Why BlueBRIDGE?

Building Research environments fostering Innovation, Decision making, Governance and

Education for Blue Growth

To support capacity building in interdisciplinary research communities actively involved in increasing scientific knowledge about resource overexploitation, degraded environment and ecosystem with the aim of providing a more solid

ground for informed advice to competent authorities and to enlarge the spectrum of growth opportunities as addressed by the Blue Growth Societal Challenge

How BlueBRIDGE supports Blue Growth

Aquaculture

Research Sector

Ecosystem Approach to

Fisheries

• Tailor made data management services

• Operated through Virtual Research Environments (VREs)

The VRE approach• A VRE is a web-based system that can be accessed on-demand

through a simple user interface. • It provides users with a secure access to collaborative tools,

services, data and computational facilities meeting their specific needs.

• Created on-demand, hardware setup and software deployment required to operate these facilities are completely transparent to the VRE creator.

VRE is the perfect approach to address the challenges of modern science which is increasingly global, multi-disciplinary

and networked

Is BlueBRIDGE only for the research sector?

“The development of the BlueBRIDGE smart solutions will importantly support decision-makers involved in the ecosystem approach to fisheries and aquaculture management, by facilitating the knowledge production chain from the initial phases of data collection, through to aggregation, analysis and the production of indicators for competent authorities and investors.”

Marc TaconetChief of the Fishery Statistics and Information Branch Food and Agriculture Organisation

Kostas Seferis CEO

Integrated Information System SA (I2S)

“In recent years our customers coming from the aquaculture sector became more and more aware of the fact that in order for an

aquaculture enterprise to remain viable and profitable, it must be environmentally sound and able to monitor its performance. By

integrating some of the analysis and simulation algorithms of our own company software into the BlueBRIDGE infrastructure, we can enhance

our data services better, supporting aquaculture producers”
