HAILEY FARR Hometown: Tunkhannock, PA Year: Freshman Sport: Softball Why LHU?: “I chose LHU because of its sport administration program and the opportunity to play collegiate softball. I love Lock Haven's location, and as soon as I stepped foot on campus, I fell in love with the school and the town itself.” Why Sport Admin?: “I have always known that I wanted to work in the sport industry since sports have always played an important role in my life, and my ultimate career goal is to be an athletic director at the high school or collegiate level. “ Difficulties of being a student-athlete?: “I wouldn't necessarily call it a difficulty, but the biggest difference between high school and collegiate athletics is time management and balancing academics and athletics. For me, it is also my first time being away from home and on my own, so with that also comes a whole new level of responsibility on top of being a collegiate athlete.” After graduation…: “While I am only a freshman, my plans after graduation are to pursue my masters and perhaps my doctorate, and go into game day operations before working my way into my dream job of being a high school or collegiate athletic director. “

HUNTER CONFAIR Hometown: Watsontown, PA Year: Junior Sport: Cross Country and Track & Field Why LHU?: “I chose LHU because of the home-like feeling it gave me. I looked at other schools for the same major, but didn’t fully feel accepted or at home. I always told myself when I finally make a decision, I want to feel at home, and I wasn’t feeling that at anywhere but here at the Haven. All the staff here at LHU want to see you succeed, and will do just about anything to help, and that was visible the first time I stepped onto this campus.” Why Sport Admin?: “I chose the Sports Administration Major because of my love for sports. I’ve always been an athlete, and have had the passion to make a difference and keep improving sports in any way I can. I’ve also wanted to see how sports are run, and how they are conducted from behind-the-scenes. Once I decided what major I wanted, I came here on a visit for the cross country team. A few of the guys were already in the major, and I was able to sit in on a class. My decision was already made for the Sports Administration major, but once I was able see to see what a classroom setting would be like, it sealed the deal completely. I could tell the professors in this major would do anything and everything to help us be as successful as possible.” Difficulties of being a student-athlete?: “A difficulty of being a student athlete would be time management. Balancing the team and school can be quite challenging if you don’t have a plan. Once you can figure that out, everything else is pretty easy. Another difficulty would be the stress we have on our shoulders. Every athlete deals with injury at least once in their life, and once you’re injured, you’re just on the sideline doing nothing. You start to feel like you’re not important and not making an impact. The hardest thing to do is stay positive when you’re trying to get school work done and come back from an injury; that’s when most student athletes start to struggle.” After graduation…: “My plan after graduation is to have a job lined up, so I don’t have to job hunt while trying to pay rent. I’d love to do social media or event planning for an organization. I’m not going to be picky when it comes to what organization I would work for. Whatever job or organization I end up working for, I will always give my all and continue to be the best worker I can be.”

WHAT TRACK ARE YOU CURRENTLY IN?

I am currently in the Sport Administration Track.

WHAT’S YOUR RELATED EXPERIENCE WITHIN SPORTS?

I grew up watching and playing sports, and I couldn’t see myself going through life without being involved in sport. In college, I was able to coach basketball at Central Mountain High School, and also work closely with people involved in putting on Allen Iverson’s High School All Star game. I got to work with some players who are currently in the NBA. In June of 2019, I was able to start my internship with Penn State Football. In the summer, I assisted their player development department, and in August, I began to intern for their Director of Football Administration. I worked with them throughout the season and the bowl game, and I am currently still helping them with their offseason and spring practice tasks.

WHY DID YOU CHOOSE LOCK HAVEN?

I chose LHU because of the intimate class setting. I knew I would be getting instruction directly from my professor and that I would be able to get any attention if needed. I also liked how the size of the university offered the chance to create valuable relationships with my professors.

WHY ARE YOU PURSUING A CAREER IN SPORTS?

I am pursuing a career in sports because I love being a part of a team. I enjoy working with others and developing lasting relationships with them. Individual achievements are great, but accomplishing something as a group is the best. Success is sweeter when you can share it with others.

My favorite thing about the online program is being able to read my classmates thoughts and opinions. I enjoy learning from them, and having good conversation with them. I have learned from many of them, and I enjoy

everyone sharing their experiences and thoughts.
