The College –

Babasaheb Naik College of Engineering, Pusad was established in 1983 by the efforts of Janata Shikshan Prasarak Mandal’s Founder Secretary, Late Shri Sudhakarraoji Naik (Ex-Chief Minister, Maharashtra) This institute is already NBA accreditated (for 3 Years w.e.f. 15/03/2012) and ISO-9001:2008 certified and is assiduously pursuing the goal of improving the quality of technical education. In recognition to its efforts, it received BEST MAHARASHTRA STATE ISTE STAFF CHAPTER AWARD twice, project guided by faculty members received BEST MAHARASHTRA STATE ENGINEERING DESIGN AWARD twice in ISTE project competition, etc.. The college has received total grants of Rs. 22.5 lacs from AICTE under TAPTEC / MODROBS scheme. The institute has experienced faculty and excellent infrastructure.

Department of Electronics

The department has well equipped 13 Laboratories housing equipment worth Rs 1.36 crores. The department has state-of-art facilities like Altera & Xilinx VLSI CPLD/FPGA kits, Texas Instruments DSP kits, Beagle board, ARM, AVR, MSP 430, 89C51 micro-controller kits, Fibre optical communication kits, Antenna laboratory, Microwave Test benches, Microstrip system trainer, Commercial quality PCB manufacturing facility, computers with one server are provided with exhaustive software support in form of LabVIEW Software, MATLAB & its toolboxes, VHDL Synthesis and Simulation software, OrCAD P-SPICE & Layout software , MCS-51 C cross-compilers. Two Final year projects won 1st Prize in Maharashtra State Engineering Design Award (ISTE project competition). The department received total grants of 11.5 lacs under MODROBS from AICTE. Prof. N. N. Charaniya secured First Prize in the Post P.G. Category in the State Level (Inter University) Science and Engineering Exhibition “AWISHKAR-2008”. The students of this department have developed many praise-worthy projects incorporating latest techniques in field of speech processing, image processing, DSP, mobile based control systems, embedded systems etc. Many students have received merit positions in Amravati University and awards in national level technical paper contests held in various engineering colleges in India. Department of Civil Engineering

The department has well equipped 12 laboratories. The department has loading frame of 100 tone capacity purchased under AICTE MODROBS Scheme. The department has done research under the Fast Track Scheme SERC, DST in the concrete technology laboratory. All the laboratories are recognized by Sant Gadge Baba Amravati University, Amravati for research work for Ph.D. Environmental Engineering Laboratory is recognized by Maharashtra Pollution Control Board and Govt. of Maharashtra under Jalswarajya Project. The department has offered consultancy worth Rs. 8,39,878.00 through various laboratories. Department has conducted many Workshops, Expert lectures, Technical Quiz, Competition, Model Competition, etc. Department has taken lead twice to conduct syllabus restructuring workshop in Civil Engineering for Amravati university.Three faculty members have attended International conference at Singapore and United States. Faculty have research publications in proceedings of many International and National Conferences. Students of the department have brought laurels at many occasions by winning First Prize in technical paper contest, Model competition held at National level and state level. Department has well set computer laboratory with software like AutoCAD, Etabs, STAADPro with independent plotter. Training programmes on STAAD-Pro and ETabs are conducted every year for the students by the expertise. Department has three staff members with Ph.D. qualifications.

Department of Mechanical Engineering Department runs under graduate course B.E. (180 seats) & post graduate course in

CAD/CAM (18 seats). The department has fifteen well equipped laboratories with modern facilities like FMS system with robots, pollution testing equipments. University approved IC Engine Research Center with state of art facilities conducts core research in IC engines. It consist of set of test rigs includes: Computerized 2-Stroke scavenging test rig, 4-Stroke supercharging and turbo-charging IC Engine test rigs.

The department has established solar park in collaboration with MEDA which consist of hybrid solar system, wind-mill, kitchen waste biogas plant. Department has well furnished CAD lab consisting software like CATIA, ProE, Ansys, Fluent, Visual Nastran, MSC Patran, MSC- Nastran 4D, MatLab. Department offers short term courses in CAD, Pro-E, CATIA, CFD, Ansys etc. Department has association with ARAI central library and MoU with various industrial and research organization. The department has expertise in thermal power, RAC, Production engg., Tribology, Expert systems & neural networks, CAD/ CAM and robotics, design, Vibration & machine dynamics, FEA, CFD etc. Department runs Aero modeling club, RAC club and MESA.

The experienced faculty of the department has published & presented the technical papers in reputed International journals & conferences. Five staff members are pursuing Ph.D in different areas of Mechanical Engineering

More than 6 final year projects won first & second prize in the National Level Project competition during last 4 year at IIT Mumbai. Many students of department have presented the technical papers at state, national & international conferences. Department conducts many activities like aptitude test, group discussion, extempore, quize, speech competition etc. for overall development of the students. Till now more than 50 students from the department have secured merit position in University examinations and brought laurels to the institute by their exemplary performance.

Department of Computer Science & Engineering The Department has 10 well equipped laboratories having latest computing facilities.

The Department maintains campus wide well configured Network with OFC backbone, connected to more than 700 PCs of latest configuration with wired and wireless .The paper less documentation software i.e College Administrative software (CAS) is developed and installed in the campus. There are 5 high end servers, Sonic wall hardware Firewall with antivirus & Anti-span filtering. A CISCO Network Academy lab is established in the department in collaboration with CISCO Pvt. Ltd, Banglore and CCNA (Discovery & Exploration). An IBM Rational suite laboratory (Enterprise Edition) is set for students to design, develop and test the application software on various platforms.

The Department has highly qualified, dedicated and experienced faculty. Many faculty members are involved in research work.

The Department conducts training programs on IBM / CCNA on regular basis for the students. Separate 24 hours internet lab is established with 30 terminals. A Language lab is established with unique features in vidharbha region for the students to provide training in foreign Languages. Many students of the Department are bringing laurels to the institute every year by winning the prizes through paper presentation and Projects competitions. Many students have achieved merit position in university Merit list on consistent basis in SGBAU, Amravati.

Application Form:

Application Form can be obtained in person from the office of the Principal on payment of Rs. 1000/- (One Thousand Rupees only) on all working days between 11 a .m. to 5 p. m. (9.30 a. m. to 12.30 p.m on Saturday). The Application form for the above programmes can be downloaded from the website. The completed application form along with the attested Xerox copies of relevant documents / certificates and D.D. of Rs. 1000/- drawn in favour of “ Principal, Babasheb Naik College Of Engineering , PG Course” payable at Pusad should be submitted by _17 Aug_ to the Principal, Babasheb Naik College Of Engineering Pusad Dist Yavatmal (M.S.). Eligibility • B.E. Degree or equivalent in the relevant branch from an AICTE approved institute with at least 55% aggregate marks. • Candidate with valid GATE score will be given first preference.

Admission Procedure • Admission to M.E. Course in Digital Electronics, Structural Engineering,CAD/CAM , & Computer Science & Engineering will be done according to merit list prepared on the basis of valid GATE score student. • When enough GATE qualified candidates are not available the vacant seats will be offered to the non-GATE candidates as per merit based on total marks secured out of 100 as indicated below; i) Entrance Test - Maximum 70 Marks ii) Interview/ Viva-voce - Maximum 30 Marks Total 100 Marks • A panel of 3 teachers in the respective branch appointed by Principal, Babasaheb Naik College of Engineering shall conduct the entrance test & interview / viva – voce. • Candidates securing less than 40 marks out of 100 indicated above shall not be eligible for admission. • No complaint or any other matter will be entertained by the college in this respect. • Application for entrance test will not be considered unless: a) It is properly & correctly filled in and signed by the candidate appearing for test. b) It is accompanied by true copies of the certificates mentioned in application form for the admission to the said course and c) It is received in the office on or before the last date prescribed from time to time before closing hours. • The entrance test will have negative marking. • There shall be no re-totalling of marks or revaluation of the answer sheet of the entrance test. • The eligibility decided through entrance test would be valid for admission during that academic year only and would not be allowed to be carried forward for the next academic year. • The entrance test would be of one-hour duration. Discrepancy if any, noted by candidate in the provided question set should be reported with in 15 minutes after the commencement of the examination. • The entrance test will have multiple choice objective type questions. • The medium of entrance test will be English. • Syllabus for the entrance test are given in Annexure-I. • The merit list of the candidates eligible for admission, time schedule of the test, seating arrangement and roll number of candidates appearing for entrance test will be displayed on the notice board of the respective departments of the college. Hence the candidates are advised to see the notice board of the respective departments. Entrance Test: • A Written Entrance Test shall be conducted by the College for the non GATE candidates to fill up the vacant seats, if any, after admitting all GATE qualified candidates. • The syllabus for the entrance test is available with this brochure at Annexure-I and on college website. Stipend/Scholarship GATE qualified candidates may get Scholarship as per conditions prescribed by AICTE and if finally sanctioned by them. Conduct and Discipline • Students while studying in department of this university if found indulging in antinational /anti-social activities contrary to the provision of Acts & Laws enforced by Government and /or any other activity contrary to rules of discipline will be liable to be expelled from the department without any notice by the Competent Authority. •Candidates applying for admission against the seats reserved for backward classes mentioned in these Rules should note that only those candidates who actually belong to the castes and communities will be eligible for concession. • If any of the statements made in application form or any information supplied by the candidate in connection with his/her admission is later on, at any time, found to be false or incorrect, his/her admission will be cancelled, fees forfeited and he/she may be expelled from the department by the Competent Authority and prosecuted, if deemed necessary. • All candidates for admission to M.E. course in Engineering are required to give the following undertaking:- 1.
