Seminar on Additive Manufacturing Technology wasarranged by Department of Mechanical Engineering forpre-final and final year students on 3 Jan., 2017. Theseminar was delivered by experts from Adroit 3DTechnologies. The company is one of the marketleaders in domain of additive manufacturingtechnologies with customer base of 20,000+ across100 countries. Seminar included presentations,discussions and demonstrations.

Workshop on Sustainable Technologies for Noise and Air Pollution Challenges

Two days works shop on SustainableTechnologies for Noise and Air PollutionChallenges was arranged by Civil Engineeringdepartment on 20-21, Jan., 2017 . The workshopwas organized in association with GujaratPollution Control Board (GPCB) and IndianSociety for Technical Education (ISTE).The workshop was focused on issues related toair and noise pollution monitoring, assessment,impact predictions, health issues, etc. and theirsignificance in sustainable urban planning.Officials from GPCB, experts from reputedinstitutions and organizations like NIT andother reputed environment consultants gavetheir deliberations in the workshop.The workshop was attended by delegates fromindustries, faculties from several engineeringorganizations, research scholars and students.

Seminar on Entrepreneurship Development by NSIC - Rajkot

Seminar on Entrepreneurship Development by National Small Industries Corporation Ltd.(NSIC) was arranged for students on 2 Jan., 2017. Seminar intended to introduce to studentsabout the concept of entrepreneurship development and start-up initiatives. The seminar wasdelivered by experts from NSIC - Rajkot office. Various government initiatives and schemesavailable in this context were also informed. The seminar was attended by all interested finaland pre-final year students of the institute.

Expert Lecture on Catia Software and advances in CAD/CAM Technology

Expert lecture was conducted by Mr. Jayesh Mehta, Center head, CADD Center, Rajkot, Gujarat.The lecture was to introduce to students advance CAD tool called Catia and to discuss otherrecent technologies and market trends in CAD/CAM.

One day hands-on workshop on Introduction toRobotics was organized by Department ofElectronics & Communication on 21 Jan. 2017. Theworkshop was organized for second year degreeengineering students of various educationalinstitutes. The objective of the workshop was tointroduce Robotics as a multidisciplinaryengineering domain.The workshop was conducted by faculties andstudent members of Robotics Club at DIET.Workshop involved various hands-on activitiesrelated to robot design, assemble and program.

Series of Expert lectures on Various CAD Softwares

Department of Mechanical Engineering in association with ISTE Student’s Chapter organizedseries of expert lectures on various software tools that are used in drafting, modeling, analysisand manufacturing in mechanical industries. Lectures were delivered by experts from reputedcompanies like Jyoti CNC Automation Ltd., Secto Automotive Ltd., Prime Polypack Industries,Shree Academy, R_cad Solutions, etc. The event spanned across the dates between 10th Jan 2017to 12th Jan 2017.

Seminar on Introduction to GATE

A seminar on Introduction to GATE was held on 23 Jan, 2017 for pre-final year students at theinstitute. Seminar covered basic information about GATE, its examination pattern, importantdates and benefits in preparing for it. Seminar also addressed strategies for cracking GATEalong with subject wise analysis of GATE papers for all branches. The seminar was conductedby Dr. D. D. Vyas, Principal (Acad.) and expert form GATEFORUM, Rajkot. In the seminarschedule of GATE-2018 training program offered at the Institute was also declared.

Workshop on Introduction to Android, Iphone, PHP and IoT Programming

Department of Computer Engineeringorganized a workshop on Introduction toAndroid, Iphone, PHP and IoTProgramming for 4th Semester CE/ITstudents on 12 Jan., 2017.Main objective of the workshop was tointroduce programming languages andtools used for development. Suchworkshops helps students to select thearea of interest for their future work.

Poster presentation competition was organized byDepartment of Civil Engineering on 28 Jan, 2017.Participants were required to present poster discussingdetails on any basic concept of interest in CivilEngineering. The workshop was organized for secondyear degree engineering students of variouseducational institutes. The event received a goodresponse with large number of participation fromwithin and outside institute.

Industrial Visit to Water Treatment Plant

Student from Department of Civil Engineering of BE Sem. 6 visited water treatment plantlocated at Bedi and Raiya as a part of their academic activity.

Mock GATE Examination

Mock GATE online examination was arranged at the institute on 21 Jan, 2017 for students whoare going to appear in GATE-2017. Mock examination was thoroughly as per GATE pattern andwas held in association with GATEFORUM.



Extra-Curricular Activities

Like every year, this year was also not anexception in celebrating Kite festival on theoccasion of Makarshankranti. The festivalwas organized on 13 Jan., 2017. Studentsand faculties participated in the same withfull enthusiasm and enjoyed kites, chikki,jinjara, sheradi and music.

Republic Day Celebration

Institute celebrated 68th Republic day on 26 Jan., 2017. Students and faculties in large numbergathered at college campus to honor the day. The program on this occasion included flag hosting,motivational speeches by staff and students and series of other cultural programs wherestudents showed their talent and love towards mother nation. The atmosphere was charged andfilled with enthusiasm and patriotism.



Extension Activities

On the occasion of Makarshankranti studentsand staff of Department of MechanicalEngineering arranged Collection & DistributionProgram for needy people.The activity received a very good support.Students and staff in large number contributedvoluntary in this noble cause. Food items,clothes and other day-to-day life essentialswere distributed in the slum area at Gauridadvillage near the institute.Students and staff from the institute alsoparticipated in other such program ofdistributing clothes, shawls and blanketsorganized by one of the NGOs in Rajkot.

Shubham Sejpal (140543107032), student of BE Sem 8 ComputerEngineering, has developed various android apps and uploaded toGoogle Play Store. On basis of popularity and downloads of hisapps, he has received around Rs. 4 lakh from Google. Shubhamcredits his this success to faculties, friends and family andacknowledges the support and guidance of ASWDC (Apps, Software& Website Development Center) at the department.

Gold Medal at GTU

Abhi Makadia (136620309052) student of our Diploma Institutestudying in Department of Electrical Engineering was awardedgold medal by Gujarat Technological University for hisachievement as branch topper in Electrical Engineering. In hisdiploma studies he has scored CGPA of 9.95 and CPI of 9.87.
