People from all over San Antonio came together for a community, crowd fundingcampaign at GS 1221 on Tuesday, May 12 to raise money for Maverick Park’srevitalization and the addition of Maverick Dog Park. For the first time in San Antonio, arevitalization of a city park is being put in the hands of the community.

Beer was flowing, people were talking about the growth of our city, dogs were playfullybarking and change was being made. Maverick Park, located at 1000 Broadway, is apark that has been slightly forgotten over the years. Joe Alderete III, Project Managerand District 1 Member for San Antonio Parks and Recreation and Ashley Riley, AssetManager for AREA Real Estate, saw the potential the park had for the city and decidedto bring life back to Maverick Park. This is when the idea of Maverick Dog Park wasborn.
