What is Workaholism

Addiction to work is a kind of psychosocial problem that is characterized by two primary features –working excessively and working compulsively.

Between the factors of risk that drive to this addiction can be:

The economic pressures familiar. The fear to lose the work. Strong need to achieve success and

desired position The excessive ambition for power,

money and prestige The inability to set priorities. Lack of personal feelings are

supplemented with the job

Consequences of the Workaholism

Workaholism generates a negative impact on family life, as it leads to isolation, divorce and the destruction of family life.

They may also develop health problems like cardiovascular diseases, gastric, hypertension, muscle and anxiety.

Prevention and interventionEvery worker has to take into account that:

There is a lot of things to enjoy, not just work.

In the work tasks is important and necessary to delegate.

The workday is eight hours. The work done at home should be the

exception.

Further, the addiction psychotherapeutic work must be performed with the same pattern as any other addiction, to regain balance in their work and personal life.
