Call for NGOs The British council in Tunisia is calling for NGOs to partner with the “Women Participating In Public Life Project”(WPIPL) which aims to empower Tunisia’s women by giving them the power to influence and make a difference in their local communities through the British Council community leadership programme, ‘’Active Citizens’’. Fair Collection/Privacy Notice and Freedom of Information

The British Council will use the information that applicants provide for the purposes of selecting participants for the Active Citizens Social Leadership Programme, to set up and administer the course and understand the impact of the Active Citizens programme.  Successful applicants will also be contacted by the British Council or a third party organisation contracted by the Active Citizens programme for research purposes for up to one year after the end of the programme (March 2016). Information relating to any special needs will be collected separately on the Additional Information form.

The British Council manages data about the Active Citizens programme, including data about individual participants, though an online tool called Views. Our suppliers, Substance, are the administrators of the tool, have access to the tool functionality and data, but only use this access to ensure the proper functioning of the tool. Substance will normally only handle anonymised data and will not process your personal data without permission. Substance will not pass on your personal data to anyone else. In 2014-15 IOD PARC, an external organisation contracted by the British Council to review the Active Citizens programme’s monitoring and evaluation processes, will have access to the data on Views, as part of their work to assess impact. IOD PARC will not pass on your personal data to anyone else.

The British Council will treat all personal data in accordance with the UK Data Protection Act 1998, and our global privacy policy. We may pass your information to other organisations that need it in connection with the running of Active Citizens Social Leadership Programme, however the British Council will not sell or disclose your details to third parties for commercial reason.

Under UK Data Protection law you have the right to ask for a copy of the information we hold on you, for which we may charge a fee, and the right to ask us to correct any inaccuracies in that information.  If you want more information about this please see our website http://www.britishcouncil.org/privacy-cookies/data-protection.

The British Council is subject to requirements under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (FOIA) and the Environmental Information Regulations 2004 (EIR) therefore may be required to disclose information, provided by an applicant, to a third party. Both the FOIA and the EIR give the general public the right of access to information held by public authorities unless an exemption applies.

In accordance with the Secretary of State’s Code of Practise under section 45 of the FOIA the British Council will, in most circumstances, consult directly with applicants to give them advance notice of the request. If an applicant objects to disclosure of the information they will be given the opportunity to provide reasons for the prejudicial effects, in order to determine if an exemption applies, although ultimately the decision will lie with the British Council.
