1. INDOORS When filming indoors the background should be plain. No prominent objects should be positioned within the picture frame.

2. WHITE Try to avoid white backgrounds. Off-white or color backgrounds are more interesting.

3. CITY If you decide to film outdoors make sure the shot is not too busy. Choose an interesting backdrop. If you are filming in a metropolitan city make it recognizable in the video.

4. DAY LIGHT Always check whether you have enough light. Film preferably during the day in optimal light conditions.

5. ARTIFICIAL LIGHT Apply the right camera settings when filming inside using artificial light so that your video doesn’t appear dark or yellow.

6. BACKLIGHT Avoid the backlight! The light source has to be behind the camera at all times otherwise the resulting picture will be too dark.

7. CAMERA POSITION All the shots should be filmed from the front. Avoid profile shots.

Use either the whole figure in the picture frame or a half figure. Don’t use extreme close-ups and don’t zoom-out too far.

9. FIGURE POSITION Positioning can be either central or clearly in the left area of the screen or right area of the screen.

10. FACE AREA Avoid obstructing the face (do not touch the face, drink or put any objects in front of the face).

Take in account that the Happy Melly “mask” will be added as an extra layer on top of your video.

11. SPACE Verify that there is sufficient space above the head and that it does not nearly touch the picture fame. The Happy Melly “mask” would then be cropped by the video frame.

12. SIZE Make sure your video has the right resolution and will not appear pixelated. Alway film using the highest resolution of your device. Minimum size of the raw material should be 1024x576 px.

13. FOCUS Double-check if the shot is sharp before filming. The figure has to be in focus at all times.
