Aim of the study

To understand the green building & sustainable building and find out the alternative building materials to make a building eco-friendly.

WHAT IS GREEN BUILDING

Green building (also known as green construction or sustainable building) is the practice of creating structures and using processes that are environmentally responsible and resource-efficient throughout a building's life-cycle: from sitting to design, construction, operation, maintenance, renovation, and deconstruction.

Constraints

1.Cost of materials a. Material cost varying over a range covering quotes

from various manufacturers and market brands. b. The builders usually gets a negotiated price for the

material which is much lower than the market cost.2.Transportation a. Many products have company distribution center in

the city, thus although it may not be produced locally it does not affect the cost.

Why eco-friendly materials?

Phenomenal growth in the construction industry that depends upon depletable resources.

Production of building materials leads to irreversible environmental impacts.

Using eco-friendly materials is the best way to build a eco-friendly building.

What is Eco-friendly material ?

A Building products or materials that has been designed to do the least possible damage to the environment is called as Eco friendly Material.

The Building Material, Building Products or services that have a lesser or reduced effect on human health and the environment.

• Location :- Sughad, Ahmedabad.

ABOUT PROJECT:-

• Architect :- Yatin Pandya.

• Total Project Cost :- 2 crore with landscape & interiors.

• Site Area :- 7418 sq.mts.

• Total Built up Area :- 2400 sq.mts.

• Completion : - 2000 Jan. / 2005 Dec.

The building site is about 2.5 km away from Ahmedabad city limit and having a public transport ( Bus stop ) within half km. from the site.

So its evolution point according to GRIHA (rating criteria no:- 1) is 1.
