A non-governmental organisation is a legally constituted
organisation that operates independently with the sole motto of
helping the society.
It has spread its wings in many sectors like- resource
development, watershed management, self help groups,
financial stability and employment to the local peeps,
governance assistance and human resources.
They can be termed as the ‘Game Changer’ of the Indian field
which has been able to bring out the best of India with leaving
no stone unturned for assistance to the economically
challenged citizens of India.
RESPONSIBILTIES
Corporate jobs dole out a small list of
responsibilities on the upfront but in
reality the actual work load is much
cumbersome than a NGO.
The scope for freshers in NGO in Indian scenario is not as
profitable as international NGO, but here are few jobs which
does not require much of the Einstein’s lobes.
Zeal to make a difference
Team Spirit
Right Attitude
Self Confidence
Communication skills
Adaptability
Responsible one: There is a difference between the
responsibilities once you graduate and enter the
professional world. NGO work teaches you being
responsible.
Organised self:
There needs to be
balance within the
work force and inner
values which NGO
teaches us.
Time Management: In a professional world, if you adhere to these rules, it will land you and your team in chaos. NGO makes you realise the value of time.
PERSONAL GROWTH
It has a profound effect on our personal lives. If you are working for an
NGO means you have dedication and interest in making the world a better
place to live in. No longer have you acted like the dumb driven cattle.
You get to make your own decisions and work upon it.
Moreover, you get to make new bonds within the
organisation and ward off any hostile environment.
PROFESSIONAL FRONT
NGO has been the bridge which has helped people achieving that
satisfaction of work along with help to the nation. While working as an aid
worker, an individual develops a nebulous mix of qualities during his
tenure.
The organisation inculcates the value of team spirit and coordinating with
the work value.
It boosts one’s adaptive skills. Be it harsh conditions like scarcity of basic
needs or a deep desperation for seeing loved ones, you have to maintain
utter professionalism and work under duress.
The hostile conditions engender attributes like self reliance, credence and
fortitude in a NGO worker.
It also tests your waters for the survival skills.
Before starting a NGO, you should have idea about the stages
of a NGO:
Start up
Expansion
Consolidation
Phase out
We have known all about the working of NGO, we can
conclude that choosing NGO as a career path is not as difficult as it seems.
But it is also not a easy place to play on. With true determination and will
power, you can adhere to the values and working of the NGO. Sure, it is
not lucrative as a corporate job but the infinite number of smiles you put on
people is worth working for.
