh organized its Introduction Party ‘Melange 2015’ to welcome the fresh batch of Amitians on 24th September 2015. One of the most awaited events of the year, ‘Melange 2015’ aimed at giving a resounding start to the new batch, along with facilitating the bonding between the juniors and the seniors.

The evening was full of festivities, pulsating with the enthusiasm of the students.The event started with a performance of Ami Band . The showcase of extraordinary talents by students in different genres like Ramp-walk, singing and dancing left the crowd enchanted. The crowd stood mesmerized over the rhythmic song tracks and melodious vocals by students of first year. A marvelous amalgamation of Indian and western form of dancing was staged that elevated the pace of the event. Based on the Indo- Western theme of styling, a Ramp-Walk was organized for the students who contested for the crown of Mr. and Ms. Fresher. Adorned in their magnificent attires, the students looked stunning as they gracefully and confidently walked the ramp. The time honoured tradition of selection of Mr. and Ms. Fresher was continued where Paras Sharma( BJMC 1st Sem) and Simran Daswani(BJMC 1st Sem) were crowned as Mr. Fresher and Ms. Fresher of 2015 respectively , after meeting the parameters of grace, style and intelligence. The winners were felicitated, along with the other performers of the evening. The Honorable Vice Chancellor of AUMP, Lt. Gen. V.K. Sharma AVSM (Retd) appreciated the efforts of the students for organizing such a splendid event . The night concluded with groovy DJ tunes where the entire gathering literally ‘Melanged’ into fun, frolic and celebration.

Amity University Madhya Pradesh Organises Mock Press Conference 2015

Amity School of Communication organised its annual Mock Press Conference on 7th September 2015.

The Mock Press Conference was held in two stages. In the first stage, out of over 50 UG and PG students who contested for the auditions, 10 were shortlisted for the second and main event.

The event aimed at having an insightful discussion over current issues related to Politics, Entertainment, Sports, Law and the Corporate World. While ‘Farmers’ Suicide’ became the topic of discussion in Politics, the Entertainment field had a debate over ‘Scope for Art Cinema v/s Commercial Cinema’. Sports genre discussed the ‘BCCI controversy’ while ‘Section 377 of IPC’ was highlighted under Law theme. Under the Corporate section, there was a discussion over the ‘Impact of lowering of Corporate Income Tax on Job Creation.’

Each student was required to speak over the selected topic for three minutes followed by a cross questioning round by the jury and people from the audience. The event turned very exciting with the intriguing questions of the audience and the

spontaneity of the contestants. The Hon’ble Vice Chancellor Lt. Gen. V.K. Sharma (AVSM Retd.) who joined the event later further enlightened the gathering on the topics of discussion. The Pro Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr) MP Kaushik also graced the occasion with his presence.

Anuja Naidu (BA. LLB 5th Semester) was declared the winner of the event, followed by Nargis Noorain (BA. LLB 3rd Semester) as the 1st Runner up and Utkarsha (BJMC 3rd Semester) as the 2nd Runner up. The jury panel was graced by Dr. Iti Roychowdhury, Deputy Director, Amity System of Communication Enhancement and Transformation and Dr. Eirene Leela Rout, Professor, Amity Institute of Behavioural and Allied Science. The marvellous effort of ‘Team ASCO’ put up an enthralling event for AUMP.

National Service Scheme Unit of AUMP organized the celebration of “National Harmony Day” on 20.8.2015. The

day was celebrated with the message of “No Violence Against Woman” to the society. All Amitians at AUMP

including Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Lt Gen V. K. Sharma (AVSM), Retd., Pro Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) M. P.

Kaushik, HOIs and faculty members of various schools along with office bearers of NSS Dr. Sumit Narula,

A two day Orientation Programme was organized by Amity University Madhya Pradesh for its new students of Academic Session 2015-16 on 10 and 11 Aug

2015

The programme began with the invocation of the gods and a hawan in which the Hon’ble.Vice Chancellor, Pro Vice Chancellor , HODs, HoIs, Faculty members

and the new students participated.

The Hawan was followed by the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor’s address to the new students Hon’ble Vice Chancellor Lt Gen Sharma spoke of the expectations and

opportunities before the students and how Amity was committed to providing them with a quality holistic education. He gave a comprehensive overview of the University to the students and familiarized them with all aspects of education at Amity. Gen Sharma’s address was followed by the address of the Pro Vice

Chancellor.

Prof Dr M P Kaushik. Dr Kaushik emphasized on discipline, grooming, etiquette and academic excellence. The Dean Academics Prof Dr R S Tomar introduced the 101 attributes of the Amitians while Brig Matta, CoE, spoke on the Amity System of Examinations. Dean Student Welfare

Dr Anil Vashisht and the Registrar AUMP spoke to the students about student engagement, amizone, scholarships etc. The Director Administration Col Sethi

familiarized the students with the amenities , rules , regulations and transport facilities etc and the Director Placements briefed them about the placements at Amity .

The second day of the Orientation was marked by the conduct of MBTI Test and an activity based language

assessment exercise. These were jointly conducted by ASCENT and AIBAS. The students also registered

themselves to their respective programmes on Amizone and interacted with the HoIs and faculty members on the

second day and geared themselves for the commencement of classes from 12 Aug 2015
