First things first…• Start gathering the information needed to build out your Profile. Examples:
• Job history
• School information
• Certifications
• Organizations where you are a member
• Skills that you have obtained over the course of your career
• Volunteer information
• Make a list of everything you can think of that you have learned and accomplished within your
career.
• Use a Word processor to type and spell check the information you plan to place within your
various Profile fields.

Gather your information
Before you start updating your Profile in a large way, you might want to turn off the ‘Notify your network.’
Make a list of keywords you think might be used to located someone with your areas of expertise.
Get started with Groups. Pick 1-3 that interest you. It’s a good starting point.
Make a list of topics you feel qualified to write about and use LinkedIn Publisher to create a post. (Access via your Home page and click the ‘Write an article’ button to get started.)
Start making regular use of the Status Updates to share helpful articles, motivational quotes, tips and even notification of events that you attending. Don’t overdo the use of this feature. Start with a once-a-day strategy.
