Ellipse is defined as the ability to see

Change in color

Knowing that……

How does one effectively use LED’s?

Page 11: Dasal Xicato Presentation 2011

Single Point LED’s

• Visually Appealing

• Optically easier to control

Vela & Draco luminaires

Ultra Compact Series

• Smaller Luminaire

• Easier to Thermally manage

Page 12: Dasal Xicato Presentation 2011

Multi Point LED’s as Downlights ?

• Collimator approach can cause multiple

shadows

• Visually Unappealing

• LED’s from multiple bins resulting in various color temperatures from LED to LED

• Using phosphor converted white LEDs necessitates usage of individual collimators over each LED and a dedicated design

• If the LED count decreases because of increasing LED efficiency then a new optical design will be necessary for the luminaire. It is not “future proof”.

Page 13: Dasal Xicato Presentation 2011

..If multi Point LED’s are not the answer for Higher Lumen output downlights, what is……..?

Introducing the Xicato Spot Module

Cold PhosphorMaximizing Robust Life

“Cold Phosphor Technology” results in higher efficacies and lifetime of both LED and phosphor

o Reduces heat due to photon recycling 360o heat conduction

o All surfaces thermally coupledo Heat conduction from top and bottom of

device Results in a uniquely miniaturised module

with relatively low heat sinking demands

360o thermal Path

700ma Heat Sink

Page 16: Dasal Xicato Presentation 2011

The design of the Xicato Spot Module tackles these challenges and results in a lighting solution without compromises

Patent pending internal optical mixing cavity (allowing reduction of LED count over time)

Patent pending thermal design

Patent pending “Cold Phosphor Technology”

Ability to use full distribution of production LEDs while maintaining consistent color and flux performance (product – product and over temperature and lifetime)

Every DASAL LED luminaire undergoes

thorough thermal testing and performance reviews,

including LM79 testing

Page 27: Dasal Xicato Presentation 2011

The Xicato Spot Module integrated into any DASAL luminaire can be replaced by a future

version with a different LED count without necessitating any changes

to the optics and uniformity of the luminaire.
