Do you know Jesús Led?

Jesús Led, Barcelona 1987

This young and talented painter comes from a family of artists. He has always followed his own steps as he’s a self-educated painter.

Jesús understands the canvas as a surface where there’s a problem to solve, almost like an experiment that needs to solve himself.

The dialog between the master’s of the Spanish and Italian Baroque, are quite obvious on his compositions and often seeks to reinterpret them in order to bring nowadays the essential substance.

His approaching to the creative act is highly unique and intuitive.

“Jesús Led presents a plain and understandable work for everyone, but without

mysticisms, a figure that is feed by books and museums, which seeks to evoke the everyday atmostphere through a careful light study, gesture, or psychology of the portrait. His works convinces without having to add any explanation as the greatest artists, from Leonardo to Tapias.

However, I would like to mark the renewed succes of figurative painting, which represents perhaps the look of an era that is no loger so concerned to freedom, but to understand itself. Jesús Led’s constructions are the product of the involvement on his environtment, and freedom is his choice, which remains however strictly liable. It is not the model of young artist who subverts the rules, rather than who is searching in a desert a chaos system and has sought a dialog with pictorial tradition. Note that I say talk, because the past does not act as a mesure, but more as a food. Actually, lives, eats, tells stories, speaks about his day, and again shows his love for painting, but also the bars, family, music… Powered by nature and culture in equal mesure he first tries to think and then paint. His love for the tradition is not reverential, he makes use of it, and the other dimensions of his life to generate discourses. I think he achieves a synthesis that out generation pretend to resolve, a mixture of freedom and resposability, a program that seeks novelty for novelty, and chooses his own way, which in the case of Jesús Led offers, using a technique recued from the past, and present a very real experience, a look full of sentiment and

Jesús Led spends most of the time in his studio. Where all the creating process comes through.

As an artist wants to capture the power of the light in each portrait. For that reason he uses the sun light during his workday. He also thinks that the first few hours of sunshine in his studio, when the light is brighter, are the best to capture the real light on his creations.

Exhibitions

Jesús Led had the pleasure to attend to the MIAMI RIVER ART FAIR 2013.

He had the opportunity to go over thanks to an invitation given from Nina Torres, one of the most important gallerist in Miami.

Furthermore, several gallerist from US, Mexico, Colombia, Russia and Montecarlo showed their interest in his art.

The fact of being there was for Jesús Led a great achievement as this was the first big Fair that he was able to attend.
