- Developing your clothing personality is  important for developing self-confidence and a sense of comfort and satisfaction with yourself. It helps in crafting an image of yourself. The way you dress and project yourself is a way of communicating your personality, values and lifestyle to the world around you.

So how exactly do you discover your clothing personality?Tips to get you started:

Get to know yourself—An important aspect of dressing and style is self-awareness.

Look for some inspiration— Observe the clothing choices and combinations she makes and try to incorporate them in your wardrobe.

Give away items that are “not you”

Know your body—You can make clothing choices that will enhance and complement your shape.

Shop solo - This will let you make independent choices toward the goal of dressing in a manner that reflects the image you want for yourself, not by the standards and expectations of others.

Types of Clothing Personality

1. CASUAL/NATURAL/RELAXED Comfort, practicality and ease are important to you

You're likely to wear comfortable fabrics, like stretch knits

You're a no fuss person

Your make-up is likely to be minimal, if you wear any at all

You're generally not a fashion follower

Your work and casual wear might be similar or the same.

Characteristics of the Casual Fashion Personality:

- Casual describes your style perfectly. You prefer jeans and T-shirts, sweats, and pants. Your favorite shoes are sneakers and flip-flops. Comfort is important to you and often trumps style. Your casual fashion style seems appropriate for a casual lifestyle. Since you're not planning on appearing on the red carpet anytime soon, you don't worry too much about high fashion. You're more likely than not to be over 40. Tradition is important to you. You may occasionally become frustrated when you can't find the exact style of a beloved item of clothing, handbag, or shoe that has worn out. And you frequently keep your fashion accessories and clothing until they are worn, just because much of what you buy does not go out of style. Although you won't be the flashiest person in a room, you will always look good.

Gamines like clothes but not anything fussy instead choosing slim fitting styles.  Gamine personalities enjoy expressing their lively natures through their clothing, choosing colour over neutral or sombre shades and using accessories.

This advice is for both the (1) Confident & Sophisticated; and (2) Glamorous & Alluring: With your fashion forwardness you'll risk going 'over-the-top' with details such as dramatic/high impact colors and fierce statement accessories.

If this is not your goal (you don't want to intimidate people on certain occasions/settings) then you might want to tone it down a little.

5. Trendy—Conscious of the latest items

Bring it on--the latest, newest, cutting-edge fashion designs in both clothing and accessories. These all catch the attention of the woman with a trendy fashion personality. Her friends are likely to consult her when it comes to fashion because they know she's always on top of the trends, and she's shopping for the newest styles before they even arrive in the stores.

Your cutting edge style and love of celebrity fashion may lead you to wear inappropriate clothing or accessories to work at times, so be careful not to hinder your career by what you wear.

Try not to break the bank by overspending on fashionable clothing and accessories.

Characteristics of the Trendy Fashion Personality:

Trendy describes your style perfectly. You prefer the latest, most up-to-date fashion available. You often find yourself looking for fashion you've seen in a magazine before it even arrives in the stores. You're more likely than not to be under 40.

6. Eclectic Personality - Mixing different styles in one. Usually creative people. Likes to contrast various styles.

 Eclectic Clothing Personality signals that your style is creative, colorful and bit bold. You like to mix different styles in one, making richly contrasting outfits. For example, abstract graphics and strong colors such as emerald green, hot pink, electric blue, etc. You make your own fashion rules.

Styles of Eclectic

Your Eclectic clothing personality is often referred to Indie style which means ‘independent’. It often overlaps with Trendy. A hint of Drama is most often present in your style because of its bold and angular flair.

7. Bohemian—Leans toward exotic pieces and hippie vibe.

Styles of Bohemian

This fashion style represents many flavors, leaning towards the hippie (wide leg pants, retro prints, etc.), quirky and kitchy cool classification. Bohemian clothing style usually overlaps with Romantic and Eclectic, but with 'pure' boho consisting more of casual and ethnic elements.
