I chose to do a rectangular door because from my research I found that most doors in Manhattan were square. I measured myself against the flat to make sure that my door was a realistic size. I painted the flat cocoa bean colour to represent the wall and to match the flats around mine and on the opposite side of the set. I decided to paint the door grey to correspond with the Abuela Claudias door on stage right. I had to make sure that my door didn’t look exactly the same as the other door, so I made it look more basic by painting rectangles on the door to give the door a more 3D effect and left it without the letter box and flowers so Abuela Claudias door looked more important. I added a black number and a black handle to make it look like a real door. I chose a black number and handle because I didn’t want it to reflect the light

Firstly I drew the shape of a door on my flat. I chose a black number and handle because I didn’t want it to reflect the light and I thought my original idea of having a brass handle wouldn’t have been as effective because it would have looked too new and I wanted to create the illusion that it had been there for a while and I didn’t want light to reflect off it.
