Topics include: water quality, invasive species, land management, soil health, and pollinators. The majority of the work would be at schools, but could be at the public libraries, farmer's markets and various other localities in Putnam County. RE-volv’s Solar Ambassador Program Over the course of one academic year, Solar Ambassadors work in teams to identify a nonprofit or co-op near their campus that wants to go solar. Mickey Leland Energy Fellowship (MLEF) Program - NEW Deadline: January 12, 2020 Provides students with educational opportunities to gain real-world, hands-on research experience with the Department of Energy’s (DOE) Office of Fossil Energy. Eligible applicants must be at least a sophomore, a U.S. Citizen, and have a cumulative GPA of at least 2.8. Indiana Wildlife Federation (IWF) - NEW Summer internships available. Internships are unpaid, but IWF does offer a stipend of $1,000 for the summer and covers travel expenses when necessary. Positions for the summer will post in the spring. Urban Growers Collective Chicago, IL Cultivating nourishing environments which support health, economic development, healing, and creative through urban agriculture. EF Maddi Stern ‘19 interned with UGC during the summer of 2018. Heritage Research Group Indianapolis, IN EF Emmanuel Kwakye ‘19 interned with the Heritage Research Group during the summer of 2018. He traveled to asphalt plants in the western US, collected samples, analyzed in a lab the particulate matter to which workers are exposed, and recommended safer practices. With support from CCE staff and higher ed allies, interns and fellows educate about carbon pricing, and organize peers and leaders in higher education in supporting climate solutions in Congress. Those who apply by May 15 will start part time this June, and launch their campaign in the Fall. Central Indiana Regional Transportation Authority (CIRTA) A leader in regional transit solutions - connecting people are creating healthy communities through public transportation. Multiple Element Limitation in Northern Hardwood Ecosystems (MELNHE) REU Researchers in the MELNHE project are studying N and P acquisition and limitation through a series of nutrient manipulations in northern hardwood forests. Doris Duke Conservation Scholars Program - UC Santa Cruz Every March UC Santa Cruz selects 20 early-undergraduate Scholars from around the country to participate in a two-year conservation mentorship program centered on the summers between academic years. The program has chosen to focus its efforts on serving college freshmen, sophomores, and juniors with two years of college left at a stage when we can support their undergraduate careers and their choices as they graduate. Environmental Fellows Joevita Weah ‘20 accepted the Doris Duke Conservation Scholarship with UC Santa Cruz for the summers of 2018 and 2019. Doris Duke Conservation Scholar Program - University of Michigan Applicants must be a current first-year, sophomore, or junior. The Fulbright/National Geographic Digital Storytelling Fellowship is a new component of the Fulbright U.S. Student Program that provides opportunities for U.S. citizens to participate in an academic year of overseas travel and digital storytelling in up to three countries on a globally significant social or environmental topic. Public Lab Fellows Program - NEW Rolling Deadline Public Lab supports fellowships that emphasize peer production projects working on community environmental health issues, offering short-term, medium-term, and long-term assignments. Fellows advance the impact of community science on critical environmental health topics, such as particulate air pollution, lead pollution in soil and water, and pipeline monitoring. David and Jane Stone First-Year Leadership Program Jane and David Stone Civic Leadership Award This $500 award will be given to two graduating seniors for their outstanding commitment to community service and civic engagement over the course of their four years at DePauw. Bard College LIASE Scholarship The LIASE Scholarships (Luce Initiative for Asian Studies and the Environment) provide a tuition waiver for students attending graduate school of up to 100% in the first year, and at least 50% of tuition in the second year. LIASE Scholarship applicants must be citizens of one of China, Japan or South Korea, and must have a demonstrated interest in environmental policy in their region.
