Engineering Manager Process Improvement / Developing Products / Engineering Automation / Employee Development
Engineering Leader / Management: Earned reputation as a dedicated coach and mentor with distinctive
ability to train and lead efficient goal-focused teams. Passionate visionary: developing efficient engineering
processes and teams; leading to improved productivity, quality, as well as reducing engineering costs, resulting
in increased capacity and revenue. Outstanding professional track record for engineering products;
managing engineering resources, outsourcing partners, cross functional teams, deliverables, schedules, and
budgets to meet business objectives.
Process & Product Improvements: Perceptive ability to recognize and execute improvements in engineering
processes utilizing significant mechanical design knowledge experience, and Knowledge Base Engineering
solutions. Administers sound engineering principles to develop innovative, producible designs; leading to
outstanding improvements in productivity, costs, product quality, backed with thorough documentation,
exemplary dimensional analysis, and supporting thermal and structural analysis.
Improved engineering processes: Led in the development of product charts, design programs,
implementation of 3D modeling and PDM software, as well as writing procedures and work instructions.
Coached the engineering staff to improve and master critical skills sets, as well as mentored their thoughts
and beliefs to drive success. As a result, these efforts led to a 22% increase in productivity, 36% decrease in
engineering costs, and 79% decrease in customer warranties.
Increased capacity and revenue: Led a team in building and programming configuration models, as well
as creating detailed design guides. The development of this Knowledge Base Engineering (KBE) solution led
in an additional 35% reduction of engineering labor hours and a 25% increase in capacity equaling $9M in
additional revenue.
Reduced initial development time: Developed design programs to improve quality, reduce calculation
errors and validating designs, as well as writing a 75 page mechanical design handbook. The design
programs led to the development of a Knowledge Base Engineering (KBE) solution that was integrated
within the 3D parametric models reducing the initial development time by 95%.

A Progression of Growth
POWELL INDUSTRIES, DELTA/UNIBUS DIVISION, Northlake, Illinois 12/2005 – 7/2013
Designs and manufacturers isolated phase bus, non-segregated / segregated phase bus duct, and cable bus.
ENGINEERING MANAGER
Recruited to lead and improve the engineering processes for the Non-Segregated and Cable Bus product lines,
which was moved from a closed facility.
Increased engineering productivity 22%, decreased engineering costs 36%, and decreased engineering
customer warranties 79% through process improvements.
Increased engineering capacity 25% equaling $9M in additional revenue through the development of a
Knowledge Base Engineering solution. Generated annual manufacturing cost savings of $88,000 by redesigning and eliminating side rail welding.

ANDREW CORPORATION RF POWER AMPLIFER DIVISION, Addison, Illinois 6/2001 – 12/2005
Designs and manufactures single-carrier and multi-carrier RF power amplifiers for use in Cellular, PCS/DCS, CDMA, W/CDMA, and 3G systems.
SENIOR MECHANICAL ENGINEER
Recruited to lead the mechanical engineering team for a new business group start-up; developing
electromechanical assemblies consisting of aluminum die-cast and machined enclosures. Projects were
developed and managed from concept through production with the utilization of DFM techniques, GD&T,
Microsoft Project, Excel, Power Point, and SolidWorks.
Developed design programs that created design standardization and improved quality, while dramatically
reducing the mechanical design cycle by 95%.
Reduced aluminum die-cast costs by redesigning enclosures that eliminated secondary machining
operations, resulting in a $4.00 per casting cost savings and increased daily production capacity.
Solved early production RF isolation issues by conducting design of experiments to find the root cause.
Managed multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining project schedules, as well as keeping detailed
records of every project, which include design techniques and design data.
Presented international design reviews to customers in France, China and Italy.
WESTELL TECHNOLOGIES, Aurora, Illinois, Westell acquired Teltrend 2/1992 – 6/2001
TELTREND INCORPORATED, St. Charles, Illinois
Designs and manufactures transmission products used by telephone companies to provide voice and data. SENIOR MECHANICAL ENGINEER
Developing and managing electromechanical assemblies, from conception through production, of thermal
dissipating sheetmetal and plastic indoor and outdoor enclosures. Projects were developed and managed
from concept through production with the utilization of DFM techniques, GD&T, Microsoft Project, Excel, Power
Point, Unigraphics, and Pro-Engineer.
Reduced development cycle of front panels 75% by developing design guides that calculated the correct
cutout size and location dimensions for components relating to the front panels.
Programmed solid models of sheetmetal card guides to model themselves, saving 95% in development
time of new mounting configurations.
Implemented an annual cost saving of $198,500 by changing from metal front panels to conductive plastic
panels.
Saved $300,000 annually in manufacturing costs by redesigning similar mountings into one common
mounting.
Solved NEBS level III fire test requirement on enclosures by developing a fire restraint devise that did not
disrupt the thermal properties of the equipment in order to contain the flames. Patent no. US 6,301,108 B1
Proposed a plan to reduce manufacturing costs of popular NCTE devices, by reducing the card width and
conceptualized new mountings. This increased market share by offering the smallest footprint, and a
combined profit of 236%.
