1.Nature of the WorkDental Hygienists check for any “oral
diseases”; they clean/eliminate any
impurities from teeth. They also work with
x-rays & inform their patients on good oral
health (hygiene).
Dental hygienists use a variety of tools,
they use their hands to work on the
patient, but they use powered tools as
well. They may also work with ultrasonic
devices & take/develop x-rays with x-rays
machines.
They do not make, create, nor produce
anything.
2. Working Conditions They work from 2 to 3 days a week.
They work in pleasant environments.
Three good things about being a dental hygienist:
1)the first good thing about this job is that they earn a lot of money
2)They don’t work every day of the week.
3)That you help others so their teeth will get better.
Three bad things about this job:
1)They have to see bad teeth
2)They have to deal with annoying people
3)The job is difficult.
3.Training/ Employment
Associate’s Degree in dental hygiene is
required
Usually 2-3 years to complete training
Ferris State University is an example of where
you can attend
Dental hygienists should be careful & have
good hands, working on the mouth with
delicate tools. Also, you must know how to
work with large machinery & how to
operate and run the machines/tools.
4. Employment Rate
38% Graduated Dental Hygienist get hired per year.
It depends on the economy, if a lot of patients or insurance companies pay for dental work, then the hiring rate will grow.
Job availability is expected to grow by the time I am ready to work in this certain career.
I could get a part-time job and list on my resume that I've worked before. Work at a dental place just to help clean.
