1 Annual Report Submitted to 13 th Governing Body Meeting held on 4 th February 2018 Methodist College of Engineering & Technology affiliated to Osmania University is a non-minority institute founded in 2008 by Methodist Church of India under the leadership of Mr K. Krishna Rao. The present intake is 120 students in four branches ECE, CSE, Mechanical and Civil and 60 in EEE . The college also offers MBA programme with an intake of 60 and PG course ME (CAD/CAM) with 18 students. Total intake in the Academic Year 2018-19 is 618. The number of students admitted this year in BE I year is 505 as against the sanctioned intake of 540. The current total student strength of the college is about 2000. The Department of Mechanical Engineering is recognized as Research Centre by OU for carrying out research leading to the award of PhD degree. This college has the best and experienced teaching fraternity totaling to about 130 out of which 22 with PhD qualification, having interest both in teaching and also research work, in their fields of specialisation. This college is not just limited to the classroom- teaching, but spins beyond the textbooks to develop character and thus mould the total personality of students. This academic year is unique in the history of MCET as it has completed 10 years. We organized many events during this year as part of Decennial celebrations . Methodist College of Engineering & Technology affiliated to Osmania University is a

one of our student Mr Salman Ullah Khan from Department of Mechanical Engineering

bagged University first rank. This is the third time the Dept of Mechanical Engineering has

bagged University first rank. Earlier in 2013 one student bagged University first rank from

EEE department. In toto out of the seven passed out batches our college bagged 4 Gold

Medals. This is an ample testimony for the academic progress of the college.

It is heartening to note that many of the passed out students have been placed well in

reputed companies and also pursuing higher studies in India and abroad.

The main strength of the college is the inspiring and proactive management having rich

experience in the field of higher education. The management constantly strives hard to

provide quality education and takes care of the interests of both the students and faculty.

Important Milestones during the Journey of 10 years:

• Intake is enhanced to 618 from the modest intake of 240 in 2008 and has a total

strength of 2000 students

• Addition of 46000 sft floor area in two Blocks (Block C and Block D)

• Creation of centrally air conditioned Seminar Hall with 350 seating capacity

• During this year another block with a floor area of 42,500 sft in five floors (Block

E) is started and is expected to be completed before the commencement of the

next academic year

• Our college has been placed at 54 among the top Engineering Institutions in India

by Dalal Street Journal in 2015

• Ranked 22 among top Engineering Colleges in Telangana by Times of India-2016

• Bagged the Education Leadership Award for its excellence at the 25th edition of

“Business School Affaire” and “Dewang Mehta National Educational Awards” in

the category of Institutional Awards, in the year 2017

12 students passed Auto desk User Certification by appearing online test conducted in CAD/CAM lab

60 students of Mechanical Engineering have registerd for the Academic Partenership Programme on Electric Vehicle Engineering, a Joint Initiative of Imperial Society of Innovative Engineers (ISIE) & Automotive Industries, under MOU

Twenty (20) students participated in AutoCAD and Revit Competition series conducted by CADD Centre during October and November 2018 and 10 of them received certificates of Merit

One student from Civil Engineering department Secured 3rd prize in Computer Aided Drafting Competition at Vardhaman College of engineering

A Team of 6 students from ECE have developed a WOMEN SAFETY SYSTEM AND TRACKING DEVICE using GPS and GSM Technology. It’s a device where any women feel unsafe on roads or any other place; she can press a button wherein the GPS location will be sent to the nearby police and also parents. This work is shortlisted for INNOVATION INDIA by TEXAS INSTRUMENTS

Two ECE students, are selected as members of HYDERABAD YOUTH ACADEMY. They are actively participating to achieve 4 substantial development goals such as NO POVERTY, HEALTH AND WELL BEING , GENDER EQUALITY and CLEAN &AFFORDABLE ENERGY.

28 students of IV EEE participated in the international Conference on “Recent Developments in Clean and Safe Nuclear Power Generation” held during 3 rd to 5 th October

Hyderabad. Mechanical Engineering students have fabricated a battery operated truck as a

part of their project work and this is being used in the campus

Six students from CSE Attended Start-up Company meeting at T-HUB All the Fourth year students of CSE Attended Mandatory Skill Testing (

Youth4Work) as per the initiative of MHRD and AICTE Five students from CSE were selected for Deloitte Industry Visit through TASK Three final year students of CSE department organized a two day work shop

for about 75 registered students on PHP and MySQL as a part of encouragement for fast learners

One student from CSE Final year Ms V.Srividya has many credentials to her credit-

• Got offer letters from three companies - Vistex Asia-Pacific Private Limited ,veon

consulting pvt ltd. & Qspiders, Hyd.

• Got internship offer from OLC Academy, Hyderabad as a Software Testing Intern

through Internshala for the duration of 3 months.

• Successfully completed NPTEL Elite Certification on " Programming, Data Structures

and algorithms Using Python with a score of 61%.

• Oracle Industry Visit on 9th Oct 2018 and she bagged 1st Prize in Quiz competition.

• Shortlisted for 48Hr Hackathon organized by GRIET, Hyd.

• Submitted project idea for Smart India Hackathon-2017, Ministry of HRD, Govt. Of

INDIA.

• Successfully completed Capgemini coding challenge certificate.

• Attended TASK- Oracle Academy Student Day (Virtual) WORKSHOP on Feb 26th ,

2018 and got 20 certificates from the oracle academy.

• Attended TASK- MOOCS WORKSHOP on Aptitude and Reasoning on Feb 23rd-24th

Students Achievement in Sports at State and National Level

• Students from MBA and Civil Eng are the Winners in Badminton at the International Sports Fest at OP Zindal Global University, New Delhi

• They are also the Winners at the OU Inter College Badminton Champion ship held at CBIT

• EEE student Secured Silver Medal in Karate at the Junior Nationals Karate Championship held at Chindighat

• Civil Eng student bagged Gold Medal in Kick boxing at National Champion ship held in Pune

• ECE student bagged Silver Medal in Rowing championship held at Pune.

• ECE student represented Telangana state Senior Inter Dist Softball Championship and secured 4th position

• RECYCLE THE TRASH – SAVE OUR MOTHER EARTH: Live demonstration of

‘Making Compost by kitchen waste” by Mrs. Aruna Shekar , was held on 24/7/2018.

The students of IV ECE also exhibited simple projects using the theme ‘REUSE-

RECYCLE’ using trash material like straws, ice cream sticks, shampoo bottles etc.

• III ECE students- A Team comprising of 6 students headed by K.ANUROOP and

SAI PRADYUMNA have developed a WOMEN SAFETY SYSTEM AND

TRACKING DEVICE using GPS and GSM Technology. It’s a device where any

women feel unsafe on roads or any other place; she can press a button wherein the

GPS location will be sent to the nearby police and also parents. This work is

shortlisted for INNOVATION INDIA by TEXAS INSTRUMENTS.

• II ECE students, RATAN VIKRAM and M RUWAYD are selected as members of

HYDERABAD YOUTH ACADEMY-Season 8. They are actively participating to

achieve 4 substantial development goals such as NO POVERTY, HEALTH AND

GRADUATION DAY was conducted on 29.09.2018(Saturday).21 students

in the event and received certificates. Faculty and students of IV EEE (10 members)

participated.

ENGINEERS DAY: Department conducted the technical events on Engineers’ Day-2018

on 15 September 2018 (Saturday).Inauguration was held at 11.00 Hrs in the department.

Director sir, Dean sir, HOD-EEE addressed the students. Few students also spoke on the

importance of Engineers’ day. Faculty and students of EEE were present during the

inauguration. The events conducted are 1) Poster Presentation2) Poster Presentation 3)

Technical Quiz4) Working Models Exhibition

All the events were conducted during 0930 to 1630Hrs.At 16:30 Hrs the winners list was

announced and certificates were presented to participants. Motivational books and

certificates were presented to winners. The events were successfully conducted with the

cooperation of all staff and students.

STUDENTS DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM: one week program on Job oriented skills

like Aptitude, communications, facing interviews was conducted for III EEE students and

two week program was conducted in two phases for IV EEE students.

TRADITIONAL DAY: Traditional day was celebrated on 09.10.2018(Tuesday). 55

Students and all department staff members participated with traditional dresses and

participated in the events like Rangoli, Dandiya, Bathukamma, Mehendi design, Pot

breaking, etc.,
