EHEALTH CONSORTIUM ENEWSLETTER August 2017 From the Desk of President Thanks for the ongoing and unfailing support from you. Without your dedication support, eHealth Consortium will not come to the present success. The eHealth Records Sharing System (eHRSS) in Hong Kong is one of the most comprehensive and excellent territory wide eHealth platforms in the world because of the great job of all the stakeholders in the Healthcare/IT sectors. As at today, more than 1,300 private healthcare provider organizations and private hospitals have registered with eHRSS and over 510,000 members of the public have joined the system. The figures are very satisfactory; we will endeavor to promote the developments and progress of eHealth industry. We also urge the Government to allocate more resources to support the private sectors, especially the private doctors and clinics, to join the eHRSS, because their engagement can facilitate the completeness of the patient’s health records network, achieving more accurate and precise data input by the frontline medical personnel. It allows a better integration among different health- care providers, reducing duplicated procedures, and enabling more timely treatment and diagnosis. Patients’ privilege is another main issue of the development of eHRSS. We will continue to assist eHR office keeps communicating with the Patients’ groups, ensuring the patients privacy and the ease to use can both be balanced. For the advancement of the development and collaboration of eHealth in Hong Kong and Mainland China, I have leaded a delegation to attend The Chinese Health Information Technology Exchange Conference in Qingdao International Centre from 18 th - 19 th May 2017. It is also our honor that we have successfully invited Mrs. Fanny Law, Chairlady of Science Park and Mr. Kevin Cai, CIO of Hospital Authority to join our delegation. We have shared lots of valuable experiences with the Mainland eHealth stakeholders in the Conference. Participation by both the public and private medical sectors, as well as patients, is the key to the success for the eHRSS. eHealth Consortium will continue to play the role as the bridge between the general public, Healthcare/IT professionals and Government. With your continue support, I have confidence that we sure can have a better achievement in eHealth for Hong Kong. Thank you. Kenneth Chan President, eHealth Consortium
