(Creating a positive environment for teaching and learning)
What is Positive Environment?Positive here means beneficial i.e. beneficial environment for the pupil, institutions and in turns to society through teaching and learning. Implicitly it also indicates environment which foster congenial and beneficial environment for teaching and learning considering students perspective. It is the “practice that brings benefits to the service user by allowing them to understand that they are recognised as individuals and their needs and wants which are unique will be met by service staff.”
Constraints to create a positive environment
In a country like Bangladesh, it is not easy to create positive environment for learning. Because:
Most of the teachers, who are not professionally trained, like to follow the stereotyped system they had in their early life. So implementing new teaching style will create a conflict between the implementer and stereotyped teachers.
Baton, punishment, coercive method, focusing on memorization, following the teacher’s instructions, lectures, lectures and lectures are mode of teaching in here.
Constraints to create a positive environment Cutting a good figure in exam through
memorization process rather than understanding the concept more clearly is the basis of judgement for teachers in most instances. How the teachers are creating congenial environment for learners, in most instances, are overlooked.
Questioning in the class is considered in many instances foolishness. I remember, in class eight, I asked a question to my math teacher as I was not clear about the concept. He replied “You stupid, don’t you understand this” and never bother to explain the facts.

Reflection on action (after the event thinking)
