For over 30 years CALTRA is a reliable producer of special cements. Our expertise lies in innovative development and production of special binders f.i. crystalline and amorphous calcium aluminate and calcium sulpho aluminate cements. Today we offer engineers and formulators of construction products like concrete , grc-panels , screeds and dry mortars a wide range of products. These are often used in combination with local available cements or gypsum - or are ready formulated to be used as stand-alone binder where just fillers need to be added giving;

a high performance cost effective cement system. When used in combination with a suitable source of sulfate a composite cement is obtained with following characteristics;

• fast setting • rapid hardening • rapid drying • high early strength • shrinkage compensated • sulphate resistance • low permeability • reduced heat on hydration • low alkali

Applied in a wide range of cement-based applications where enhanced performance is required;

• tile adhesives and grouts • self leveling,overlay compounds • pumpable screeds • non-shrink grouts • repair mortars • fast setting cement • decorative plaster • patching mortars • pre-cast concrete • glass fiber re-enforced cement • rapid set cement and concrete • sprayed concrete • waterproofing and waterplug

is a calcium sulpho aluminate cement where ye’elimite (C4A3Š) and belite (C2S)are the main phases formed. When anhydrite is added it gives following hydration product;

C4A3Š + 2CŠ + 38H 3C3A.CŠH32

The reaction of ye’elimite and anhydrite forms primary ettringite and accounts for the initial high strength, rapid drying and positive expansion. Thin hexagonal shape plates 5~10μ in diameter fill the pores giving improved density of the matrix.

Alpha-belite (C2S) formed in BeliCem® is more reactive than β-belite formed in Portlandcement and forms the later and ultimate strength, making a sustainable and durable sulfate resistant cementious binder. BeliCem® can be mixed with Ordinary or Sulfate Resistant Portland cement.

• C4A3Š = ye’elimite - gives initial strength, rapid drying and strength development • CŠ = calcium sulphate • CH = calcium hydroxide added as Portlandcement or hydroxide • C2S = belite responsible for strength at later stage,releases less temperature on

hydration than Portlandcement , resulting in less risk of curling and crack formation.

The set of the mix can be controlled by incorporation of retarders like citric acid or tri-sodium citrate in combination with an accelerator such as sodium or lithium carbonate. The use of a plasticizing agent is highly recommended to improve the rheology. Tests have shown that addition of organic admixtures and fibers can be used in combination with BeliCem®

When the ye’elimite reacts with the anhydrite ettringite is formed - a fine crystal holding 32 water molecules - and expands in volume.

Because of this effect a lot of excess water is bound in the crystal giving rapid drying and accounts for the first initial strength. Sulfate is highly soluble allowing to work even at low temperature. The crystal is enrobed by the aluminate and silicate phases making it stable and durable in time and can be used outdoors.

Ettringite fills the pore structure increasing the density of the matrix reducing the permeability. Lack of C3S (alite) phase leads to a reduced heat on hydration - minimizing thermal stress.

csa cement is buff colored - it can easily be integrated in a Portland- anhydrite cement matrix-giving;

• rapid set and hardening • high early strength even at low temperatures • reduction of shrinkage • no loss of strength in time

This unique type of csa-cement combines all the features of BeliCem® CSA-cement whereby a white consistent color is guaranteed. It is produced using high purity raw materials , tight control on calcination and grinding.

It is mainly used for production of high quality decorative concrete - glass-fiber panels (GRC) - design floors - natural stone adhesives - tile grouts etc.

Because of the low alkalinity of the cement different kind of aggregates , natural as well as recycled can be used.

After fusion of high purity bauxite and limestone the clinker is rapidly cooled to prevent formation of crystalline phases.

The glass like amorphous clinker is ground to a high surface area.

Main phase is mayenite (C12A7) the most reactive phase in cement hydration.

C4A3Š gives rapid hardening drying and extreme high early strength and shrinkage compensation used in combination with Portlandcement.

the basis of the clinker is formed by calcining bauxite, limestone and gypsum. This expansive cement derives its expansion from hard burnt CaO and ettrinigte. The volume of the hydration products expands and compensates the shrinkage of Portlandcement.

It is used in combination with Portlandcement to;

• reduce the drying shrinkage • prevent cracking • give chemically pre-stressing in pre-cast concrete • improve the density of matrix
