RAVES (12th to 14th December, 2003) ‘RAVES’ an intercollegiate festival organized by Patkar-Varde College triggered all with its thrill. This year was the inuagural year for Raves. Our mascot RONNY – the cheetah sped his way through all the young hearts. Truly, with 25 colleges participating in more than 36 events held, the college campus brimmed with the youthful feeling. The first day, 12th of December started off with the inaugural ‘Puja’ held in the auditorium. The day went off with the eliminations and as the sun dimmed the evening sizzled and glittered by the presence of the most desired VJ in town, none other than VJ Purab. The star guests also included veteran singer Sudesh Bhosle who enthralled the crowd by a few songs. The sensational Ramp Regale surged with excitement amongst the youth. The theme for the fashion show was ETHNIC WEAR that depicted true Indian Culture. Amongst the judges for Fashion Show was Praneeta Satavdekar ‘Miss Mumbai-99’. Saturday, 13th December. The fine arts events adorned all morning while the most hilarious form of Labyrinth (Snakes-n-Ladders) captured the day. We also had the special Freaky teachers event where in teacherss from different colleges participated. It was fun to see teachers as real good entertainers with jokes, songs and masti. The evening grooved to the mind blowing remixes during the Viking Vengeance (War of DJs). The crowd rocked and roared as the ‘mixers’ sent out heat. Saturday nights were never like this. Sunday or rather Funday brought out all the creativity amongst the youth. The cultures united on stage with the (Samba Endero) Group Folk Dance. The evening shook the floor as ‘raga and reggae’ blended in the (Group Fusion Dance) Zangurias Zooming. The night was shimmering with the gals-n-guys battling it out for the title of Ms. And Mr. Raves’03 in the event named Beasts-n-Birds. Meanwhile the mystery of Dungeon Decoy (Treasure Hunt) was being unravled by all the colleges CLs and ACLs. The tiring search seemed to have no end. The gifts and galore glorified the festival. Prize distribution ceremony was a real excitement with Sandeep Walawalkar (Bharat Shree’03) giving away the prizes. Raves’03 truly encompassed the spirit of tribal zest. 3 days of thrilling experience and many months of anxiety spent before. The efforts of the students shone radiantly during the festivals and the faces were happy as never before. For Raves, our college won the BEST COLLEGE TROPHY (point wise) but being the hosts, we were glad to pass the trophy to the 2nd place holder that was Anandibai Damodar College.
