Introduction to Oracle:
Oracle Corporation is an American multinational computer technology corporation which is
headquartered in California, US. It was co-founded by Larry Ellison, Bob Miner and Ed Oates and
named Software development Laboratories (SDL). With annual revenues of more than $10.1
billion, the company builds tools for database development and systems for middle tier software,
ERP software, CRM software and SCM software, specializes in developing and marketing
computer hardware systems and enterprise software products. Oracle has been great in network
computers for long now. It is also the world's first software company to develop 100 % Internet-
enabled enterprise software across its entire product line.
Oracle is the second-largest software maker by revenue, after Microsoft (as of 2011). It is the only
company capable of implementing complete global e-business solutions that extend from front
office customer relationship management to back office operational applications to platform
infrastructure. (1) Its Internet-enabled solutions provide a less costly means to expand market
opportunities and help retain customers. Oracle is ranked among the 10 best companies for a six-
month return on equity. The Oracle Data base management system presently supports over 80
operating environments.

Information Technology solutions but also constantly applies good corporate governance

Oracle HCM (Human Capital Management)
Oracle HCM World is the annual conference organized by Oracle which brings together all the
stakeholders of the firm like firm’s customers, their partners and Industry HR experts. The
conference is organized to discuss very critical HR issues and topics like workforce planning,
recruitments, employee training and developments, leadership trainings, compensation and
benefits and more. This event provides valuable insights at the human resource, talent management
and business process intersections, thus providing pathway as to how to employ HR to transform
the organization.
HR Policies followed at Oracle:
Recruitment & Talent Acquisition:
An automated software built in-house is used to track the need of manpower at Oracle. This
software uses business intelligence tools to store recruitment data and the hiring process is mainly
carried out through universities, employee referrals, social media and lateral hiring.
The recruitment process at Oracle is known for its robustness and is standardized in the
following steps:
Applications from various reputed universities, employee referrals and even social media are
screened to get the best fit candidate
The candidates go through a challenging technical evaluation to select the candidates which
would be a cultural fit for Oracle.
The candidates are briefed about the compensation plans.
Induction Program: Mentors and guides are allotted to each employee as a part of a robust
induction program to help employees settle in the new environment. The Projects that are
allotted to the new employees are based on their background and ease of working with the
topic.
Payroll Processes:
Oracle offers a payroll that is very competitive to the industry standards. The payroll includes a
compensation package with robust flexible benefits. The robustness of the package is due to the
variation in the performance of the individual as well as that of his department and the company
as a whole.
The factors that contribute to an employee’s individual performance include the work done
towards an assigned project, knowledge enhancement and new initiatives undertaken. The

company keeping in perspective the short term and long term goals of the company.
The Payroll process is automated using the applications developed in house by Oracle itself. The

Training is conducted for new employees at the time of their induction when they join the

developments in the software industry, regular courses are provided both offline and online for
getting the employees acquainted with recent developments.
Domain specific training:
As per project requirements, employees are trained with domain and technology specific

alignment with their and company’s objectives. The goals are reviewed by the immediate
supervisors and are approved in consultation with the employees. A review meeting is conducted

Oracle Human Resource Management System (O-HRMS) is a combination of applications
supporting the various aspects of Human Resource functions at Oracle. The main functions

All the above applications are required to share data tables in the common Oracle database. This
is done to eradicate chances of data redundancy, reduce the chances of errors and built a consistent
record of every employee of the organization. Within this framework of HRMS, you are allowed
to define and customize the human resource model which will support the enterprise’s structure
and policies. This system helps you to manage the information available in various national
languages, supports multiple location/address styles, national identifiers for e.g. social security
number, legislation specific date formats, which can be validated as per the rules and regulations
of different countries.
Oracle Human Resources (HR) and Oracle Payroll
Oracle Human resource and Oracle payroll forms an integrated system in the HRMS and thus are
available under the same menu structure. It further shares same window and data table wherever
possible to avoid data redundancy, maintenance and storage.
Oracle HR helps in workforce management and other standard activities of HR which includes
workforce organization, development and continuous measurement. Payroll is the fundamental
HR function which requires great accuracy, timeliness and better financial controls. This system
assures that each employee is paid on time as per the given compensation rules of the firm.
Oracle Self-Service Human Resources (SSHR)
Oracle Self-Service Human Resources (SSHR) is a platform which enables employees to access
HR information and perform personnel actions. Only that information is accessible to the
employee which is as per his roles and needs in the firm. This system can also be used by the
employee to maintain his own information including roles, profiles, benefits and expenses. Oracle
SSHR is designed in such a way so that it can cater to the usage needs of casual and untrained
users.
Oracle Performance Management
Oracle Performance Management product is used by Oracle for implementing an effective and fair
performance management system. Various functions like setting an objective and performing the
appraisal process is done by employees and their appraisers using this system. It enables the firm
to create questions which can be used for the potential participants during their appraisal process.
Oracle iRecruitment
Oracle has a fully automated recruitment process which is accomplished using Oracle
iRecruitment. This module helps all the stakeholders of the recruitment including candidates, and
managers to manage different phases of the recruitment process i.e. from vacancy updating to
hiring of new employees. Oracle iRecruitment supports both internal and external users and can
be customized to reflect the firm’s image. It allows the firm to monitor the effectiveness of the
process and also provide detailed reports of the same.
Oracle Time & Labor (OTL)
Oracle reduces the cost and time associated with manual attendance record keeping with the help
of Oracle Time & Labor (OTL) which is a web-enabled time-recording module. This is done by
reducing the administration cost by enabling self-service time reporting by the employees. Thus
this module ensures correct and on time payments to all the employees. It also provides employees
with time-related information with respect to other oracle project and oracle payroll.
Oracle Learning Management
Oracle Learning Management is an enterprise level learning management system (LMS). This
system enables the firm to train its employees effectively and at a very much reduced cost. The
following are its features:

3. Provide perfect combination of online and classroom training.
4. Monitoring the online and classroom training.
5. Measurement of effectiveness of the initiatives taken under training.

Oracle Advanced Benefits (OAB)
This system manages the rewards and benefits program of the Oracle. Benefits are defined here in

program can also be measured.
Oracle HRMS Intelligence (HRMSi)
This product of Oracle holds together vast amount of HR data which is intelligently organized in
such a way that it can be regularly by the oracle management in decision making. It provides
structured and comprehensive access to the HR data in one application. This tool is also used in
performance management framework where one can define the targets and milestones and receive
alerts when changes are required in the workforce.
