“My laptop won't turn on. I have tried what I know and nothing seems to work.? Does this sound familiar? This article will help you.

There are numerous reasons your laptop might not turn on and no clues about what is likely to be a problem. In fact, the only sign that your laptop has a problem is that "nothing works!” Couple this with the fact that whatever is disturbing your laptop is a costly component of your PC such as the CPU or the motherboard. Trust me; you are likely to have a HORRIBLE day.

Fortunately, we have found a way of troubleshooting a laptop that isn't starting.

Don't panic your files are still safe.

A laptop has several phases of "can't start". Not that such a problem is compounded because your laptop features two sources: the AC and the laptop battery. If the AC isn't available, then the laptop uses the battery. Therefore, if your laptop doesn't turn on, then you may need to find out if its battery is charged or connected to the power supply. Besides, ensure that its battery is installed properly.

You can remove the battery and try to run the laptop from AC power. If this powers your laptop, then, your laptop's battery is defective and you may need to replace it. If you have a second battery, you can install it in your laptop. Some laptops have separate lamps for battery and AC power. If the AC power lamp lights but the battery one doesn't, then it is a battery issue.

Inspect the brick on the AC cord. Find out if you are using the right adapter for that laptop. One thing you should know is that other devices might be using such adapter but unless you get one that matches your laptop's volts and amps, that laptop may not turn on.

In case your laptop lamp is on but nothing is happening, that's an indicator that your laptop is alive. That shows that your PC's hardware has recognized the power. Therefore, the hitch lies with the laptop's hardware and not the source of power. If you believe that you are tech savvy, you can test some hardware. Check the removable disk drives and ensure that they are installed properly.
