WORK EXPERIENCE SITE OPPORTUNITIES
W-2 is based on work participation and personal responsibility. Under
W-2, there is no entitlement to assistance, but there is a place for every-
one who meets eligibility requirements and is willing to work to their abil-
ity. The program is available to low-income parents with minor children.
The primary goal of W-2 is for participants to gain and keep employ-
ment; it is a work first program. We aim to meet this goal by meeting the
participant wherever they are and giving them the supports they need to
become self-sufficient.
An excellent way to encourage W-2 participants to do this is through
volunteer work opportunities called Work Experience. Work Experience
sites can provide an array of options and prospects for them. The W-2
program asserts a strong belief that work experience is a valuable
activity.
We are looking for local organizations that would be willing to provide
experiences for our participants. If you are interested in getting involved,
please contact us to set up a brief meeting to talk about the possibility of
our partnering together to assist these individuals on their path to gainful
employment and self-sufficiency.
Many local organizations choose to do this as a way to give back to the
community, to mentor future workers, and to find new talent.
Work Experience is a win-win for the community and the participant.
