How did you use media technologies in the construction and research planning and evaluation stages?

The internet

The internet has been a very good resource for information as it has allowed me to understand more about what needs to go into the production for it to be successful. It has also told me exactly what i can and cannot use when brainstorming ideas on what storyline to go on in order to avoid plagiarism from other people’s ideas. By using the internet to conduct research on websites it has been very effective as it has been a lot quicker than the alternative then researching into a book that could take twice the amount of time and also not given me the amount of information and answers on topics that the internet can provide.

YouTube

YouTube is the biggest worldwide video sharing website so when conducting research it made the most sense to use this when looking into my chosen genres of fantasy and drama. As well as YouTube providing more in-depth research information into genres for my production it has given me a look into exactly upload my own videos to the site in a more interesting format for my audience instead of just on paper, an example of this is uploading my focus group audience feedback and teaser trailer production. In addition to using websites like YouTube other ways of showing work and task on my blog were needed such as sites like http://www.slideshare.net/ and Prezi, these were used nearly as much as YouTube.

Slideshare

Slide share a lot like YouTube allows the user to upload videos to the internet, however instead of a video format it is done in a PowerPoint presentation. This site was mainly used to present information that couldn’t be done in a video format.

The application has been very useful as when i upload this information onto my blog it shows the information in the same PowerPoint format and present bold writing that can be seen by the majority of people. The application is also easily accessible because if its not working directly on the blog by copying the link the public is able to see it on the website.

Prezi

Prezi has also been one of the main sources presenting my work, for example Prezi is a site that allows that allows the user to create their own layout and format of how they want their page to look like whether or not that be with text boxes or pictures. The site also has a feature of allowing the user to use the zoom in and out tool which can be very useful as a viewer because it allows them to see the whole page without having to read every last detail. It also makes the page seem more interactive and interesting to look at.

In order to actually upload a video to YouTube through the application software of Adobe Premiere a video is put through the YouTube converter and then the link is embedded to my blog. This displayed the information written or video in a an pleasing way for my audience because YouTube has good quality video formats and picture quality go through their systems. However i could have used the website Scribd to do this as an alternative but i believed that YouTube provided what was needed which was quality videos for my audience.

Software used

The software that was used within the production consisted of Adobe Premier, Adobe Effects and also Adobe Photoshop.

Adobe Premier has been the most important and most used software as it has been the application that has created the actual teaser trailer within the production. Adobe effects were used to create the titles and writing seen within the trailer.

Premier has been allowed me to create the trailer that has come out overall successful. An example of this is when i have used various tools to create this for instance the title tool has allowed me to add information into the audience and also go back and edit changing things that done need to be in the sequence. Premier has also helped me to change the audio by increasing the volume or even getting rid of it all together for certain parts of the trailer.

Another programme that was used is adobe effects it was only used briefly in order to create some of the lettering and fonts that were needed for the production such as the title of the trailer.

Out of all the software used premier was the hardest of them all, mainly because when other people started to make their trailers it interfered with the speed quality slowing the whole production down, however overall the software produced a good quality piece.

In conclusion is believe that by using media technology throughout the whole production it made the whole thing come together more than it would without it as it speed up the process of having to make it all. On the other hand if there’s anything that i believe that i could improve on i would spend more time on adobe Photoshop as i believe that in adding slightly more detail it could have improved the final product.
