THE CAUSE

EVERYDAY ATLEAST 7-8 PEOPLE DIE AT THE

RAILWAY CROSSING.

THE CHECK

The gates should be closed when the train is at a specific

distance from the railway gate to save time.

There should be an optimum distance between the track and

the gate, so that if by chance someone crosses the gate

he/she can stay safely between the track and the gate.

THE CHECK

There should be a mechanism through which people are

forced to slow down even if they pace-up and stop at the

gate.

There should be a proper mechanism through which we

ensure that there is no inter-mixing of traffic from both sides

when gates are open.

The gate should be such that it can be ensured that people

don’t cross from bottom or sides.

RAILWAY GATE DESIGN

1) Lifting the whole road above ground level.

2) Barrier gates that come up from the ground.

3) Electronically control opening and closing(weight sensor or

train detector).

4) Four quadrant gate.

5) Elevator type opening and closing of the gates.

6) Create spikes at the top to stop people

from crossing from above.

7) Having safe distance of the gate from

the track.

8) Color of gate(yellow and black stripes)

9) Use of LED’s(can make patterns such as STOP).

STOPPING THE PEOPLE

1) Use of signage such as warnings, posters of gods and

goddesses.

2) Audio illusions(sound of train) and warnings(ambulance

siren).

3) Visual indications or signals of arrival of train.

4) Make zigzag road.

5) Normal and diagonal speed breakers.

6) Firing water using a water gun.

7) Color of the gate or use of LED's on gates(depicting STOP

sign).

8) Adding barriers to side of the gates.

CONTROLLING THE TRAFFIC

1) Bifurcation of road.

2) Common gate that serves the purpose of stopping as well as

controlling the traffic.

3) Four quadrant gate/alternate opening closing of gates.

4) Alternately moving barriers up and down.

Solar energy can be used as the main power source.
