Broadly conceived social networking can encompass all forms of media from mailing lists to blogs but now specifically refers to a new breed of websites bringing people together around common interests, issues, and shared experiences. TREND: Social Networking Innovation inspired by nature. Burrs inspired the most famous example of biomimicry: Velcro. The inventor, Georges de Mestral, noticed how well burrs stuck to his dog’s fur.
