6 ways to get Noticed 5
6 When you meet someone, focus on how you can support them
Getting a business card or becoming a LinkedIn contact doesnt get
you noticed. Asking the right questions and providing high value
does. 1 Look for ways to provide value instead of focusing on the
outcome. Dont wait to establish relationships until you need
something. Turn the switch on how you build powerful networks.
7 Stop Comparing Yourself to Others When you compare yourself
to others, you lose; you dampen your light and fail to show your
own strengths. Comparison drains your creative potential. 2 Think
about what makes you so excited that you can barely stand it. Go DO
that.
Dont Make Excuses that You are Too Busy 3 There isnt enough
time to go to the gym, cook, meet with friends, start a new
project, and read a book. Life is not about time, but rather about
commitment, connection to outrage, hope, and a belief that your
leadership will lead to real change. Commitment > Time Am I
spending my time and energy connecting with the values that inspire
me to act? Keep asking yourself 8
9 Make Good Use of Your Energy 4 Time is constant; you cant
manage it. But you can manage your energy. Sometimes, saying no is
actually part of serving both someone else and yourself. Dont waste
your energy - you cant afford to.
10 Commit to your Greatness 5Its time to realize that you dont
need to be perfect. If you want to dream, innovate, and develop
world-changing ideas, you need to live your experiments out day by
day. That's how we improve - in small, daily increments.
Start with Your Story 6Your story evokes values and creates a
connection with others that builds a real relationship. It is
critical to overcome feelings of being judged, of being different,
in order to tell your personal story. Its natural to feel afraid of
being honest about your life story, afraid of what others will
think. But fear is a product of mind, a fantasy that grips and
destroys. You can conquer your minds habit of creating fear. Dont
think: People wont care about my story or values 11

13 At First,Balance Passion and Skill 1 Beginning [Passion +
Skill] Its easy to end up working at what we do best rather than
what we love to do. The best is often to find a mix of both at the
beginning and transition over time into what we love most. Future
[Passion + Success]
Show why you matter 2This is the difference between two people
with the same resume: One gets hired because they better show why
they matterwhether its with a C-level exec, a leading expert or a
young entrepreneur. Everyone is busy and wants to have
conversations that matter with people who matter, like you. 14
15 Surround yourself with people who you want to be 3 You are
most like the 5 people you spend the most time with Choose Wisely
Raise the bar and build your networks with others who are living
purposeful, inspired lives.
16 Write an Email people will read 4Avoid starting with How are
you? People are busystart with a brief sentence outlining who you
are and why you're writing. Save the niceties for when you meet or
exchange more messages. Ask the question you want to ask Let me
know if you have time VS "Can we meet for 15 minutes over coffee in
the next two weeks?" Be direct with your introduction
One-size-fits-all three-sentence bio VS One-sentence,
results-focused description about what you have to offer, catered
to the recipient. Ask what you can offer in return A LinkedIn
testimonial, a tweet, a blog post, time to chat about their idea,
an introduction.
17 Make your own luck 5 Making your own luck is about reaching
out and connecting when it matters most. If you are told no, make
it happen anyway. Dig deeper than face value. Use creative ways to
connect with and help others.
18 Differentiate private and public relationships 6 Have a
framework of understanding that a public relationship is not one
where you seek love and acceptance. Be extra intentional with
public relationships, like the one you have with your boss. Dont
leave space for confusion about your role or mission.
19 Get a commitment 7Commitment comes from allowing people to
access their own experience. Stop asking for favors, ask for
commitments. Commitment Confidence Clear goals Empowerment Common
purpose Favor Low engagement One time only Payback Guilt VS
Know others for who they are 8The key to strong relationships
is getting to know people, and then trusting them to be who they
are...instead of who you want them to be. Let people be the best
version of themselves, not your version of them. 20
3 ways to get just about Anything You Want 21
22 Have Fun 1First Figure out what you want. Then Have fun with
it! When you do get noticed, hired or anything you want, ask
informed, thoughtful questions and otherswillremember you. Dont
forget to have fun with it. People want to be around those who love
what they do.
23 Do meaningful work 2 Most research has shown that extrinsic
rewards (i.e. pay for performance) distort results, whereas
intrinsic rewards enhance performance.
24 Make the most of your day 3Set up your calls and meetings
only 2 days a week, if you can.Use the rest of the week for
projects that matter most to you. Have less meetings.Meetings don't
make decisions, leaders make decisions. When you have less
meetings, more work gets done. Follow the 7pm rule. Why do we work
past 7pm? We make rules to have lunch and shower, so when did it
become optional to go home at 7pm - its the end of the day! Take
the time you need to recharge and you'll produce better work.
Schedulehours per day for various tasks.Set a scheduled time each
day for the work that matters most. Plan everything else around
that precious time. Owning your time is about making time for the
work that matters.
Top 10 ways to get noticed, hired, and just about anything you
want 1. Reach out and connect in a meaningful way. 2. Stop
comparing yourself to others. 3. Overcome feelings of shame and
fear to tell your personal story. 4. Be honest about what you are
hoping to get out of a conversation, no matter who youre talking
with. 5. Surround yourself with people who you want to be. 6. Get a
commitment from others, not a favor. 7. Trust others to be who they
are, not who you want them to be. 8. Find a way to support somebody
in exchange for their time and attention. 9. Dont worry about what
others have; start with what you need. 10. Make the most of your
day. 25
