Foreign Language

Objectives

The discipline «Foreign Language» is taught for the students of the major «Ship Hull Construction» (5.05120101) and «Assembling and Design of Ships Machines and Mechanisms» (5.05120103) in the respect of State Standards of Basic and Complete Secondary Education, the Law of Ukraine «About Comprehensive Secondary School».

Objectives

Formation of the necessary communicative ability in the sphere of situational and professional communication both in written and oral forms.

Competencies • ability to use English while

communicating; • ability to communicate with

native speakers on everyday topics;

• ability to write short private and business letters;

• ability to get the necessary information to solve specific tasks in the everyday life using different sources: original and scientific literature, periodicals and Internet resources.

Students Will Be Able To

• communicate on the social and everyday topics;• master foreign language in written form, write

personal e-mails; • speak on everyday activities.

Study hours

The duration of the course is 2 (two) terms

1st course covers• practical classes 136

hours; • self-study classes 24

hours.

Facilities and Teaching Materials Classes are held in the classrooms

№505 and №507 of the academic building №4Classrooms are equipped with:

• grammar and reference materials for the students;

• geographical maps;• visual materials;• teaching board;• students’ books and dictionaries.

Grading

Studying the discipline “Foreign Language” is resulted in a credit consisting of :

• competencies results; • testing results after

each module.
