} I have chosen Bauer Media Group to publish my
production because they were the best compared to
competitors. First of all, they target 16 countries, including
the UK, supplying them with over 300 magazines. Bauer
also have a massive workforce compared to IPC Media for
example, and it grew even larger when they purchased
EMP Consumer Media, and then became the largest
publishing group in the UK, in 2008. Their website is also
modern and contemporary compared to IPC Media, which
suggests to me that they are in with the trend, which is also
how I want my magazine to be thought of.
} Bauer Media Group publishes magazines such as Ride,
Empire and Match, all targeting young audiences with very
different genres. This highlights to me that Bauer are a lot
more diverse compared to IPC Media, and takes into
consideration the audience and interest before publishing.
} Regarding my magazine (POWER), they offer online and
print versions, which widens the audience, and allows my
production to keep the reader up to date with new music
and gossip. They also provide publications on the radio, TV
and mobile, which is something I would look into offering
the viewers. } Overall, I think Bauer Media Group have the perfect reach,
network, revenue and individuality to be a great publisher
for my magazine.

} IPC Media is the leading UK publisher
for print and digital publications. They
offer huge names such as NME, Look
and Woman’s Weekly. They reach a total
of 26 million UK adults amongst their
productions, and their digital websites
receive 25 million views per week.
} This impressive reach did make me
consider IPC Media, however because
their products are not specific and do
target mainstream audiences, I decided
this is not the media institute for me.
Furthermore, if I decided to publish with
this group, I would feel intimated by
shadowing their large magazine NME,
which covers rock, indie and pop genres.
} Consequently, I think Bauer Media
Group is the best choice for me in
publishing my product.

} Vibe is a music and entertainment company
founded by Quincy Jones. It features RnB, hip
hop artists, actors and entertainers. In the
Summer of 2009, the production shut down
but was then bought by Intermedia Partners,
which is a firm based in New York City. The
magazine is now only online and makes
revenue off advertisements etc.
} Intermedia Partners was not a institute I
showed much interest in because they are
formally known as a profit making firm, and
do not take into context specific genres and
audiences, as long as they are making a lot of
money. From one perspective this may be a
good publisher to go for regarding money
wise, however I decided not to choose them.
Furthermore, they are based in NY, therefore
center their knowledge on USA audiences and
have no regard to the UK.

} Receiving audience responses on SurveyMonkey and
Facebook, allowed me to precisely workout where I should
distribute my magazine and how.
} Obviously, I would stock hard copies in local newsagents and
book shops like WHSmith. This would allow the general
public to access my magazine easily.
} Considering the target audience, I know one of their interests
is shopping, therefore a good place for my publication to be is
in urban, clothing stores like TopShop and Urban Outfitters.
This would specify to my primary audience, and give them a
chance to purchase my magazine.
} I think having access to my magazine in places like Youth
clubs would also be beneficial, as they target my social class of
students and young adults. } Festivals and hip hop gigs would also be a good place to pick
up my magazine, For example, Wireless and Parklife festival
offer a lot of artists I will feature in my production, therefore
an audience is there to purchase them.
} Lastly, I would have all of my products online, so for
example, have an app and website that allows viewers such as
busy students to access the information. This widens the
audience to some people that maybe don’t have time to go
and buy a hard copy. Furthermore, I will feature POWER on
social networking sites like Facebook, Twitter and Tumblr,
which allows the viewers to like and subscribe. It also offers a
feature of being interactive with the audience, and they are
able to comment on new music and gossip.
