Technological platforms

Cannon D600• This device a very important tool for

the making of our opening sequence. The advantages of the Cannon D600 is that is records in high resolution. This allowed us to have high quality footage to use for our opening sequence. I have learned how change Lightning and focus which therefore broadened the types of shot I could take.

However, the disadvantage of this is that is takes quite a long time to

get used to the settings and formats which was a set back in the

beginning of the course as we were unsure of how to work it.

IPhone 5CWe used the iPhone 5C in our opening sequence in our opening

sequence as it is an essential gadget in everyday life so including

it adds a sense of reality to our film. The advantages of the

iPhone is that it is easy to use and very portable, which means

that it was easy for us to use it in our set unlike the table which we

had to bring down to the cellar.

The Disadvantages of this device is that it is very small which

means that it is very hard to see what is on the screen.

Powerpoint • Powerpoint is a very good software because it is simple but gets the

job done. I am already very used to it therefore i was able to start my

work without trying to learn its features. I have learned how to shorten

my points to make them more suitable for powerpoint.

• The draw backs of this software is that it can get repetitive which

means that i needed to find new softwares so that i can have

different type of media platforms

GarageBand • Garage band is a music software which allows you to record and

create your own music from instruments or premade loops. This

software is important because it allowed us to create original music

which we could use for our opening sequence. The loop feature

make it easy to create professional sounding music and songs

therefore we were able to use high quality music for our film. The

disadvantages of this software is that it is very hard to learn and get

used to. This meant that we had to spend precious time to try and

get used to how it works. This meant that we had less time to work on

other important work such as our blogs.

Prezie• I used prezie to present my research and analysis. Prezie is a

very good software for presenting. This is because it offers a

clear structure which engages people’s attention. From using

it repeatedly, I have learned how to create my own format

with pictures and the right text box.

• The disadvantage of prezie is that it requires internet access. This means that if the internet is down, you would be unable to

obtain your presentation.

Apple iMac• From using the iMac, i have learned how to complete functions such

as copy – paste and Print screen. I did not know this before hand

because the keys are different to microsoft, an operating system that

i am more experienced with.

• The advantage of the iMac is that it is fast and holds many useful

softwares such as final cut and Garage Band. However, a

disadvantage is that it took a while to get used to as it is very

different to the other PCs that i was used to.
