One of the biggest engineering project in the world. Also known as the Dubai Canal, this waterway brings water inland to the vast desert from the Arabian Gulf. The elaborate plan includes creating a desert oasis along the entire stretch of the canal.

The Arabian Canal, is a planned 75 km man-made canal

Dubai Canal Project started in 2007

It is one of the mega projects in Dubai even in the world

“Limitless” have been awarded the contract to carry out the project

It would begin at the Dubai Marina and will go round the Al Maktoum International Airport before entering the sea again at the outer end of Palm

If completed, it would require the excavation of 1.1 billion cubic meters of soil

The canal itself was projected to cost $11 billion

Plans also called for $50 billion to be spent constructing a new "city" within the city

The Canal will be fully navigable, with marinas, bridges, islands, beaches and waterfront walkways.

The canal will function as a navigable sea level waterway, providing a new arena for tourism and recreational boating

The Arabian canal would be 150 metres wide and six metres deep, enough to accommodate yachts up to 40 metres long.
