Ecuadorian-Spanish cellist Francisco Vila has performed in the United States, Canada, South America, and Europe . He has collaborated with artists such as guitarists Stephen Robinson and Ana Vidovic, and pianists Sergey Schepkin and Mariangela Vacatello, among others . Vila’s curiosity for new music has also resulted in collaboration with composers such as Jakov Jakoulov, Grammy-Award winner composer Osvaldo Golijov, and Grammy-nominated composer/classical guitarist Apostolos Paraskevas . Vila has received instruction from cellists Aldo Parisot and Gary Hoffman at the Banff Centre and Mozarteum Sommerakademie festivals, respectively . He is a newly invited member of iPalpiti Artists International, a group led by Eduard Schmieder devoted to promoting the musical success of young, talented artists . Recent activities include a concert in Carnegie Hall as a member of the New York String Orchestra directed by Jaime Laredo; Zankel Hall at Carnegie Hall, Philadelphia’s Kimmel Center, and Disney Hall in Los Angeles with iPalpiti Artists International; Weill Hall at Carnegie Hall with Apostolos Paraskevas in a performance of modern works; and Dudley House at Harvard University and Boston’s Seully Hall in performances with pianist Sergey Schepkin . Vila was a Presidential Scholarship student at The Boston Conservatory while studying with Andrew Mark for three years . He now receives instruction from Sharon Robinson and Janos Starker at the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music while pursuing a Performer Diploma .
