2018-2021

On the following pages you will find information about our hotel, our commitments to the environment and our commitment to the local community, as well as to the island of Mallorca.

Given the current situation in regards to the COVID pandemic, we have chosen to analyse the data from the years 2018 onwards, since 2018 and 2019 were our last “normal” years. It should be noted that Be Live Adults Only Marivent was the only one of three establishments to open in 2020, for 6 months.

INDEX

At the Be Live Adults Only Marivent, Be Live Adults Only La Cala and Be Live Experience Costa Palma complexes, we have made a Sustainable commitment to our environment. We have taken preventive measures to allow us to grow in a way that is balanced and respectful to the local community of the Palma municipality. These actions include the environment, the culture and the economic development of the local community, with the objective of ensuring that our destination remains as intact as possible over the years so that future generations can continue to enjoy the area in the same way that we do.

Our efforts have enabled us to obtain certification in accordance with the UNE-EN ISO 14001:2015 standard year after year since November 2014 and we work continually to maintain it. This is an Environmental Management System in which we control: the generation of waste and its proper separation; energy consumption and measures to minimise environmental impact; preventive maintenance of all facilities, such as cold stores, atmospheric emissions, etc. This is in addition to training all employees in many actions such as avoiding incorrect handling of chemicals.

We have been awarded the Travelife stamp, which not only focuses on the environment, but goes further by introducing variables such as the contribution to the

economic development of the local community, Cala Major as a neighbourhood and Palma as a municipality; caring for the flora and the fauna of our island; caring for our employees and our customers; social action and respect for human rights. That is why we have created new policies, procedures and registers, so that we can guarantee that they will be implemented successfully.

In 2018, the hotels in Spain were certified in accordance with the UNE_EN ISO 9001:2015 standard. This certification is committed to continuous improvement through standardisation of procedures, working instructions and registers, and it is intended to offer quality service to all our clients.

In this booklet we will present descriptions of the sustainable actions that we have adopted at the Be Live Adults Only Marivent, Be Live Adults Only La Cala and Be Live Experience Costa Palma complexes.

INTRODUCTION

Be MAJORCA

Our destination and surroundingsCala Major is a neighbourhood enjoyed by both residents and tourists in Palma. Its name comes from the beach of the same name which is located to its south. It is an area with a lot of tourism, with around 50 hotels alongside numerous apartments.

Its natural sand beach is located at the centre of western Palma’s rocky coast. It is separated into two parts by a small breakwater which sun lovers use as a makeshift solarium. It is incredibly popular with bathers during the warmer months, while in low season it is frequented by residents.

It features the main beach services, such as a security service and an accessibility service for people with reduced mobility, as well as showers, lounger rental and sun umbrellas.

Palma de Mallorca has a privileged climate due to its location, with an average annual temperature of 18 °C. Thanks to its excellent air and sea connections, it is a close destination and can be reached within two hours of the main European capitals.

Palma de Mallorca is the capital of the island, and it features several points of interest, which are described below:

LA SEU - MALLORCA CATHEDRAL: The Cathedral is the most emblematic monument in Mallorca because it is the perfect summary of the last eight centuries of its history. The image of a large ship overlooking the sea dominates the bay of Palma. This spectacular icon of the city’s historic and spiritual heritage surprises at first sight and arouses the visitor’s curiosity.

ROYAL PALACE OF LA ALMUDAINA: The building consists of a rectangular turret which houses the King’s Palace and a wing that extends along the west façade which formed the Queen’s Palace. There is a large room called el Tinell, which is built on the southern wall facing the sea, and a Royal Chapel delimi-ting two courtyards: the Queen’s to the north, and the King’s to the south, also known as the Patio de Armas. This meeting between the King and Queen’s Palaces includes the Arab baths which have been carefully restored in recent years.

PARC DE LA MAR: It is one of the city’s main urban parks. It was built in the 1970s after the construction of a motorway and the seafront promenade left a large empty space between the new road and the coast. To preserve the memory of the ocean lapping against the wall, as was the case in the past, a large salt water lake was dug in the park onto the surface rec-laimed from the sea. This also reaches the wall and the beauti-ful reflection of the Cathedral can be seen on the surface.

CASTELL DE BELLVER (BELLVER CASTLE): Castell de Bellver is located 3 km from Palma city centre and at 112.6 m above sea level, overlooking the bay and much of the island of Ma-llorca. It was built to act as a defence, as a place where rulers could safely take refuge in the event of danger. Later, it beca-me the royal residence. After the War of Succession, the castle became the main political and military prison on the island. It currently houses the History Museum of the City of Palma.

LA LONJA: Located on the seafront and preceded by the palm trees along the Paseo de Sagrera promenade, the silhouette of the Lonja de Palma cannot be missed. It is the former head-quarters of the Merchants’ College, which was the trade asso-ciation of the merchants of Mallorca.

ARAB BATHS: The Arab baths in Palma are one of the few archaeological sites which remain from the period of Muslim domination in the Balearic Islands. Noteworthy is the central room surrounded by columns that used to be used for steam baths. This used to be part of a private residence. A caldarium and a tepidarium have been preserved.

PILAR AND JOAN MIRÓ FOUNDATION: This cultural institu-tion was founded on the workshops that the artist bequeathed to citizens. Here you can discover the art of Joan Miró and com-prehend his creative processes in the place where he lived and worked for almost 30 years.

JARDINES DEL PALACIO MARIVENT (MARIVENT PALACE GARDENS): Built between 1923 and 1925 under the orders of Juan de Saridakis, the Marivent Palace is a spectacular buil-ding with views of the Bay of Palma. It was donated to the go-vernment after the death of its owner. The estate would then become the summer residence of the Spanish monarchy ten years later.

In the gardens you can find more than 40 native plant species. There are also 12 bronze sculptures which were created be-tween 1969 and 1981 by Joan Miró. They were donated by the artist’s family in order to be placed in the gardens.

Places of interest

THE PIG SLAUGHTER: It is one of the most important tradi-tions in the island’s culture. Although the Mediterranean diet is known for its abundance of fruits and vegetables, pork plays a leading role in Majorcan cuisine.

DIMONIS AND CORREFOCS: On San Antonio’s eve, January 16 is the night when the demons come out to play and unleash their fire upon the city. The flamboyant and colourful dance features beasts jumping and dancing in the streets, accompa-nied by music, fireworks, bonfires and a lot of noise.

SIBIL·LA UNESCO WORLD HERITAGE: The Sibil·la is a sung poem of medieval origin that has been declared Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO. It is performed on Christmas Eve in all the churches on the island of Mallorca, but the version performed in the Palma Cathedral in the matins or midnight mass is particularly important.

FESTA DES VERMAR OR GRAPE HARVEST FESTIVAL: During the month of September, at the end of the grape harvest, Bi-nissalem becomes a big party for two weeks. The “Festa des Vermar” attracts people from all over the island and beyond for events such as wine tasting, grape crushing, grape throwing competitions, carnival processions and an open-air dinner in which a traditional dish, Fideus de Vermar, is served.

BATTLES BETWEEN MOORS AND CHRISTIANS: The towns of Pollença and Soller commemorate the invasion of Arab pirates that took place centuries ago, as well as the battle and the victory over these invaders. The celebration is held on 2 August in Pollença and on 13 May in Soller.

Local Traditions

Significant areas near our hotelSA DRAGONERA NATURAL PARK: The Natural Park is located in the west of the island of Mallorca, in the municipal district of Andratx, about 800 metres from the coast. It includes the island of sa Dragonera, two islets (es Pataleu and sa Mitjana) and a set of smaller islets (els Calafats). It is one of the areas of the Balearic Islands with the most interest in terms of con-servation due to its landscapes and ecology. The Park is jointly managed by the Council of Mallorca and the Government of the Balearic Islands.

SERRA DE TRAMUNTANA NATURAL LANDSCAPE: The Serra de Tramuntana is a 90 km-long mountain range in the north of the island. It is characterised by its diversity of landscapes: forests of oak trees, pine trees, reed grass and other species share the space with agricultural areas such as olive groves. Furthermore, there is a large number of endemic species of flora and fauna in the area.

Significant areas near our hotelES TRENC NATURAL AREA OF SPECIAL INTEREST: This pro-tected natural space is located in the south-east of the island of Mallorca and has a lot to offer ecologically, naturally and sce-nically. This is a beach-dune system where a significant num-ber of habitats coexist, including important Posidonia oceanica seagrass meadows, primary dunes at the front, established du-nes, an important humid zone (Salobrar de Campos), coastal

rafts, pine and juniper forests on some of the more established dunes and, in the northern and central parts, agricultural fields and livestock farms.

ON LAND:• Keep the area clean. • Take any waste you generate during your visit away with you. • Don’t step on the dunes. It is forbidden to drive, cycle or ride horses on the dunes. Respect

the dunes’ protective closures. • Respect private property and make good use of public property. Do not climb over the machi-

ne gun nests. • Dogs can cause problems to both wildlife and visitors. Dogs are not allowed to be off their

leads in the park, and their presence on the beach is prohibited during the bathing season. • It is in a fire risk area. Do not light fires.

ON SEA: • Place anchor on sand rather than seagrass. • Calculate the space required with sufficient margin to avoid disturbing the other boats. • Do not reverse with the engine to help the anchor hold in place. The wind will take care of it. • Use small anchors where possible as they cause less damage.

Recommendations to preserve the Environment • Use water sensibly: Take short showers. For a shower to

be considered sustainable, it must last no longer than 5 minutes. It will help us save both water and electricity.

• Shampoos and conditioners made with natural ingredients are less aggressive to water. In addition, choose a solid shampoo, which comes in tablet form, to avoid consuming the single use plastic container.

• Leave towels to dry, instead of throwing them on the ground to be replaced by new ones every day.

• Do not leave the balcony door open when the air conditioning is running in the room.

• Air your room at the beginning and the end of the day. In summer, we recommend closing the windows and curtains in the middle of the day.

• Turn off the television and lights when leaving the room and remove the key card.

• Use public transport or cycle instead of using a car.

• Buy local products, such as food, drinks, handicrafts and souvenirs.

• Respect local culture and dress codes, where necessary. For more information, feel free to ask us.

• Avoid purchasing products made with protected elements, such as volcanic rock or plants or animals in danger of extinction.

• Choose environmentally-friendly sunscreens to minimise the impact on marine systems.

• Refrain from feeding local animals or disturbing their natural habitat.

• Choose local providers when planning excursions, as this contributes to local economic development.

• Use the correct bins to correctly separate urban waste: yellow for plastic, black for organic and other waste, blue for paper and cardboard, and green for glass.

• Special waste, such as syringes, medication, batteries, etc. can be deposited at Reception.

BeSUSTAI-NABLE

The management of Be Live Hotels is aware of the commitment it has made to the Environment over the last few years by implementing the ISO 14001:2015 Environmental Protection Management System and, in the case of Be Live Adults Only Marivent, Be Live Adults Only La Cala and Be Live Experience Costa Palma, the chain intends to maintain the Travelife certification it holds.

That is why, starting in 2016, we committed to going above and beyond and covering everything that sustainability

encompasses in a unified way in Spanish and Portuguese hotel establishments. As such, we are committed to the participation of our employees, to cooperation with the local community and its economic development, to respecting human rights and social action with those who are less fortunate, to the satisfaction of our customers and, overall, to continuous improvement in all of these areas.

Descriptions of our sustainable actions

Our chain respects the environment in which its establishments are located, and as such does not sell tickets to parks or zoos that endanger the life of the animals or plants of the island. Furthermore, provided that they comply with safety and hygiene measures, the chain purchases regional products to promote the economic development of the local area, and we prioritise the recruitment of local employees. All the relevant information regarding Local Festivals and events in the area can be found at the Hotel Reception.

CITIZEN SAFETY. Once a year we meet with the local council, the town hall, the neighbourhood association and the local police to discuss issues relating to citizen safety, waste collection, beach cleaning, etc.

MAJORCAN “FLOR DE SAL”. In our buffets, we offer the “Flor de Sal de Mallorca”, which is produced, naturally, in Mallorca.

EXHIBITING MAJORICA. Majorica is a pearl factory which is located in Manacor. We contribute to its economic development, allowing their work to be exhibited free of charge in our reception at the Marivent hotel. If the customer wishes to purchase an item, they can do so at the hotel reception.

WE MAINTAIN AGREEMENTS WITH DIFFERENT EUROPEAN UNIVERSITIES, including the University of the Balearic Islands, to encourage internships for young people in our hotels.

BeFRIENDLY

The Be Live Hotels chain is committed to supporting solidarity projects altruistically and to collaborating with various associations. The Be Live Adults Only Cala Major complex collaborates with the following projects:

· Make-A-Wish

The Make-A-Wish® Spain Illusiones Foundation is a non-profit organisation accredited by the Fundación Lealtad (www.fundacionlealtad.org) which was founded In 1999. Its mission is to create excitement for children suffering from serious illnesses (whether hospitalised or linked to a qualified healthcare environment), working systematically to include Organisations and people into a wider social network around the beneficiary and their family to foster further resilience.

· Aportación económica

At a chain level, and especially within our three establishments, the Be Live Adults Only Marivent, Costa Palma and La Cala Boutique, we collaborate with this entity by raising funds,

automatically making a small charge to all customers. We can see the figures for 2014, when we started contributing in August, in table 1 below. Graphic showing Be Live Hotels’ contribution to Make a Wish that was collected by our hotel, between the three establishments: €1,577.80. The following year, in 2015, we managed to increase the amount to €2,699.26. Thanks to this amount and the donations made by our other hotels in Spain, the foundation was able to make the dreams of ten children with serious or terminal illnesses come true. In 2016, our hotel contributed €2,196.82, and we made the dreams of ten children a reality.

In 2017, our hotel contributed €1,826.30 which made it possible to fulfil the dreams of seven children, including Rodrigo, the son of one of our colleagues at the Be Live Collection Son Antem hotel. In 2018, €1,167.20 was raised, €384.20 in 2019, €53 in 2020 and €13 in 2021.

Below we can see the amounts the Be Live network has contributed to the foundation in recent years:

· ECOASPACE Confederation - Bottle caps

This is an association for cerebral palsy in the Balearic Islands, which collects bottle caps which companies and individuals bring to them, and delivers them to a recycling company that selflessly partners with this association.

· Donations to kennels

During the 2019 season, many people gathered in bars and restaurants to buy dog food and donate it to a different kennel every month. The collection amounted to €1,300 which was donated to the Majorcan Society for the Protection of Animals

and Plants, delivering animal food, cleaning products, and more. For this year, 2021, the collection is still in process. At the end of the season, the donation will be made.

These are the shared premises of the Be Live Hotels chain:

• We offer job security, motivating working conditions and are always in accordance with the applicable legal requi-rements.

• We are committed to promotion from within, and we en-sure equal opportunities among all workers through the Equality Plan which we have implemented in each hotel.

• The comfort of the dining room staff has been improved through the installation of two air conditioning units.

• In the bars and restaurants department, a gift is given to employees when they become parents.

• At the end of the season, the best server, assistant and dishwasher are chosen. They are honoured and recognised with a small plaque which they can take home.

• When an employee retires, they are honoured at the end of season dinner.

• We try to help our employees to combine their working hours and days off with family members, especially when they have children.

• Training is given to the Heads of Departments regarding Quality and Sustainability. They must then give the same training and lead their immediate staff by example.

• Prize draws are held, where stays at hotels in the chain can be won by employees, at the staff dinner at the end of the season.

• We commit to respect and comply with all labour laws in the places where we operate and request that our su-ppliers and subcontractors comply with our principles.

• Special offers are published for employees on the Intranet and on the staff dining room boards. These offers may in-clude stays at any hotel in the chain.

• All Globalia employees have an agreement with Bankin-ter to receive loans with advantageous conditions, as well as agreements with private health insurance companies, such as Sanitas and Adeslas.

• On the Globalia employee Intranet portal, there is a sec-tion for Social Action, which provides information and opportunities for employees to collaborate.

• The Globalia Group has special prices for flights via the Air Europa airline.

Caring for our employees

BeTEAM

The situation analysed within the Globalia group’s hotel division has yielded a satisfactory result, with few problems detected that require correction.

From the information extracted, the main lines of action have been identified according to the needs detected. The proposals which make up the Equality Plan are therefore aimed at ensuring the principle of equality of treatment and opportunities within the companies.

In particular, the primary conclusions reached in each of the areas analysed were the following:

1. Legal representation of workers:

The gender proportion within the Legal Representation of Workers in the hotel division does not correspond in proportion to the gender representation within the workforce, as there is a majority of male representatives. However, in the specific case of Be Live Adults Only Marivent, Costa Palma and La Cala, we do have a certain level of parity, with 3 women and 6 men holding these roles.

2. Characteristics of the workforce:

The Hotel Division has 47% of women in its workforce, and in our establishment, as of August 2021, the percentage of women is 61% with men making up 39%.

A large gender imbalance is observed in the functional areas of maintenance and cleaning. Within the cleaning roles, women dominate, whereas the majority of maintenance positions are occupied by men.

3. Access to/abandonment of employment:

The selection processes and data analysed do not show signs of discrimination.

Possible actions to consider include: the creation of a non-sexist protocol for the publication of job listings through various channels, as well as a manual to help those who are responsible for the selection processes to ensure that they are using non-sexist language.

Another aspect to be considered is the management of the call for internal positions, where the selection process is fully carried out through the use of tests and evaluations.

4. Professional classification:

If we analyse the data relating to the distribution of the workforce according to hierarchical level, we can observe that in the high hierarchical levels the genders are largely proportional, with 43.75 % of women in managerial or superior positions (admin manager, HR admin, 1 supervisor and 1 assistant supervisor, 2nd in reception, 2nd in the kitchen, 2nd in guest services) with 56.25% of these roles occupied by men (CEO, purchasing manager, bar and restaurant manager, reception manager, kitchen manager, guest services manager, 2nd in food and maintenance).

5. Remuneration policy:

The salary remuneration system is regulated by the Collective Agreement, with the exception of those positions with greater responsibility.

It is worth noting that these positions are largely equitable, and no significant differences are seen.

6. Organisation of working time and work-life balance:

In this regard, the measures implemented by the organisation involve offering reduced hours to the employees.

Combination of work with other areas of life

Prevention of sexual harassment and gender-based harassment

The company is very aware of the area of occupational health and the prevention of harassment.

We would like to highlight the existence of a clear commitment on the part of Management to avoid and resolve any possible harassing behaviour, and we have established an action protocol and implemented an action procedure to deal with this.

Another of the most valuable aspects in the area of occupational health is the prevention plan designed specifically for women: measures relating to maternity protection, and occupations which can be adapted to include the pregnancy..

Equality in our hotels

Quality is incredibly important for our business as it brings added value to our customers. That is why the Be Live Hotels chain strives to offer the best services that meet and even exceed their expectations.

We have established procedures that guarantee Quality and provide a standard to follow. This standard is measurable and helps us improve our performance, which is why at the end of 2018 we completed the implementation of the UNE_EN ISO 9001:2015 Management System standard.

We encourage respect for the environment by indicating precautions that must be taken to preserve our flora and fauna,

as well as historical elements, so that they can be enjoyed by future generations.

We inform our customers about local festivities in Mallorca, whether San Sebastián in Palma or San Antonio, which are celebrated with great fervour in different towns across the island. Each of our restaurants offer our customers themed dinners with dishes and foods from the Balearic Islands. In restaurants and bars, we offer tastings of typical Majorcan drinks, such as wines or spirits.

Caring for our customers

BeCUSTOMER SATISFAC- TION

Through the ISO 14001 Environmental Management System, we monitor the impact our activity may have on the environment. Every year we identify and assess our environmental impact and set targets and areas in which to improve, as well as carrying out preventive controls to avoid CO2 emissions, among other harmful elements for the environment.

We are continuing to work on the correct treatment of hazardous and special waste which is generated in the hotel, and we continue to work with authorised agents: SAICA Natur Baleares and Bio Mallorca. We register all types of waste generated to improve its separation.

LIGHTING - ENERGY SAVING: We currently use LED bulbs in all the common areas of the three hotels. In the case of the rooms, 4 watt LED lamps are used in the bathroom and hallway. In the last few years, halogen and low-energy lights have been replaced by LED bulbs.

This year, an energy efficiency audit will be carried out to detect weaker points and monitor them.

WATER: The flow of taps and showers in the rooms has been reviewed so that they do not exceed 5 litres per minute (hand basins) and 10 litres per minute (showers). In this way, the bathing quality does not decrease, but we are still able to reduce water waste by half, supporting the problem of water shortages on our island.

SEPARATION OF WASTE: Fourteen containers for packaging are available, so we can ensure that the separation is carried out correctly. Employees are trained to improve waste separation.

The aim is to reduce the consumption of single-use containers, which are not easy to recycle. In 2021, the following actions have been implemented to achieve our objective: Our jams and chocolate spreads are now served in dispensers instead of a single-serve format; Single-use plastic has been removed from the pool bar, where cardboard cups, wooden stirrers and cardboard straws are now used instead.

ENVIRONMENT: Meetings and training sessions have been held with staff to raise awareness of environment issues, and to remind our suppliers and subcontractors as well.

Of course, we haven’t forgotten our customers, with whom we communicate our commitments through the Be Live website, the tablets which are available at reception, the information panels detailing the policies posted at the Green Point, through this Be Green Book, etc. It is not only about the use of water or light or separating waste, but also respect for the local community and the environment.

BeRESULTS

Below we will set out the results of our measures for energy consumption, waste, social actions, contributions to the local community, caring for our employees, caring for our customers and caring for the environment.

• BE LIVE EXPERIENCE COSTA PALMAWhen analysing the graphs for the Be Live Experience COSTA hotel below, it is important to note that the occupation in 2018 was 47,796 and that in 2019 there were 44,961 stays, while in 2020 the hotel was closed due to the pandemic. In 2021, we expect occupancy to exceed 17,000 stays.

The first thing we need to take into account when analysing the consumption at the BLE Costa Palma hotel is that it was closed from October 2019 until July 2021. The comparison will be made for the years 2018, 2019 and 2021.

WATER MANAGEMENT

Controls for detection of breakages and repairs to the hotel’s pipes are carried out.

When analysing the results for water consumption, we can see that it increased slightly from 2018 to 2019, although the total ratio is very similar, which may indicate higher consumption ratios per customer in 2019 due to the decrease in occupancy.

During the months of 2021 when the hotel was open, we can see that the consumption ratio in the opening month is higher than in the same month of 2018 and 2019. We can assume that this is due to the low occupancy registered. If we look at the month of August, we can see that the consumption flattens out, although it remains slightly higher. We will have to wait until the end of the season to take stock of 2021.

Chart 1. Water ratio in m3 per stay from 2018 to 2021 at the BLOA Costa Palma

Costa Palma Water Consumption Ratio

ELECTRICAL ENERGY MANAGEMENT

The central freezer is located in the BLE Costa Palma hotel, which is important to note as its use increases the hotel’s consumption due to the expenditure used to store the food of the three hotels. Even when closed, the hotel will continue to consume energy.

Analysing the graph, we can see a slight increase in electricity consumption between 2018 and 2019 in the months before summer, which could be the result of the decrease in occupancy as, when reviewing the absolute data, we see

that consumption was lower during 2019. This indicates that customers who visited in 2019 used more electricity during their stay.

In 2021, we can see that the ratio is far higher than in previous years. Although less has actually been consumed, there were fewer stays.

We continue to work to improve our electricity consumption by changing old equipment for more modern and efficient alternatives.

NATURAL GAS MANAGEMENT

Natural gas is used to supply the hotel’s kitchen, from which the two services are provided: breakfast and dinner, as well as hot water. Daily reviews are carried out by the hotel’s technical service team in addition to regulatory reviews carried out by authorised providers.

Analysing gas consumption, we can see that the consumption in 2019 was slightly higher than in 2018, but the total

consumption calculation was very similar. During the summer months, consumption decreases, due to higher temperatures and less use of hot water by the guests.

In 2021, the trend seems to be continuing, although during July the ratio is higher than in other years, caused by the opening of the hotel and the lower number of stays registered

We continue to work to improve our electricity consumption by changing old equipment for more modern and efficient alternatives.

Chart 3. Gas ratio in kW/h per stay from 2016 to 2021 at the BLAO Costa

Costa Palma Gas Consumption Ratio

Measurement and monitoring of results

• BE LIVE ADULTS ONLY MARIVENTWhen analysing the graphs below, it is important to note that the occupation in 2019 was 87,935 stays and that in 2020 there were 37,270 stays as the hotel was closed for six months. In 2021, we expect occupancy to exceed 43,000 stays.

ELECTRICAL ENERGY MANAGEMENT

Through the external consultancy firm AIMP Soluciones, the power contracted has been modified to optimise the use of active energy. The evolution of electricity consumption from 2019 to 2021 has been quite constant through the period.

When analysing the data, we must note that the BLAO Marivent hotel was closed due to the pandemic and had low occupancy. This hotel is usually open twelve months a year, but during 2020 it closed in March and was able to reopen to the public from July until November. In 2021, we opened again at the end of March. These openings and closures have had repercussions on registered consumption, and the ratios increased due to the

energy consumption required for starting up alongside the low occupancy.

If we compare the summer months of the three years we have analysed, we can see that consumption is similar during the three years, except for July 2021 where the consumption of electrical energy skyrocketed due to the high temperatures recorded, which in turn leads to greater use of air conditioning and greater consumption by the cold stores.

Despite the peaks in consumption during certain months, the annual consumption ratio remains stable. This means that the total calculation of electricity consumption has not increased. This figure for 2021 is yet to be determined, but it is expected that the figure will not exceed the previous data and may even improve upon it, as we have already installed LED bulbs in most fittings which will help to reduce energy consumption.

WATER MANAGEMENT

Controls for detection of breakages and repairs to the hotel’s pipes are carried out.

As for water consumption, we see that the consumption rises significantly in the opening and closing months, as is the case

During the summer months, consumption is similar across the three years which we have compared. We can however note that there is an upward trend in August. This upward trend is believed to be due to the ageing of the swimming pool, as the

for electricity. We can assume that this is due to the water consumed for opening tasks (such as filling the swimming pool and cleaning) and closing tasks along with the few stays registered during those months.

ageing structure causes greater loss of water. Our main goal this year is to be able to repair it and avoid leaks.

GAS CONSUMPTION

The consumption of natural gas at Be Live Adults Only Marivent decreases in the summer months, as part of it is included in domestic warm water. In the opening and closing months, we can see that the three types of supplies that we analyse tend to have a very high ratio, but this is due to the low number of stays.

Gas consumption during the summer season is similar year after year, but the general calculation shows a downward trend. This is assumed to be due to the fact that consumption is zero in the months where the hotel is closed and therefore overall consumption is lower.

Measurement and monitoring of results

• BE LIVE ADULTS ONLY LA CALAWhen analysing the graphs below, it is important to note that the occupation in 2019 was 20,176 and that in 2020, as a result of the pandemic, the hotel was only open to the public for two months registering 3,638 stays. In 2021, we expect occupancy to exceed 13,000 stays.

ELECTRICAL ENERGY MANAGEMENT

Through the external consultancy firm AIMP Soluciones, the power contracted has been modified to optimise the use of active energy.

Analysing the electricity consumption over the last 4 years, we can be seen that the total consumption remains at a similar

level. As for consumption in 2020, peak consumption was recorded during the opening, which is understood to be due to the tasks required for opening and the few stays which were registered in that month, as we analyse the electricity consumption per stay. But the average total consumption for the hotel during the time it was open shows a normal ratio, which indicates that no more energy was consumed than in other years.

In 2021, we hope to keep up with the consumption of previous years or even lower it, as we have installed LED bulbs.

WATER MANAGEMENT

Controls for detection of breakages and repairs to the hotel’s pipes are carried out.

Thanks to the implementation of measures such as aerators on taps, we have managed to slightly reduce consumption.

We can see that the water consumption rises significantly in the opening and closing months, as is the case for electricity. We can assume that this is due to the water consumed for opening tasks (such as filling the swimming pool and cleaning) and closing tasks along with the few stays registered during those months.

There is a downtrend trend in water consumption. This is a good indicator, as it shows that the measures taken are efficient. Our main goal is to prevent leaks and maintain consumption, or even reduce it, without seeing a negative impact in the quality of the service we provide to our customers.

NATURAL GAS RATIO

The overall consumption at Be Live Adults Only La Cala Boutique decreases in the summer months, as part of it is included in domestic warm water. In the opening and closing months, we can see that the three types of supplies that we analyse tend to have a very high ratio, but this is due to the preparation of the hotel for opening and the low number of stays.

Gas consumption during the summer season is similar year after year, but the general calculation shows a downward trend. This is assumed to be due to the fact that consumption is zero in the months where the hotel is closed and therefore consumption is lower.

MANAGEMENT AND SEPARATION OF SOLID URBAN WASTE

Within our establishments, we have four bins for plastic and eight for paper and cardboard, so separating this waste is much easier and more efficient. Every year we carry out employee training sessions to ensure that waste is separated correctly, which strengthens their knowledge in this area.

ELECTRICAL ENERGY AND WATER MANAGEMENT

NATURAL GAS MANAGEMENT

Flow reducers have been installed in taps and showers in all bathrooms, and so the consumption of domestic hot water has been reduced. As a direct result, the consumption of natural gas has also been reduced. From our point of view, there are no further options to reduce the consumption of this supply any further.

RESULTS OF THE SOCIAL ACTIONS WHICH HAVE CARRIED OUT

The result of our support for the Make a Wish Foundation over the years has been the possibility for ten children with serious illnesses to travel to their dream destination, so that each and every child can have a dream fulfilled. Some travelled to Disneyland Paris, while others chose to visit the Calderón football stadium or Camp Nou to meet their favourite players.

Holding employee dinners benefits us by increasing stability and teamwork amongst our work centres, promoting closer relationships amongst the different levels in the company and encouraging cooperation between employees and the company.

We also see the results of our cooperation with the local community (clothing delivery, towels, etc.), financial contributions, employee care (psychosocial assessments and follow-up, results).

BeTARGET

During this first period of involvement in social actions and sustainability procedures, we can highlight the following objectives:

• We have generated a QR code for each hotel, which redirects the customer or employee to our website where they will find information which communicates the Sustainability and Quality actions that we are carrying out. There, they will also find the publication of this Sustainability Report. We will include it in the welcome pack that is offered to customers.

• The rest of the single-use plastics left in the hotel will be progressively removed, such as 1.5 litre bottles of water which are placed as a courtesy in the rooms at the Be Live Adults Only La Cala.

• We will introduce new steps for environmental awareness in the new triptych which will be placed in all the rooms of the Be Live Hotels chain (see below).

• Continue to replace bulbs with LEDs. This initiative has been in the process of implementation in our hotels for a long time, as it represents a large economic investment. However, we are aware of the economic savings that it will bring as well as respecting the environment.

• Motion sensors and timers will be installed in common areas to avoid unnecessary energy consumption.

• Water, electricity and gas meters will be installed in different departments in order to better monitor consumption, to be able to apply containment measures and to prevent or detect possible leaks as soon as possible.

• Continue to collaborate with associations which are close to the hotel.

• Investments will be made to update old and inefficient equipment with more modern options with lower energy consumption.

• Alternatives will be studied to reduce the consumption of single-use plastic, working in collaboration with our suppliers, while seeking a balance between environmental issues, hygiene and the quality of the service provided.

• The possibility of changing the swimming pool to saline electrolysis will be studied.
