Leave Out the Fancy Fonts
Stick to defaults fonts that ALL computers can read – scanning software might not be able to read them. Our favourites are:
Times New Roman Arial Calibri
Have a Simple Layout Scanning software isn’t sentimental when it comes to the way a CV looks. Keep your layout simple, with clear breaks for each different section making it easier to ‘read’ by the scanning robots. Avoid using tables, floating text boxes and image objects – stick to plain text in a word document. Check out our example on the next slide…

Key Words are King
Key criteria in any job description needs to be easy to see in CV – that way the scanning robots will rank your CV higher for the suitability the role you have applied for online. Example: A job advert asks for a HARD WORKING candidate, make sure you say you are hard working. Asks for a certain qualification? Make sure its added and formatted correctly.
