A Mad Tea Party – Cross Stitch Design

This is an advanced fine-art cross stitch design of A Mad Tea Party, an illustration done by Arthur Rackham for the "Alice in Wonderland" book by Lewis Carroll, published in 1865. It tells of a girl named Alice who falls down a rabbit hole into a fantasy world. Alice is having a tea party with March Hare, the Hatter and Dormouse. "The table was a large one, but the three were all crowded together at one corner of it: No room! No room! they cried out when they saw Alice coming. There's PLENTY of room! said Alice indignantly, and she sat down in a large arm-chair at one end of the table."

Balloons – Peter Pan in Kensington GardenCross Stitch Design

This advanced fine-art cross stitch design was developed from Balloons (also known as The Lady with the Balloons, Who Sits Just Outside) which is an Arthur Rackham illustration for "Peter Pan in Kensington Gardens" by J.M. Barrie. It was originally part of an earlier work called "The Little White Bird," but the Peter Pan chapters were extracted and published as a separate work in 1906. Rackham is one of the best known and loved British illustrators of the Golden Age of Book Illustration.

The Mermaid and the Dragon – Cross Stitch Design

What a beautiful, graceful illustration this is! This fine-art cross stitch design was developed from the illustration, The Mermaid and the Dragon, created by English artist, Warwick Goble, for the 1920 publication of “Book of Fairy Poetry“ by Robert Louis Stevenson. Goble was one of the English artists associated with the Golden Age of Illustration.

The Six Swans – Cross Stitch Design

This fine-art cross stitch design, The Six Swans, comes from the beautiful illustration created by English artist, Warwick Goble, for the “Book of Fairy Poetry“ by Robert Louis Stevenson. This book was published in 1920. “The queen threw one of the shirts over each of them, and when the shirts touched their bodies, they were changed into swans, and flew away over the wood.”

Looking Very Undancy Indeed – Cross Stitch Design

This advanced fine-art cross stitch design, Looking Very Undancy Indeed, was developed from an illustration by British book illustrator Arthur Rackham for J.M. Matsuyama’s Mirror is an advanced fine-art cross stitch design developed from English illustrator Warwick Goble's illustration in "Green Willow and Other Japanese Fairy Tales" by Grace James, published in 1910. James gathered tales from many sources, and this illustration is one of forty done by Warwick Goble for this book. Cathedral of St. Saviour – Cross Stitch Design

This is an advanced cross-stitch design of the Cathedral of St. Saviour and the Kamennyj Bridge in Moscow. The Cathedral of Christ the Savior could possibly be the largest Orthodox Church in the world. The original Cathedral was built by the entire Russian nation. It was a visible symbol of faith, national glory, honor and a witness to many historical events. The Cathedral was consecrated in 1883 on the day Alexander III was crowned, and a year earlier, Tchaikovsky’s “1812 Overture” debuted there. Construction on the Cathedral began in 1837 and took forty years to build. It was exploded by the Soviet government in 1931 and rebuilt in 2000.

Rose-combed Dorking Cock – Cross Stitch Design

This beautiful advanced fine-art cross stitch design, Rose-combed Dorking Cock, was developed from a chromolithographed print from Lewis Wright's book, "The Illustrated Book of Poultry," published in 1880. It was a resource for anyone who wanted to keep various types of poultry. The Burpee Seed Company, the most famous name in seeds, has been producing catalogs for farmers and gardeners for more than 100 years. This is the cover of their 1886 garden, farm and flower-seeds catalog. The company was established in 1876 in Philadelphia, and business came primarily by mail order from their seed warehouse.

Chocolat Menier – Cross Stitch Design

This is an advanced cross-stitch poster design of the famous Menier Chocolate poster by Firmin Bouisset. It features a little girl using a piece of chocolate to write “Eviter les contrefacons,” which means “avoid imitations,” on a wall. The iconic image of this small girl became an internationally recognized symbol. It was used on Menier’s packaged products as well as promotional items such as tin ware, dishes, canister sets, and even children’s exercise books. Contratto – Cross Stitch Design

The poster design, Contratto, shows a cheerful young woman enjoying a large glass of bubbly. This fine-art cross stitch design shows white bubbles pouring over the side of the large orange glass she holds over her head. It was created in 1921 by Italian-born artist Leonetto Cappiello and is a very popular poster today. A white mat and black frame would make this a great addition to any wall. Cappiello is often called the father of modern advertising because of his unique poster designs. He had no formal training in art, and used bold figures that popped out of black backgrounds – a startling contrast to poster's early style.

The Prince of Pilsen – Cross Stitch Design

This vintage, fine art, advanced cross stitch design, The Prince of Pilsen Poster, originated in the early 20th century. The Prince of Pilsen by Lüders & Pixley was an extremely popular all-star musical comedy which opened at the Tremont Theatre in Boston May, 1902. It had great success there as well as on the road and opened in New York March, 1903, at the Broadway Theatre. It later opened at the Shaftesbury Theatre in London, and for the next 20 years was often produced in revival on Broadway and throughout America.

Lippincott’s Monthly Magazine was a 19th century literary magazine published in Philadelphia from 1868 to 1915. It relocated to New York to become McBride’s Magazine and then merged with Scribner’s Magazine in 1916. It published several notable authors of the day such as Arthur Conan Doyle (Sherlock Holmes), Rudyard Kipling and Oscar Wilde. This design has a blend of wonderful colors and great design.
