Key points discussed :
As PFRDA becomes more user friendly its AUM increases exponentially at
higher than 30%
To become friendlier, it is slated to be available in multiple languages in the
days ahead. More user friendly measures are in pipeline
PFRDA is managing the globally lowest cost Pension Schemes ever. The
cost is so low, other Pension Schemes are afraid to use it as a benchmark.
Total pension assets under management with Pension Fund Regulatory and
Development Authority (PFRDA) touched INR 5.32 lakh crore in November,
2020 and we expect it to touch INR 6 lakh crore by year end,
The younger generation considers pension to be the last priority and hence
they usually start to think of retirement planning in their late 40s or early 50s
by when it is already late to create substantial corpus.
Particularly inflation in the health and medical services being almost 3x that of
economic inflation, can burn a hole in the pockets of retirees if enough corpus
is not created.
It is essential that individuals start planning for retirement earlier in their life to
avoid this excess burden.
With statutory benefit of PF and Gratuity one can achieve an income
replacement of 25% to 30% of last drawn salary and in addition of PF &
President’s Report Page 4 of 26
Gratuity, if one subscribes to Corporate NPS with 10% contribution one can
achieve a replacement of 33% to 40%.
To maintain current lifestyle, one needs to look at retired planning in a
structured manner and the focus needs to be retirement savings and not tax
savings.

President’s Report Page 8 of 26
About the event: Substance use is an international problem which affects more or less every
country in the world. Despite the increased awareness of injurious effects of
substance use, India is a one of the countries with high prevalence of tobacco
and alcohol use. Evidence suggests the magnitude of substance use is likely to
be higher among Northeast who residing in adverse geographical settings. It
states that the increased of substance use in developing nations where health
and economic system are weakest is of great concern to WHO. Keeping this in
background, the present paper is analyzed patterns and correlates of substance
use in Northeast states, India. Of the 8 north eastern states, Arunachal Pradesh,
Nagaland, Manipur & Mizoram share a common international border with
Myanmar, the world’s 2nd largest illicit opium producing country. Following the

Key points discussed:
During his address, Mr Nicholas Low introduced everyone to the Corporate
Green Leadership Alliance, an initiative by the British High Commission which
was launched to bring together policymakers, think tanks, research organizations
and industries to work together towards a low-carbon transition. He further added
that “big tent” approach – with the United Kingdom and India standing shoulder-
to-shoulder amidst the community of nations to address the great global issues of
our time – will deliver the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals; that
will overcome COVID-19 and prevent (or at the very least prepare us much better
for) future pandemics; that will ensure we avoid the horrors of catastrophic anti-
microbial resistance; that will preserve our beautiful and precious planet of blues
and greens that we did not inherit from our forebears but that which we borrow
from our children and our children’s children. He also announced that the UK
Government will use their G7 Presidency, and work with the Italian G20
Presidency, both to push for a green and inclusive recovery, and to encourage
more countries to come forward with much stronger Nationally Determined
Contributions ahead of the COP26 Summit in Glasgow in November. Mr. Low
concluded by highlighting the range and quality of the United Kingdom’s work
with India and said that climate, energy, trade & investment, education, research
& development, science & innovation will be at the core of UK-India relationship
in the coming decade and beyond.
On behalf of West Bengal Pollution Control Board (WBPCB), Dr. Rajesh
Kumar announced at the event that WBPCB has decided to provide an incentive
of Rs. 1 lakh for 15 years or older commercial vehicle that is scrapped and
replaced by a new one. He declared that this incentive would be provided to the
President’s Report Page 12 of 26
first 1000 vehicles. Dr. Kumar appealed to all the housing societies to earmark
20% of their total area for planting trees in order to increase the green cover and
also urged them to think about organic waste disposal in a proper way. He also
advocated setting up of solar panels in each housing society to find out if even
1% of electricity can be saved at their places. He further requested all
industrialists to keep one-third of their total land left for planting trees. He
reminded that West Bengal was the pioneer in introducing auto-rickshaws run on
LPG and said that the state is already operating electric buses to check vehicular
pollution.
Mr. Sudipta Mukherjee stated that the COVID-19 pandemic has taught the
industries how to work with limited resources and pointed that working with
reused and recycled materials should be the norm going forward. He also
stressed on the need to innovate with more focus on digitalization and find out
means of generating values from the waste in order to move towards a circular
economy from the linear model which have been followed so far.
Speaking on the topic of “Green should be the new growth paradigm”, Mr.
Karan Mangotra started his address by congratulating Indian Chamber of
Commerce for organizing the Environment Excellence Awards which provide
necessary recognition to the innovators and the pioneers in the area of
sustainable development. He stated that, as economies recover from the COVID-
19 induced impacts, it is increasingly essential to incorporate sustainability and
rightly pointed that development in accordance with the environment is both
possible, as well as, profitable. He said that green initiatives must be embedded
in the development process and developmental issues pertaining to power and
agriculture can be solved sustainably. He also added that slow climatic changes
are now more visible than ever and occurrences of extreme weather conditions
have also increased and warned that damage due to climate occurrences come
with social and economic costs and solicit urgent action. Improved occupational
health encompasses reduction, prevention and controlling of diseases that can
President’s Report Page 13 of 26
affect worker productivity, it also involves improvement in physical, mental and
emotional health thereby enhancing, concentration and focus leading to greater
output.
India - US bilateral relations have developed into a Comprehensive Global
Strategic Partnership, based on shared democratic values and increasing
convergence of interests on bilateral, regional, and global issues. The bilateral
cooperation between the two nations is broad-based and multi-sectoral, covering
trade and investment.
The U.S. has emerged as the second biggest source of foreign direct investment
(FDI) into India during 2019-20. This strong cooperation between the two
countries is evident as US is one of the top FDI contributors.
Considering the prosperity of Aviation, Pharmaceutical and IT industry, ICC had
organized the India US Trade Network on 15th January 2021 through an
online webinar, in alliance with the Embassy of India in US. The program
was supported by Loudoun County & US State Department. This program

About the event : Risk prevention in favor of safe and healthy workplaces in the past was seen as
a waste of time, money, and energy, mainly by employers, but today there has
been great progress in raising awareness and positive attitudes. The
implementation of occupational health and safety standards has played a major
role in healthy and safe workplaces. Many of the interested parties such as
companies, institutions, equipment manufacturers, individuals, and the local
community gather at organized events in order to build culture and raise
awareness for healthy and safe workplaces at all levels. Resources used for
occupational health & safety are no longer seen as costs, but rather as
investments that make a substantial contribution toward safer, healthier, and
more productive workplaces for the benefit of businesses, employees, and
governments. Indian Chamber of Commerce is organized a “Virtual
