‘Converse--Have your say...’ is an annual technical festival organized by Information

Technology Department since 2007. From 2017 onward it is organized under the banner of

Kshitij. So it is our tradition and matter of prestige. Now in this pandemic, physical gathering is

not possible, so we have made its online version in order to continue our tradition.

This time the tagline of Converse 2020 was “where fun and technology meets ”. All

events were online and open for students from other institutions as well. Below mentioned are

9 events organized under Converse2020.

Traversing through different platforms of social media to

hunt for clues

Many of the above events have been scheduled in multiple rounds. To effectively manage such

events, initial rounds of events (PYIT 2.0, Quizomania) had conducted on Day-0 i.e. 14th Oct

2020. The detailed schedule of Converse 2020 is given in below table.

Valedictory session

The success of event is due to untiring efforts put by Prof. Mukesh Patel and Prof. Dhruti

Sharma in cooperation of faculty members and students of IT department. For each event there

was two faculty coordinators, two student coordinators and two volunteers. The detailed

team description for Converse 2020 is given in the further table.

The event got grand success with good turnout. A total of 1784 registration under various

events had been noted and 1273 actual participants had taken part in Converse 2020.

About Student Coordinators

Nikhil Jindal is final year IT student. He is an SSIP incubator at GISC

Surat and also received the grant for his project. He has participated

in various events, competitions, volunteering work, and projects.

During his second year of academic, he has participated in the

annual fest of SCET - Verve and won 2nd prize in the group dance

(theme) category. Also, he has secured top position in many events

and competitions that have been organized in SCET. Besides this he

has maintained a decent CPI of 9.26 in his academics too. He is also a core member of the

Developer Student Club (DSC) of SCER which is powered by Google.

Vineet Cheeda is final year IT student. He has secured first place in

his Semester 1, Semester 2, Semester 4, Semester 6 and remained in

first three positions in the other semesters. He is the recipient of

Dewang Mehta IT Award which is accredited by NASSCOM for the

year 2017-18. He was a part of college kho kho team where he

secured first place at district level.

Opening Ceremony

The opening ceremony was held on 15th October,2020 at 9:15am to 9:30 am. The entire

session was handled by student coordinator Vineet Chheda. All faculty members of IT

department and students from IT department as well as other branches had took part in the

ceremony. Vineet had given brief introduction about various events of Converse 2020. He had

also introduced the team of Converse 2020. He acknowledged the efforts of website and

graphics team and marketing team. He had thanked all the faculties for their support in

organizing the events. He invited Dr. Vivaksha Jariwala, Head of Information Technology

Department to open the event. Dr. Vivaksha Jariwala presented her best wishes to all

coordinators and participants and declared the event open.

About Events

IT QUIZ - Based on concepts related to I.T and Coding Do you find IT interesting? The languages, coding, sourcing, platforms, algorithms?? Well this is

a perfect event for you to showcase that knowledge

Rules and Guidelines:

IT quiz will be based on concepts related to I.T and Coding.

The event will have 2 rounds in which students selected from first round will appear for

the 2nd round. 2nd round will be tough compare to the 1st round.

Students will be asked to join the Google Meet link and the questions will be displayed on

it through screen share.

Students will be asked to download some application in their mobile phones in which

they will be able to answer the questions of the quiz.

Glimpse of the event IT-QUIZ

Logo Making - Show your creativeness by making logo of given theme

Design creates culture, Culture shapes values and Values determine the future. So let’s be the

part of shaping our future. Participants have to make a logo for any event or theme which will

be declared on the spot.

Rules and Guidelines:

Students will need to keep their video cameras on during the competition. And they can

be asked at any point of time to show their screens.

The topic for the competition will be declared on the spot during the competition.

Students can use any software to create the logo.

They will be provided a link on which they need to submit the logo. Preferable format for

the file will be .png.

They need to complete the whole task within 90 minutes, the logos submitted after 90

minutes irrespective of any issue will not be entertained.

Glimpse of the event Logo Making

CoDecode - Show error solving and coding skill for ‘C’ programming Showcase your coding skills in the event of CoDecode, where find simple syntax error and run

time error filled snippet would be provided for you to debug in order to get a desired output,

followed by real time problem solving.

1st round will be of 30 mins. There will be a series of questions(question bank) with

different outputs having some difference in it. Each student will be given any one of the

questions from the question bank. Students will be asked to upload their error free code with

correct output on the link provided. Students selected from this round will go to the 2nd round.

2nd round will be of 45-60 mins. Question for all the students will be same in this round.

Students will be asked to upload their error free code with correct output on the link provided.

Plagiarism check will be done. In case of any doubt and misconduct, student will be disqualified.

Rules and Guidelines:

The event will take place on Moodle and Google Meet.

Students will be monitored through webcams by event coordinators and can be asked at

any moment to show their screens.

This will be an individual event.

Glimpse of the event CoDecode

PYIT 2.0 – Practice Your Interview Technique (virtual placement)

Do you want to know how well can you do in a Placement drive. Information

Technology Department is holding a virtual Placement drive, named PYIT; get the

experience of it once to know how well you do. The rounds are

Aptitude round

Aptitude Round consists of online quiz of 30 Questions including Reasoning,

Quantitative, Verbal etc. and it is going to be held one after the other on Moodle, the login

ID and password would be mailed to all the PYIT participants after the registration ends.

The ones, who successfully clear the aptitude round would only be given entry in the

technical round.

Technical Round

Shortlisted Candidates after Aptitude round will join the technical round where

questions would be based on the basic technological knowledge in the Field of Information

technology.

Group Discussion(GD)

Topics of Group discussion will be provided as soon as shortlisted candidates are

announced. Links to Google meet would be shared to the shortlisted candidates via Mail or

registered whatsapp number, and all the shortlisted candidates must log in before 10

minutes of the starting time. All the participants are supposed to sit away from the screen,

in a well-lit room and their hands should be seen free of any material.

Final Interview

After the group discussion, 8 candidates would be shortlisted for the final interview.

They will have to mail their resumes on an email address provided on the day of their

group discussion at least two hours before the start of the event. The link for interview on

google meet would be shared via whatsapp, and the order of interview would be pre-

decided. Participants are supposed to be ready and join within 5 minutes of the link

sharing. The results would be announced shortly after the interview gets over.

Quizomania – Explore your general knowledge A perfect competition for daily news-readers, and GK enthusiasts!

Test your General Knowledge in the fields of Science, History, Current-Affairs, Politics,

Films and various other fields all in general. Join in and hit Register in this fun fuelled quiz

that comprises two rounds:

Round 1: Common (20 min 40 questions) (Science, History, Current Affairs)

Round 2: Category wise (20 min 30 questions) (Politics, Film/Music, Sports, Social Media)

Rules and Guidelines:

The details about logging in for quiz would be sent to the participants via mail.

Timing of the answers in quiz will be an important aspect if two or more

individuals score same.

Participants have to login at least 10 min prior to the start of the event.

Mark Weightage of each question will be same.

Glimpse of the event Quizomania

Logo Hunt - Time based logo identification Check your memory, for the logos you remember, win the game as you find the maximum logos

in minimum time.

Rules and Guidelines:

Logo Hunt will be a quiz comprising of 2 rounds. It will be based on the logos of different

companies.

Participants will be asked to download an Application in their mobile phones and they

will have to answer the questions of the quiz.

Participants will be asked to join the Google meet based on the link which will be

provided and they will have to keep their video cameras on during the quiz. It is

mandatory for the participants to sit in a well-lit area and solve things without taking

help from others

Participants can take help of any search engine. No other application and software is

allowed, if caught, participant will be disqualified. One can be asked to share their screens

at any time during the event.

Timing will be an important factor if two or more students will get equal score.

Vocab-Quiz – Test your vocabulary skill Got a Fantastic vocabulary? Or did you win the spell-bee in schools. Join in this fun-filled

event with your friends and compete among each other with your wins shown after every

question.

Rules and Guidelines:

Vocab-Quiz will be based on spellings as well as meaning of words.

The event will be a single round in which timing will vary according to the

toughness of the given questions.

Quiz will take place on an android application which is supposed to be downloaded

right before the start of the event

Students will be asked to join the Google Meet link and the questions will be

displayed on it through screen share.

Glimpse of the event

Idea Pitching – Demonstrate start-up proposal Start-ups and idea pitching is an on-going trend amongst our young entrepreneurs. This event

will provide them a simulation on how to “pitch your idea” in front of investors and

organizations.

Rules and Guidelines:

Maximum 3 participants per team. Students participating in this event will be asked

to fill the Google form which will consists of questions related to their idea and its

applications. Selected ideas will be pitched in front of the jury.

Form should be submitted 48 hours before the screening. So that jury can scrutinize

the idea and select it.

Selected teams have to make a Power point presentation about their idea. Template

of PPT will be sent to their mails.

On the day of screening, teams will be asked to join the Google Meet link. They have

to present their idea in front of jury. 15-20 minutes will be given per team for the

presentation. 5-6 teams will be selected for screening.

Glimpse of the event..

THE SOCIAL DILEMMA - Traversing through different platforms of social media to hunt for clues

Ever heard of an online-treasure hunt? Think of the time constraint and rush in the

adrenaline while trying to win the race of getting to the final clue.

Participants have to traverse through different platforms of social media to hunt for clues.

It includes solving computer related questions, puzzles and having the knowledge of basic

functions of various social platforms, for example, Instagram, Snapchat, twitter, Stack

overflow, and Google drive. A series of clues/links will be provided in the form of

posts, stories, photos, videos, solving erroneous codes, etc which will help them to find

their next question on a different media platform. It is to be played by an individual and

will require 40-45 minutes of time. Player reaching the final round of clues and solving

them will be declared winner.

Rules and Guidelines:

The number of round in this event would be 1.

The interaction with other players would not be entertained.

The starting platform of sourcing would be sent to you on your registered mail

Valedictory Session

The valedictory session was held on 16th October,2020 at 4:30pm to 5:00 pm. The entire

session was effectively handled by student coordinator Nikhil Jindal. He briefed about various

events, team details and number of registration received. He invited all student event

coordinators to announce the winners. He presented vote of thanks and thanked all faculty

coordinators, student coordinators, volunteers and participants for making the event a grand

success. He and Vineet Chheda invited Prof.Mukesh Patel, Dr. Dhruti Sharma and

Dr. Vivaksha Jariwala to present their views about the overall conductions of converse 2020.

Acknowledgment

We would like to extend our sincere gratitude Dr. Hiren Patel, Principal and Dr. Keyur Rana,

Dean-SAWC, Sarvajanik College of Engineering and Technology for permitting us to organize

the online version of annual technical festival Converse 2020 in this pandemic situation where

physical gathering is not possible. Such event was need of the time to refresh students’ mental

and psychological condition.

We would like to thank Dr. Vivaksha Jariwala, HOD-Information Technology for giving this

opportunity to us to organize this event and for her constant support, encouragement and

necessary guidance.

We express our sincere thanks Dr. Mita Parikh, Prof. Hiren Vavaiya, Prof. Tushar Gohil,

Prof. Ashish Kharwar, Prof. Apurva Mandalaywala, Prof. Bhumika Patel and Prof.

Dhanlakshmi Manickraj for their support and cooperation as well as for their zest and

enthusiasm in handling of all events. We also would like to thank our lab assistant Ms. Heena

Panchal and Ms. Khsubhu Naik and our lab attendants Mr. Minesh Kharose and Mr. Dipak

Lad for making all kinds of arrangement in lab for handling the events.

We would like to express our deepest appreciation to Student coordinators Nikhil Jindal and

Vineet Chheda giving their best in making the event a grand success. It is a team effort and we

want appreciate all the events coordinators and their team of volunteers for putting their effort

in making the event successful.

We acknowledged the Website and Graphics Design Team (Bhagyesh, Shreya, Akash,

Suvarna) and Marketing Team (Vineet, Nikhil, Bhagyesh, Shreya and Niharika) for their

fullest effort in making the event successful.

Last but not the least, we are thankful to all the participants for showing their interest and

active participation without them the event would not be possible.

At the end we want to thank the almighty GOD, for keeping us healthy, mentally strong and
