The South Brun-swii'k To'vnship Committee's Democratic majority appeared to have second thoughts Tuesday night aliout a proposed water extension to the Davidson Mills Road area.
Over minoritv olijections, the Democrats voted to authorize a survey designed to find out how- many re.side.iits would tie, in i f lines vyere laid past tlielr homes. Connecting to water lines, unlike sewers, is optional.
Apparently, ii the survey indicates those residents will not tie in, plans for the extension made last ye.ar will lie killed.
Committeeman Herbert Wright said the townsliip does not want to get into a. situation expt'rionced by the Municipal Utilities Authority, which installed lines along Route 1 ami then 'ould not obtain userK
The one minority member present, Richard lliiicki, voted against the survey, saying that it would raise questions as to the sincerity of the Township Committee.
Mayor Dan Horgan said the survey wa.s a device to alleviate confusion, since many jieople had not previously beeiV aware of such' matters as charges for tying in.
He also notf“d that due to ample rain ov'er the past lew months, the wells in that area, which haH- gone dry liy last year, were now fulki
The question ol whether the extension was predicated on tlie construction of the authority's controversial Project lA was raised later in the meeting from the audience by formercomniitteem.au .Vliraham Dotiin.
He felt the survt'v stiould indicate the additional cost Involved if Project LA 'lot's not .become •avaeilable as a .source for the extension's w iti'f, n'-.ikintr the eon-struction of wells iiece.s.sary.
Mr. AVright said increased costs would prevent additional extensions to other areas, but would have no effect whatever on the costs to individuals who would answer the survey.
The mayor, however, sug'gested Including the phrase "or as wells become availalde" in the language of the survey questionaire.
A question of whether it was possible to obtain water from Fast Brunswick for the extension was asked Ic. anotlier member bf the audience, Steph< 11 Slofko.
.Mr. Wriglit replied that the au- thoritv had look'd into the idea but liad lound it too f-nstly due to distances involved aii'l tlU' expense of purchasing the water from another luniiicipality.
In otlier business, ttie committee voted unanimously to retain Bov Seoul Troops 89, 90,

"It's Uke a reunion every year.""It's so much fun to meet so many
different people In the community.""We're really under control -
there's never been such a professional company,"
These are the comments that members of the PJ&B cast made at Saturday's rehearsal of "Finian's Rainbow," SaUy Warnock commented on the reunion aspect, M rs. Warnock holds a record, having been involved In every one of the sevea PJ&B productions. She's sewed costumes for several, had a featured role in, wonderful Town, was one of the palace ladies who "organized the children" for "The King and U"
Teacher Barbara Lecky ' is the one who's deUghted to meet so many different pecple, and this Is her first PJ&B e:^rience. (Both Barbara and SaUy are barefoot' denizens of the mythical state of Missitucky,
Another citizen of the state is Parker Hayden, a corpmuting-to- New York-lawyer. He is the one who assays the production's state of readiness, Parker has only missed one show (like Director MlKon Lyon) and he's been a theatre buff since his Harvard "Crimson" days when he reviewed the Boston openings of Broadway plays. He's, been a straphanger in "Wonderful Town," a bare-chested slave in "The King and T', among others, and has had some leading parts In Community Players.
The "new leads" this year. Incidentally, are new only to PJ&B.
Arthur Lithgow needs no In- tro<hiction to McCarter audiences, since he's been Executive Director of the repertory company for several years, ■ and has played a number of lead roles In their productions.
Steve Kimbrough has a couple of years and several leading roles behind him with the Princeton Opera Association. He has a strong, sure voice and makes an ideal foil for Betty Fussell, who has had two years of intensive slngii^ lessons since her last appearance.
Gli Martin whoplaysOg, the leprechaun. has never been In a musical before, but he's been musical director of the Daj-ton, Ohio, Community Theatre and has 13 years in summer stock to hiscre- dlr. He's currently studying composition and piano at Westminster Choir College - audiences will be glad to know that he'll be available for another PJ&B production!
-The company Is comfortably ahead of schedule this year, since McCarter's facilities have been available for rehearsal earlier than usual. With additional rehearsals scheduled nightly, "Finian's Rainbow" should glow with a fine lustre, at Thursday night's jopening performance.

To the editor, .Last -A-eek a. letter by Abraham
Dobin, recently retired Township ' comniitteeman was not entirely : correct in fact and also did not disclose certain facts which it should have contained.
First, the statement that Dis-, ; trlct 3 (in which the referendum ; was narrowly defeated) lies in the i heart Of Kendall Park is not ac- ■ curate. Of the approximately 7."O' ; voters in the district, about one i third live outside of the Park on : Route 1 or Sand Hills Road, j second every Republican County 1 committee leader was charged with j getting out as large a "NO" vote 1 as possible. They even had chal- i lengers appointed to supervise all (voting at the polls as if it were i a partisan election. Democratic ! committee leaders took the posi- : tion that it was a non-partisan choice that had to be made and
, therefore did not appoint challengers.
i Third it is my contention that campaigns such as the one that
; ,\lr. Dobin ran (he also headed • and authored the petition) tend todivlde the township at a time when unification, is most needed.
