Do you know that you are a genius?
Before we discover the genius within, let us do an interesting exercise. Let us list the names of a few people, whom we consider as geniuses...
It could be Sachin Tendulkar. It could be AR Rahman. It could be Rajinikanth. It could be Viswanath Anand.
No doubt, the above legends are geniuses of their respective professions.
Just for a moment, visualize...
Sachin Tendulkar as an office goer. AR Rehman as a sportsperson. Rajinikanth as a sales manager. Viswanath Anand as a musician.
Visualize...Do you see them successful? All the above legends would have been miserable failures if they had chosen to do anything other than what they are currently doing. They are considered as geniuses because they chose to do for what they are born for.
The reason why majority of the world lives an ordinary life is because they did not choose the work which they are most suited for. Most of them chose a career of convenience than a career of conviction.
Most of them took up a profession based on pure monetary benefits and they just exist in their jobs without knowing how to come out of it. Since they are in the wrong profession, the world calls them mediocre and they are yet to know that they are geniuses.
No one has put it better than Dr. Albert Einstein who said, “Everybody is a genius. If you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its full life believing that it is stupid”.
Who are you?
Are you a fish? Then you must swim. Decide to live only in water and live the rest of your life becoming the best fish in the world.
Are you a bird? Then you must fly. Don’t aspire to walk or run. Fly and strive to become the best bird in the world.
Are you a deer? Then you must run. When you can run faster than any other living creature, why see the bird or fish and longing to fly or swim? Invest every bit of your time in becoming the best deer in the world.
It is true. If you find a work, for which you are born for, you’ll realize that you too are a genius.
Sachin Tendulkar has said this beautifully in the celebration ceremony of his hundred centuries. He said, “As a 15-year-old boy, I realized that I know only one thing -- I know how to hold the cricket bat and hit as hard I could. And I did that only consistently for the past 23 years”.
You too are a genius. You too can become the Sachin Tendulkar of your profession. Choose the work that your heart desires and live the rest of the life getting proficient in it.
